You're welcome ...
by Simon ini figured i'd shut the site down for a couple of hours to encourage everyone to do their xmas shopping.
the error message was a subtle hint, that's what "500 error" means ... go shopping.. whatever rumours you hear, it definitely wasn't that someone deployed a quick update before going on a 1.5 hour car ride to pick someone up and didn't think that the page they tested, to check it was all working after the update, happened to be cached.
no siree bob, not that, na hah.. anyway, you're welcome for the extra chance to, erm, shop..

We need a more tolerant community to conform in.
by The Rebel inas a witness i now realise how little control we really had over our life.
therefore naturally upon leaving everything became less certain.
this is because really leaving only happened when i let go of that past.

The great thing is you don't even need to conform outside this Borg. There are people at work who don't come to the Christmas party, don't bring cards in and a couple of them are openly Bah Humbug about it.

So when will the Society produce a comedy video on JWorg?
by stuckinarut2 inso according to 1 tim 1:11 jehovah is supposed to be a "happy god".. so when will we see "his people" produce a comedy video of some sort for the website?.
if you could propose an idea or storyline, what would it be?.

They could always show a clip of Jackson telling Angus Stewart he's looking forward to meeting Jesus. Then cut to Stewart's face. Priceless.

Knock knock."Who's there? Two elders!!
by Darkknight757 inso today was a cold and snowy day in my neck of the woods and the wife and i were just chilling around the house waiting to go to the church tonight for a candle lighting service when lo and behold we get a knock on the door.
yup, 2 elders from my old hall.
i figured they were fishing for some time so i invited them in and gave them some coffee and we talked about everything that happened and why we walk away from the jw's.

Oh I thought the columns of the earth were elephants at first glance Schnell, looking for the turtles they're standing on. That's about the right level of education for the elder's return.

So I bought a Harold Camping book.
by schnell ini found this at goodwill and i want to burn my eyes out a little.. .
camping predicted september 15, 1994 as the end of history in his 1992 book ingeniously titled "1994?
" he pulled the same thing for december of 2011 of course, and here we are.. .

Yes there's been lots of nutters starting many cults. Luckily he only gave the world two years, hopefully didn't ruin too many lives.

Elder wants to stop by with the CO for a visit .
by NikL inso i got a text from an elder who i consider one of the good guys and a friend in his own way.. he asked if he could bring the co by for a visit.
he said it would be "just a pleasant call and visit and will hopefully encourage my wife".
he says that "he knows she is dealing with a ton of pressure".. in all my years around the organization, i never had a visit from the circuit overseer.

Good that works in your favour. You seem to have a great relationship by the way, even with the Borg headship nonsense, you work round it with respect for each other.

4 million year old superbug in a cave in New Mexico
by schnell inhttp://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2016/12/10/504691357/million-year-old-hero-bug-emerges-from-cave.
this is pretty fascinating.
paenibacillum is not pathogenic, but is absolutely battle-hardened as far as bacteria go, having spent 4 million years in a 1600' deep cave that takes 10,000 years to get water from the surface and never sees sunlight..

Really interesting Schnell thanks. The bacteria is resistant to 70% of antibiotics and 100% resistant to natural antibiotics.
We've learnt from this that bacteria hasn't become resistant due to our overuse of antibiotics but the ability to develop that resistance is hardwired into the bacteria for survival.
It should help scientists understand resistance and how it works which is excellent news because we are rapidly reaching a superbug crisis.

black dog comes to visit
by zeb indear friends,.
once again my depression has got the better of me and i must bow out for a time.. "the angels sang glory to god in the highest and on earth peace unto men of goodwill'.
so if that means at this special time of the year then have a happy and safe christmas time all of you.. hugs.

Zeb, have a good rest. I had this for five years in my twenties so I know you need to rest and put yourself first now. No need to be strong, be whatever you feel. Lots of love and good thoughts coming your way. PM me if you want to talk. Hugs.

Did you ever think about being persecuted?
by Funchback ini was introduced to the jw religion at the age of 7. i can't recall when i was taught about having to suffer persecution in the so-called last days, but i do remember thinking that i would crumble under pressure.. as i entered my young adult years, i imagined how governments would persecute us.
i had thoughts of being tortured for information and then how i would say anything to the torturer just to stop the pain and then be labeled a modern-day judas, missing out on everlasting life.. the jw way of life and expectations are both scary and unrealistic.. i am glad i have canceled armageddon.
also, if i should ever be tortured for some belief or principle, i shall remain strong until the end.

Yes it frightened me. I can remember my mother saying that people who can control their breathing were the most successful at coping with torture. Don't you think this cult is evil for driving people that crazy!
