Thanks Jambon, your experience reminds me to never give up on the JWs I know or come across in the street because that brave lady cared enough to help you see the religion was damaging you.

You know it's time to give up the JW religion when your route call tells you to
by jambon1 inlasting memory of the latter period of time in the organisation:.
i had a route call with the magazines whom i'd called on for a number of years.
eventually when i become a parent i became consumed with negativity, doubt (blood issue) & depression.

Why I DON'T Fear The Future - A Conversation With My JW Mum
by Divergent in3 questions i hit my jw mum with:.
first question: do you believe that god is love?
third question: do you think a god of love would choose to destroy me for not doing something i cannot do (be a jw) because i am not convinced rather than convince me beyond doubt?

Well done Divergent. This religion doesn't have any faith in their God to convince people of his existence or apparently in his ability to rid his organisation of paedophiles. Half of JWs seem to be atheists who believe in Satan. They only ever have stories about what demons can do, their God seems to be on a very long lunch break.

Copy of Crisis of Conscience for Sale
by Village Idiot ini’ve run into hard financial times and have decided to sell my second copy of coc for a fair price.
you’ll find them on amazon for ridiculous prices starting from $59.84 for a beat up used one to $294.96 and up for a new condition copy.
i’m selling mine in new condition for $50.00 plus shipping which should not be more than $5.

This seems like a bargain from VI. I don't understand why this book has become so expensive. It's over £200 on Amazon UK. Is it simply supply and demand that's pushed the price up?

I'm so sorry. How sad for your mother to give up seeing a grandchild for a fantasy.

I Found Something Better Than "The Truth"!
by Divergent ini often come across jw's using the "worldwide brotherhood" as one of the reasons to justify that jw's have "the truth.
" such a brotherhood, they claim, would not exist outside the organisation because there is no way that people of different religions, nationalities, races, cultures, backgrounds, languages etc.
can be united and associate together freely without "the truth!".

Thank you Divergent what a fascinating site, I'd never heard of it.

HQ move; a good thing?
by Half banana inso the new jw hq is to be in warwick and no longer that bleak architectural fixture on the brooklyn skyline.
actually it makes more sense after all, upstate new york is a more suitable place to have a unicorn ranch than in a city.
but it is just as easy to produce a drizzle of fairy dust out in the country as it had been in ny.

When we told my sister and her husband we were leaving the cult they said it must be the truth because look at all the expansion, new KHs and branch offices being built.
Now we know that KHs and branches are being closed and New York and London are moving to the country to free up cash. Yet I really think the JWs are bamboozled by these new branches. They really see it as expansion like my sister did.
Throughout history people have always needed visible evidence of God's intervention and religions give them that through grand buildings. Although some of these ugly new KHs I've seen I wonder what it says to them about their god.
I said at the time look at all the huge Cathedrals of Christendom, does that make them the true religion? Also I said to her what's the point of new buildings if they are full of miserable people who hate their lives. Suddenly all the complaints about the elders in her congregation and the way she and her husband had been treated were forgotten.

Hello everyone
by Lancashirelass ini just wanted to add my name to the many number of people who have awakened from the cult.
i have been lurking for probably 2 years now.
and i'm quite certain there are many more lurking and reading just like me.. i have to be honest and say that i most likely will not be contributing much to the discussion board.

Xanthippe - Thank you for the welcome. I hope your daughter is enjoying her time there.
Yes she is thanks. Made lots of friends and working on the student union council.
Glad you're enjoying the single life, there's a lot to be said for it. Leave the dishes until tomorrow, pour a glass of wine, watch what you want on telly. I've discovered I like to listen to classic fm all the time instead of that damn talk radio.

Hi and welcome. My daughter is doing her masters at Lancaster. I find Lancashire people to be very friendly and chatty. Glad you are fading and keeping family contacts. Enjoy your wine, my favourite tipple. 🍷

Why is religion in general so obsessed with what people choose to do with their willies and vaginas?
by jambon1 inwhat was it in the evolution of religion that got them so hung up about what people do with their genitalia?.
i mean, the (mis)use of genitalia is up there with murdering another human being in terms of badness.. and in the 21st century, we have a situation where in the jw religion, it's deemed as acceptable for three middle aged/old men to sit a teenage girl down and ask her the details of her use of her genitals.
to any normal person this is intrusive, completely inappropriate and bordering on deviancy.. why they so obsessed?.
