The Times said this morning EU leaders are refusing to make any deal with the UK about continuing trade with EU countries until we have completed leaving the EU. How long will that take!

One Thing I Don't Get About Brexit
by JW_Rogue inhow did such a weighty decision get put directly in the hands on the average citizen?
and with only a simple majority required?
in the usa the biggest thing that people vote on directly is city building projects or infrastructure.

Nobody at work knows what JWs believe
by Athanasius inrecently susie, one of my co-workers mentioned that her husband's family were all jws.
the family converted after susie's husband left home, so he never joined the jws, nor does he intend to.
anyway another co-worker asked her: "what do the jws believe?".

Cool, I got two dislikes. Probably from JW apologists. Do you think the JWs believe everyone will be saved and not just you? It's always a good idea to know what your own religion teaches.

Well Freddo nobody knows what the ones who couldn't be bothered to get down to a polling station thought about it. They threw away their right to be heard.

How do you deal with depression?
by BlackWolf ini'm currently going through a bout of depression and my eating disorder has gotten worse.
ever since my parents actually told me that they are going to kick me out when i turn 18 i've felt kind of hopeless about my life.
my parents won't take me to the doctor because the psychiatrists won't have my "best interests" aka jw crap in mind, because really that's the root of all my problems.. i'm wondering if any of you guys have any advice with dealing with depression?

Blackwolf that's so sad what your parents have said about throwing you out. To cope with depression, eat sensibly, not too much sugar, get plenty of sleep, fresh air and exercise. I wanted to leave home at 17 because I was so unhappy at home. I finally got away at 19 even though I was still in the religion. Start planning your life now for ability to earn money and pay your own bills. You will make new friends and it's going to be okay.

I would like to remind everyone that 48% of us did not want to leave the EU.

Well most of great art seems to come from emotional pain TB. Thanks for sharing. Many of us are there with you feeling that pain. Such a waste.

I spoke to my cousin last week and she had no idea what they believe even though most of my siblings have been in about sixty years. I told her they believe in the end of the world as we know it and everyone will be killed except JWs. She had no idea. Yeah I said with a grin they're just waiting for me to be destroyed. She just sees my sister as a nice lady with a cat!

Judge sanctions WTS - $4k per day penalty for not producing sex abuse documents
by Simon injudge sanctions jehovah's witnesses.
imposes $4000-a-day penalty for not producing documents in sex-abuse case.
by dorian hargrove, june 24, 2016. a san diego superior court judge has ordered the church of jehovah's witnesses, also known as the watchtower bible and tract society of pennsylvania, to pay $4000 a day for every day that it fails to produce documents requested in a civil lawsuit brought by former parishioner, osbaldo padron, who claims a church elder sexually abused him when he was seven years old.. in a june 23 ruling, expected to be made final today, judge richard strauss admonished the church for willfully ignoring a court order to produce all documents associated with a 1997 body of elders letter that church leaders sent to parishes around the world in a quest to learn about sexual abuse of children by church leaders.. over the course of the past year, the watchtower society and its lawyers have fought hard to keep the letter confidential, claiming that turning over the documents would infringe on the privacy of those mentioned in the letter that were not associated with the case.. in march 2015, the church turned over a heavily redacted version of the letter.

Obviously child abuse has been going on for millennia but 'recently' various legislation around the world has been enacted for their protection. The Children Act in the UK in1989 being one of them. This was less than thirty years ago and change is slow. There was the battle with defence lawyers citing false memory syndrome. Then the stress of law courts appearances until children were allowed to stay away from court and video their testimony.
We are now seeing an escalation of child abuse court cases globally with one after another celebrity being charged in the UK alone. I don't think the WTS realise how things have changed and there is no longer a climate to tolerate the rape of childre. They are always years behind the times and they are programmed to dismiss things as happening in 'the world' and not affecting them. I think they are in for a shock.

I know what this crisis was doing to you F&C from your last thread so I'm relieved you've found a way through it. Good for you. Keep an open mind and don't listen to anyone who says they have the truth, then you'll be safe. It was nice to see some of my suggestions and those of others in your post but the rest is all you. You found a way. So glad you're okay 🌹
