Cofty, actually I didn't assert it I asked you if you thought it was so. I can see that you don't and that you think ridicule is a good thing. Although people keep asserting that ridiculing a person's silly beliefs and ridiculing the person are two different things I don't think all ex-JWs coming to this forum can tell the difference. No-one on this thread has said believers are too fragile to have their ideas criticised. Some of us have said to interlace it with compassion instead of insults would be more helpful.

I am so glad you started this thread Seraphim. I have been going on about this for months. Whether it is on the believers versus atheists threads or the paranormal threads. This forum is supposed to be about recovery from a cult. Recovery means that when people come here they are often in a bad way. They may ask to be gently helped towards what we at this stage in our evolution and our current level of empirical knowledge think of as reality. There is no need to rip people's faith away or treat them as stupid for having questions about the things they were never allowed to even think about before.

Yes there was something about the way that woman was speaking, she didn't sound like a scientist, her voice was strange. Also I kept waiting for an explanation of the technical apparatus but it just looked like a ropey old music centre.
