Sorry Apog I think you were being ironic. It's not been an easy day, my brain faded out there for a minute. (Just heard a relative has cancer)

"Aren't you going the wrong way at this stage of your life?"
by donny inthat was a question posed to me by a friend who just recently discovered my switch from one who used to have a belief in god to one that has a lack thereof.. they stated "most people i know, including your truly, were not much interested in closely following the tenants of the faith we were brought up in when we were in the prime of our young adulthood.
you on the other hand, were much more zealous back then and now have pretty much left it all behind.
surely it is not because you are not sowing your oats at this time.".

Apog, sociopaths make leaders with monstrous egos who manipulate everyone for their own ends and have no desire to make the world a better place! We need leaders like that like we need a hole in the head.

However I believe that many of todays outspoken represenatives of things like young earth creationists, i.e. Ken Ham,. Eric Hovind, do it more for the money and adulation they get versus they sincerely believe everything they say - Donny
Yes I totally agree. I suppose recessive genes will keep throwing up sociopaths.

Yes it is odd that your friend thinks you are going the wrong way when surely gaining more knowledge and insight into reality is a vital thing to do as we progress through life.
Just a thought Donny, I have noticed many people on here lately saying that religion had always been about control, whether control of a family, tribe or entire nation. Do you think it has also been about trying to answer the big questions for people who didn't have science?
For example why do our children die? Why do we get sick? What's the point? I know that priestcraft has always been about control of the masses but haven't ordinary people always been seeking answers to the big questions, which of course has left them vulnerable to the rulers and priests and their power hunger?
By the way I am not defending a personal relgious belief - I don't have one, in case you were wondering.

It's Ironic
by cassuk11 inthat many people have turned away form believing in god but are happy to worship sportstars, celebrities, themselves, possessions ,money etc etc.
whats it all aobut.

Do you ever watch TV documentaries cassuk? Most mammalian groups have alpha males and females. It's a survival technique, the strongest males protect the group and father the strongest young. Looking up to celebrities is a spin off from that.
If by worshipping themselves you mean making themselves happy instead of feeling that they are disgusting debased sinners in need of redemption then I am all for it. Psychologists realise now that we need to look after ourselves first, then our families, then our friends and work colleagues and then give to charity or do voluntary work if we have any resources left.
Religions that tell us to put ourselves last have severely damaged our mental health.

Just letting you know I passed the exam
by will-be-apostate inhi, my apostate friends.. a couple of weeks ago i asked for some advice regarding studying methods.
then some of you asked me to let you know my score after i take the exam at mineralogy.. i scored 90%.
i'm pretty happy with it because the exams i take are not in my native language.. if i keep up with the good scores i might get a scholarship and then bye bye watchtower society.

Memorial to cease?
by Aroq ini heard something about the memorial to cease soon.
not anything to do with jesus returning but rather that the number of folks partaking is increasing and the gb can't explain it since it should be decreasing or staying the same.. has anyone heard of this?
.

They could keep doing this in remembrance of him privately, in their homes, so that the whole increase in partakers thing is covered up. Nowhere is there a command for the great crowd to participate, Jesus was speaking to the apostles.

Finally learned how to live the REAL real life
by forest heathen insomeone suggested i post an introductory thread.
i am a married, rather young grandma of four precious rugrats, ages 2-9. i guess our only child son and his only child wife didn't want their own kids to be "onlies".
my other half and i married rather young (18 &22) and will be celebrating 31 years together this summer.. i am sort of add, keep thinking i am still 28, love my husband now more than ever, and am so glad i woke up and left the crazy cult.. my husband and i began studying months after marrying and then decided to take the dunk.

I have noticed it coming up to the full moon the last few days. It's been very large and very yellow. Quite beautiful! Lovely clear nights, many stars and also good sightings of the International Space Station for up to six minutes. See when you can see the ISS here :-
