TD, I can remember something about 'this is at last bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh', because all the other animals in Eden had mates and Adam didn't. The JWs believe he was lonely or something and needed a helpmeet, whatever that means. I think that's from the AV actually.

Woman's Purpose
by StopTheTears ini'm probably going to say some things here that will disappoint many.
there are some that may look back over the years and say "man i really blew it" i'm not writing the following to scold for failures, but rather to help those who are young enough to put into practice what god wills for their life, and also to those of us who are in our middle years that still have time to change some things, in order to please god and find a peace that only being in his will can bring.
first let me say that god didn't create man for you.

If only elders gave this response whenever someone came to them complaining he saw some brother engaged in sin.
'I saw porn in brother Xs browsing history'
'Unmarried X and Y spent the night in a hotel together'
'I saw sr X smoking'
'While at work in the hospital, I noticed in the records X had a blood transfusion'
Sorry folks, it's beyond the legal and feasible scope of our congregation to monitor private activities...This is so true Barbara. The WTS secret police, the elders, hound people's private lives constantly but when child abuse occurs they are suddenly unable to do anything because it involves the congregation member's 'private activities'.

Start A Butterfly Garden!
by Bonsai intime to take a break from debating religion.
take in a breath of fresh air and be healed by the wonders of nature around you.. how many of you have a garden?
how many have a nice flower patch to go with your vegetable garden?

No it's not a coleus. I grew coleus from seed one year and the slugs ate them into holes. This plant just popped up between the paving. The butterflies and bees love the borage I grew from seed and yes the bright blue star flowers do taste of cucumber as Half Banana said they would.
Ooh 100 is too hot GT. It's 77 here and the garden and greenhouse are loving it.

Off On A Trip - But Little Enthusiam
by Joe Grundy innever was a jw, but been here a long time.. off on a trip in a week or so, uk to andorra to stay with a friend for 10 days or so (beautiful place) then a week or so wending through france back home.. did the same trip the last couple of years -it was wonderful.
met some lovely people, including an ex-polce woman over coffees and calvados after dinner.. but ... i don't feel so enthusiastic about this trip.
i'll visit the cathar sites and other places.. maybe- just maybe - i've come to the conclusion that these trips are not as much fun if you don't have a companion to share it with..

I love the Cathar castles and the scenery in the south of France. St George's Gorge, Lapradelle-Puilaurens, Quillan and medieval Carcassone. I know what you mean it's not the same traveling on your own. I've done it three times now and it can be lonely but I like going where I want and doing whatever I like, that's the upside of it and when you're in a restaurant eating you can enjoy the buzz around you. Have a great time.

I have to get this off my chest...cult equals guilible
by Sour Grapes intwo weeks ago while visiting a friend in north carolina, i agreed to go with him to the sunday public talk.
the public talk was about how the witnesses have the direction of angels while going in service.
the speaker told some real doozies and you could hear the "oohs and ahhs" from the audience.

I had an elder from the local cong call on me a few years back and tell me he had met a dear friend of mine while on holiday in Essex. While I was puzzling who this was he gave me an address of a couple my husband knew when he grew up in London. I did drop her a line out of curiosity but I was quite straight with her saying I was surprised she wanted to get in touch as we left about twenty- five years previously and they promptly shunned us at the time.
She sent me this gushy letter about how it must be Jehovah guiding the elder to visit her KH on holiday as he lived near us and knew of us otherwise how could she have ever found us again! It must be Jehovah guiding it. Of course he knew of us, the whole damned circuit knew about the elder and his wife who'd pioneered for years and suddenly da'ed, we were infamous among JWs, we were a do not call. After several letters it turns out she knew where we lived anyway because her mum knew my husband's aunt. So she could have got in touch any time, without 'divine' help. Just bullshit because when she heard I was now a widow she probably thought it would be a good time to swoop in thinking I was vulnerable...... Er I mean in need of help.
