  The main point is that there is a whole series of pre-human species that show all the progressions from small-brained walking on all fours to large brained bipeds.

  Yes I understand but Johanson is talking at length about where Lucy fits in and the problems they had at the time with potassium-argon dating of volcanic tuff. I just wondered if knowing what evidence we have now would shed any light on it for me. Thanks for that cofty.

  Does anyone have an up to date human evolution diagram showing the timelines of homo and australopithecines please. I would like to compare what Johanson wrote in 1981 with what is thought now and Google just throws up a load of diagrams, most without posting dates.

  Where are the EXJW Feminist Philosophers?

  i am working, more in the planning stages, where i am going to offer a commentary on the caleb and sophia cartoons that the org puts out.

  i noticed a heavily patriarchal bent to the narrative that these cartoons offer.

  i would really enjoy working with someone who has an academic background in feminist philosophy, or at least someone knowledgeable.

  Oh yes. Also try being a woman on some of these threads and say something interesting only to be ignored. Then watch one of the men steal what you've said and repeat it almost word for word and see some of the other men join in and tell him what a great guy he is to raise that valuable point.

  From the perspective of a born-in female JW I intensely disliked the patriarchal system but I thought it was imperfect men misinterpreting God's directions. I was sure God never meant for us to be patronised and sidelined. I thought it would all be sorted out in the new system.

  Also don't forget that many women support the elder and MS hierarchy because that's the only way they get any respect, from being the wife of one of these guys. Not because they think it's brilliantly designed.

  As for women converts I can only guess that many women join because they want a paradise future for their children. They have no concept of the extent of the JW patriarchal system until they are too involved to get out. They don't run to it with open arms. They see it as a flawed but necessary system to get the preaching done and the great crowd gathered in. In the new system everything will be put right when Jesus takes over.

  Just because women accept flawed systems and try and work with them it doesn't mean they love the system, it means they want to survive.

  to me honestly this would of been prohibited 10 years ago, but now every dub is obsessed with this website, it's everywhere even a damn iphone cover... ooh they don't approve of idolatry ooh no they don't accept cross veneration thats bullshit to me!!!

  its getting to a point that they are venerating this website (company logo) it's their version of the cross.

  It makes me laugh that they think having a website is a big deal. Restaurants, plumbers, house cleaners, dog clippers, everyone has a website. JWs are very naive people, easily impressed. They need education.

  my first painting after my cataract oeration

  have only just been able to paint again after a cataract operation in september.

  i had complications which meant my short sight has been compromised but following some surgery the fluid buildup seems to have cleared and i have started painting again.

  this is a larger rendition of an earlier piece, such a relief to be ble to see the paper again..

  They were in my street about two weeks ago and I awaited the knock but they passed my by. I am obviously too evil and frightening for them. I wouldn't mind a chat with them. I wish someone had tried to help me. I'm not sure that I was beyond help, beyond reason. Actually there was a guy who my husband met in FS, we went back to see him. He was a philosophy professor. Some of the things he was saying were making me think and the cognitive dissonance hit in because I remember feeling physically ill. I think he could have got through to me eventually.

  list as an accomplishment on a resume, "i escaped from a mind control doomsday cult?".

  sometimes when i reflect on it, the magnitude of this accomplishment amazes me..

  My husband wrote on his CV that he used to be a minister of religion. When asked at interview why he was one no longer he said because he became an atheist. His career went from strength to strength, eventually he was a project engineer for a company sending machinery all over the world, although he did need a physics degree as well. As Kate says in the UK particularly employers do not like gaps in your CV. His colleagues sometimes thought it was funny that he used to be a minister ( he was an elder for four years) but it didn't hurt his career.
