Tiger numbers in the wild have risen slightly
by Xanthippe inin 1900 there were 100,000 tigers in the wild.
a hundred or so years later there were only 3,200 due to habitat destruction and poaching for traditional medicine.
for the first time in a hundred years the numbers have risen.. .

FeelingFree I agree it's good news, thanks to conservation by WWF and other charities. I joined their adopt a tiger appeal a few years ago bacause I was very afraid we would lose these beautiful creatures. One Christmas WWF phoned to tell me they were building a reserve for tigers on the Russio-China border to keep the animals safe and not be a danger to humans. A great Xmas present. Their numbers have only risen to 3,890 from 3,200 in 2010 but it's going in the right direction -

Generation Nonsense in today's WT
by Slidin Fast inabraham was part of the 9th generation as a descendent of shem.
yet, their lives overlapped by 150 years.
yep, they were of the same generation!

My point was, not that this has any relevance to the "generation" in Matt 24 but that it makes the whole overlapping generation theory absolutely senseless. - Slidin Fast
Thanks for this. Don't you just want to phone your relatives and say, how long are you going to take this sh*t for? I despair of my sisters and brother. Particularly my brother, he's awake I'm sure. Is being an elder really worth it bro?

NOW it's Important
by TheLiberator ini have spent 45 years of my life sacrificing my soul to the watchtower.
twenty-five of those years as a ms/elder.
i gave every moment to them.

Welcome TheLiberator. I understand how you feel. My husband was a MS from about 18 then an elder. Always busy, always another talk to prepare. There was never time for us. We regular pioneered after school, he for 15 years, me for ten. We thought people were going to die otherwise. We left exhausted and broken after reading Crisis of Conscience.
Anyway, a long post but I just get irritated that I am the evil one now, NOW that THEY finally decide what is important to them
I understand because when we left my dad, never a witness though he attended the odd meeting, started to criticise me for leaving even though my mum treated him as an unbelieving husband and her terrible problem all his married life. Now my sisters who have been doing very little for decades except being 'very ill' have nothing to do with me. My brother is too busy eldering to think about his widowed sister and my fatherless child. They specialise in hypocrisy, these people. We understand your anger.Having said that, it was my sister's birthday yesterday but she didn't celebrate it I'm sure. Sixty-five and still in the cult. So at 45 you have done well and have half your life still ahead. Welcome to freedom🌹

Last night's talk re sisters wearing head covering, puke making!
by purrpurr indear sisters,.
when you are fortunate enough to be in the presence of a jw penis you must take care to show the proper respect for it!
doesn't matter if said penis is prepubescent!

I wonder if the GB would ever dare to make the sisters wear head scarfs all the time when in the hall and ministry? -purrpurr
Surely not, what religion would make women do that!

I like how it looks in other people but not for myself. A question specially for women.
by StarTrekAngel ini like how it looks in other people but not for myself.. this is a phrase i have heard often from my wife.
now i am to a point where i am trying to figure it out if this is something all women do or say.
i can understand how you would say this if you were talking about a type of clothing that doesn't go with your figure, except that you may add the disclaimer... "if i had that figure i would wear this".

Eh, this all seems to be about your tattoo and not about what clothes or jewellery she likes. The tattoo is the issue here isn't it? She won't tell you why she doesn't want you to have one, is that it? -

I would never get a tattoo because I don't like the idea of something permanent on my body that I couldn't change, at least without a huge amount of pain to remove it. This doesn't make me think other people shouldn't have them, it's just how I feel about my own body.
Women generally know what suits them according to their body shape with regard to clothes. So your wife may admire something on another woman but know from personal experience it won't suit her own shape.

The Remarkable Story of Lili Boulanger
by Terry in_____________the remarkable story of lili boulanger____________.
there are stories that cannot be written and shouldn't be told because the truth of those stories cannot be embraced on first hearing.
this is the life of a real person who appeared and vanished as though only dreamed up by an overly emotional writer.. lili boulanger was born to a father 77 years old, yet they formed an adoring bond almost from the moment she drew her first breath!

Thank you Terry. Doesn't it remind you of a film score, it has that epic feel to it? It reminds me to be grateful for having time left to achieve and to appreciate the beauty in our lives, art, music, the landscapes of the country I'm lucky enough to be born in.
She had such a short life but filled with music. Sometimes we complain about having only old age ahead of us but what's the alternative?

Testimonies of former Christians.
by The Rebel inwhat's the point of debating?.
in my opinion it's not to win the argument, but rather to present the evidence and let the audience/lurkers decide the best case.
therefore i thought maybe the best way to present our current beliefs would be to start a thread where only " testimonies of former christians" are permitted .

Or more to the point I hope this thread is boaring
