  Is the Bible God's word? Help please.....

  so real quick, i know this comes up now and then and i've looked over some of the posts from the past but here's the thing.. when i was a jw i drank all the cool aid, i was 100% and so i have all my own arguments (from the jw's) for why the bible is inspired.

  i no longer believe this but i'd really like to read something that is pretty much 100% academic on this subject.

  i want to read what scholars have to say about the authenticity of the bible and it's claim at being the inspired word of god.

  To the OP: I'd just like to second the recommendation to read "Who Wrote the Bible' by Richard Elliott Friedman. Nice intro to bible scholarship written in a way that non-scholars can appreciate.

  How do you deal with depression?

  i'm currently going through a bout of depression and my eating disorder has gotten worse.

  ever since my parents actually told me that they are going to kick me out when i turn 18 i've felt kind of hopeless about my life.

  my parents won't take me to the doctor because the psychiatrists won't have my "best interests" aka jw crap in mind, because really that's the root of all my problems.. i'm wondering if any of you guys have any advice with dealing with depression?

  Do you have a passport? If so, and you can afford to buy an airline ticket to Warsaw, Poland, I will put you up for 3 months (your legal limit). That should be enough time to start to get your head on straight. Is anybody in the US able to make a similar offer?

  If not, why not? Are we just all talk here and not willing to help out?

  No Reason For JWs To Go To The MIdweek Meeting (CLAM)

  everything that is done at the midweek meeting can now be done at home.

  the videos are online, the first talk is scripted, the bible highlights are scripted.

  you could get the same experience by just reading and watching the material from your tablet.

  Since my wife switched to the English-language group in Warsaw she has not attended any mid-week meetings anywhere. I haven't heard her complain about it. Big test is this weekend - RC/DC (not sure what they call it in Poland). I told her I already saw all the videos she is likely to see and asked her to pay attention to the 'shunning' video.

  For those who are still in... What do you do about field service?
