by cofty inwhen donald johanson and his colleagues returned to the afar region of ethiopia in 1974 they were full of optimism.
it was their second season searching for human fossils around hadar.

My husband wrote on his CV that he used to be a minister of religion. When asked at interview why he was one no longer he said because he became an atheist. His career went from strength to strength, eventually he was a project engineer for a company sending machinery all over the world, although he did need a physics degree as well. As Kate says in the UK particularly employers do not like gaps in your CV. His colleagues sometimes thought it was funny that he used to be a minister ( he was an elder for four years) but it didn't hurt his career. -

Over twenty years ago I bought Lucy The Beginnings of Humankind by Donald Johanson and Maitland Edey from the British Library and I've always intended to read it but little details like finances and getting a roof over our heads got in the way. So I have finally started it thanks to this thread. At this point I would just mention Johanson says Lucy was about 25-30 and not 12 when she died because she had fully erupted wisdom teeth that showed evidence of at least a couple of years of wear. -

SBF you're the only one who seems to be going on and on about this man who is not at all well. He's having problems dressing himself. That would make anyone emotional, being reduced to the manual dexterity of a two-year-old. I am just so disappointed in the lack of compassion some have shown on this thread. -

Caption This Photo From The January Study Edition
by JW_Rogue inso as some are probably aware the january study edition has two articles on the anointed.
one basically discouraging people from believing they are anointed and another about how ones should view partakers.
this photo is from the second article:.

Apathy trolley chat
by punkofnice ini was in a different city this weekend so i decided to natter to 2 bored jws on the apathy trolley.i just nattered, nothing thought provoking or anti witness.
i was waiting for someone so hard time to spare.what struck me was, that no matter how many times i said that i don't believe in god, they spoke to me as if i did.
they kept asking me how god would feel about stuff.

Seems weird they just kept asking you about God after you repeatedly said you didn't believe in him. We were taught to switch straight away to ask why they didn't believe in God and we were able to discuss why God allows suffering, evolution or whatever they said. These guys don't seem to have any training at all do they? I don't think the GB want to recruit anyone except thickies now. They have enough income now, the club's closed. -

My cat died suddenly!
by Fisherman ini did not realize that they were symptoms that something was wrong with my cat -but i did notice that my cat was breathing a little differently for a period of about a few days.
i also noticed prior and after to that, that on occasion, my cat would cry at the litter box, but that was a very seldom event.. anyway, about a week ago i noticed the symptom that my very loved cat was breathing heavy.
so i called a taxi and i was going to rush him to emergency room for cats.

Fisherman I'm so sorry, that sounds really traumatic. I am a cat lover, I have four cats. When my last cat died it was very sad because she kept losing weight and the vet kept treating her for worms but it was liver disease and she could have lived out her life just taking tablets every day if we had known. She was a beautiful Russian Blue. She got me through leaving that cult, saved my sanity. I do feel so sad for your loss and totally understand your sorrow. 💔 -

How Important to You Is Being Married Or Staying Single?
by minimus ini have friends that pretty much need to be in a relationship.
if they aren't with somebody, they are miserable.
if they are in a relationship, they are unhappy.. do you feel that you need to be n a relationship or are you content to be single..

Since having the single life forced on me I've realised that all relationships are a trade off between what you want and what the other person wants. Loneliness is always a factor of course. If the loneliness is very painful I can understand someone wanting to hook up with a new partner. For myself the loneliness in not too bad, most days, and I kinda like doing exactly what I want :) I'm not sure I want to give it up now. -

This is an interesting site Baker with hundreds of NDEs. I started researching it when to my surprise I found a book about it in a second-hand bookshop after we Da'ed. I still don't believe in God or anything supernatural but I don't like to ignore any evidence even if it doesn't fit. That would be confirmation bias. Look for evidence that they saw or heard real-world events during the experience that can be confirmed afterwards.
