JW Son dead in German plane crash, no big deal!
by noolite inseems to be a jw connection with the crash after all, but it wasn't the co-pilot as some had surmised.
the father of the only american male killed in the crash weighs in with a very mild assessment of the mass murderer, and doesn't seem overly concerned about his son, now deceased.. ---------------------------------------------------------------- .
"the parents of an american victim of the french alps plane crash said on 27 march they feel sadness for the parents of the co-pilot rather than feeling anger for the loss of their son.. robert tansill oliver, a jehovah's witness, lost his 37-year-old son robert oliver calvo in the germanwings plane crash.. "i don t feel anger.

Grief can have a very numbing effect on the brain. It's a safety valve that's evolved to help us get through the most difficult times in life. Not everyone can cry straight away when someone very close dies, sometimes not for weeks afterward and very strong empathy for those also suffering is quite normal although I don't know why. Perhaps it's a feeling of kinship, we are all feeling this terrible pain together and those outside the circle can't possibly understand. -

This person is in contact with the service and writing departments? Where? This person is barely literate. Am I supposed to believe what they say. I don't know about anyone else but I'm getting fed up of people writing garbled posts on here. Please learn to spell and write in sentences. -

If someone asked you, 'Are you a righteous person'? What would be your answer?
by Esse quam videri inwhat would be your answer?
are you are a righteous person?
on a scale of 1-10, how righteous do you feel you are?.

Good on the other hand can mean honorable, decent
Good is good enough for me.All of these words, righteous, good, honourable are subjective. Good has meant burning elderly women alive to save a town from the devil.
Good has meant having someone hung, drawn and quartered because they don't believe the Pope is descended from St Peter.
Why is it so difficult to decide how to treat people well? IMHO it's because every situation we face demands that we decide, often quite quickly what to do and we have been taught to listen to rules given by others.

I would say define righteousness and they would then give their opinion. As Cantleave says opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one.

Can you discredit "wait on jehovah to fix all evil" elder's padded line even told to victims of pedophiles?
by PokerPlayerPhil ini am sick of being told this same crap after decades of suffering at the hands of wicked men and women, how many of you have had to fight these irrational expectations we are supposed to grin and smile when people are actively trying to screw with us and elders say .
good it is that one should wait, even silently, for the salvation of jehovah (lamentations 3:26; titus 2:13).
my life in the organization has not been entirely bad, there were many good people and plenty of jerks like you all experienced in this adventure we call life.

'Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish will give him a snake instead. If you then though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children how much more will your father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?' Luke 11:11,13 NIV
I would use this scripture in the context you mention. With thousands of JWs crying out to God in prayer over the things they see in the religion regarding pedophiles why doesn't God use his Holy Spirit to tell the GB to cleanse his organisation? How long would you wait if he's not answering? Maybe something's wrong with the religion if he's not answering. Perhaps these seven men can't hear him!

How is Joe Publisher reacting to all the TV coverage on the abuse cases?
by 4thgen inplease pardon if this a repeated topic.
i have had virtually no contact with any witnesses beside my mother for the past few years.
she watches tv constantly and claims she has never seen anything on the watchtower abuse cases.

My JW sister has refused to have an aerial-connected TV in the house for years. She used to have one only for watching vids and I am almost certain she doesn't have a computer. So, head in the sand, feet waving in the air. -

Mind control.
by New day inin a recent thread someone mentioned that the wtbts uses mind control techniques.
do you think this is a conscious ploy?
if it is it would mean that the leaders of my religion (i am still an active jw) set out consciously to control people.

This is also supported by a lot of the prayers given thanking "the slave" for the abundant spiritual food.
Yes I've heard this on the forum New Day and it amazes me. When I was a witness prayers were about talking to and praising Jehovah. Now they seem to be about praising the GB!

I hope you're ok vinman. I noticed you haven't replied and I hope you aren't too stressed with realising everything you believed about this religion is false.
It's a very difficult time and something we have all been through so get in touch if you need to talk or perhaps you are talking to the people who sent you PMs. I hope so, take care.

So Night Owl Is this an object lesson of how insubstantial ideas can absorb our time without contributing anything to our lives? -

15 Years of Jehovahs-Witness.com
by Simon inyes, today is the forum's 15th birthday!.
i never thought for one moment that it would survive this long or have so many people post so many great subjects over the years.. it is still humbling when i get pm's or emails from people expressing how the site has helped them and of course thanks goes to all the posters who have shared their experiences and make helpful and supportive comments to others who are in the sometimes difficult process of learning the real truth about 'the truth'.. the site has gone through several different incarnations over the last 15 years running on different platforms, different databases and different hosts but we've been able to keep all the old topics.
the current site is still being developed and i'm hoping to push another major upgrade soon.. i also may have some other news to share soon about the future of the site so stay posted.. until then, here's the the next 15 years!

Thanks Simon for free access to a world of opinions on everything from religion to current affairs to childcare. It is so liberating to get such a fascinating array of views from our international membership. Like travel, it broadens the mind.
Happy 15th Birthday.
