Hoser I am so impressed that you're thinking of doing this. Just think if all those JW quick builds produced homes for people who desperately need them. Good for you. -

The floodgates are about to open in the UK.. Sunday Times article
by defender of truth injehovah church faces flood of sex abuse cases.
"a woman who was abused from the age of four by a senior officer of the jehovahs witnesses has lodged a 500,000 claim for compensation in a test case that could open the door to hundreds more suits involving members of the religious organisation in the uk.".

They will dismiss it anyway Cadellin if they are so inclined. I'm glad the journalist is using what the public call them to protect people from this religion when they wave a leaflet with pretty pictures at their kids in the street. -

He was in prison for five years for assaulting another child. When he came out 'Abigail' went to the elders terrified the abuse would start up again. They said because of the two witness rule they would do nothing and he would be reinstated as a MS.
This monster told her as a child of between five and nine, when the abuse was going on, she would die at Armageddon for their fornication. Wonderful people they have as ministerial servants and as Flipper pointed out in his thread they have no rule against reappointing a convicted pedophile after some 'time has passed'.

Even if everything about the "truth" was all true...........
by pontoon ini will say that one of the most distasteful teachings for me is the idea of praising, thanking, worshiping, god every day for all eternity.
what kind of ego needs that?
like if i ever saved a person's life i would say buy me a bottle of scotch and we'll call it even.

Agreed pontoon. We create gods in our own image. I was raised in the religion so I knew about the need to appease important people - at least they thought they were important LOL. So for quite a while it seemed natural that god was the same.
It's funny but now, to my mind, the more people believe a god should be bowed down to and kept happy with worship the more they act like apes with the instinct to keep that great big 'silverback' happy. After all he could kill you.

JW.ORG has jehovahs backing
by antes8080 inbeen hearing this from various people from the cong that jw.org is a clear sign that god is directing the org.. i have various friends in the it dept not only in brooklyn but mexico and colombia, just a fact there is 5 to 6 it dept all over the world that give support to jworgie 24/7... so i have ask them how they came up with the website wich is not the best but not the worst by far.
all four of them told me the same story, there is a brother in florida that is profesor of some kind computer class and as project he made them work on the website so students of these college helped launch this site.. so more like jah backing it has more like satan backing...

What explanation was given as proof that it has god's backing? Why is it a clear sign that god is backing the web site? I don't get it.
Most JWs are very ordinary and so having a web site is a big deal, they are easily impressed. Education and seeing a bit of the world would do many of them a lot of good.

What did you become after leaving Jehovah's Witnesses?
by Garrett inhey guys,.
so, since my leaving i have been doing so much research on so many topics that it's been extremely enlightening.
not only have i learned a lot about the organization and what motivates it, but i have also learned a lot about the bible, god and most importantly, myself.. currently, i'm not quite sure where i stand, but i'm having some real issues with the bible and god.

Hi Garrett. My husband and I left twenty-six years ago. We were Christians for two years but not churchgoers. Then my husband did lots of research on evolution and he even wrote a book about it. The publisher said he needed a science background to publish a science book so he started the physics degree he had always wanted to do.
I started a degree in European history. Within a year we had both stopped believing in God. My husband became a chartered physicist but dropped the book idea because it was based on theistic evolution.
It was in his will he wanted a non-religious funeral, he died at age fifty-four six years ago. I am an atheist but I think there is a lot of evidence for conscious existence after death. We got here without a god so I don't think any further stage of evolution has any need for a god or anything supernatural. This was something I first started reading about 23 years ago when I came across a book about it in a second-hand book shop, much to my surprise. I am still open-minded, nothing is set in stone.

Asshole Atheism – Not for me, now or ever.
by donny into start off with let me clarify that by asshole atheism i am not referring to strong atheism or any other type of upfront atheism.
what i am referring to is the belligerent, hateful atheism that smacks of trolls and other types who want to derail conversation or comments at any cost..
i enjoy hearing comments from both sides of the subjects of theism, nationalism or politics, especially from those who have intense opinions.

http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/283202/question-athiests?size=10&page=2
Viviane this thread is an example of a poster asking why some atheists seem to want to convert people to their way of thinking. I grant that the OP is not very clear but the question regarding conversion to atheism is.
Some posters reply with understanding that the topic is asking why some atheists seem to devote so much time to persuading people to move away from a belief in God while other posters seem merely to want to argue that you cannot convert to atheism because it is a lack of belief.
The latter are not engaging with the OP regarding why try and convert others to atheism. In other words why not live and let live, why care what others believe if they are not hurting anyone. They are being pedantic.
This is what I was referring to and I have come across it many times. Fortunately not very often these days as we do not have the endless atheists versus believers threads that were prevalent a few years ago. You only arrived a year ago so I suppose it is understandable that you haven't seen them. I take it this is why you asked for an example, I hope you weren't accusing me of lying.

Governing Body Member Stephan Lett Lies On JW.TV
by Finkelstein ini thought it would be important to clearly point in the recent talk by governing body member stephan lett, that he did in fact deliberately lie concerning what he described as lies and false information by apostates, concerning the organization being permissive toward people in the organization who had been involved in pedophilia.
the truth of the matter is thats exactly what the organization has been doing and perhaps for a long time.
the recent candace conti law suit where she was awarded 28 million dollars was levied against the wts for its irresponsible behavior by the elders who gave no notification of the accused jonathan kendrick that he had been charged with pedophilia and spent months in jail for his actions .
