Site Updates
by Simon injust a heads-up that i will be testing some updates this evening.. the nature of the changes means it's difficult to test every scenario in advance offline (translation: it's a lot more effort and i just can't be bothered) so i'm going to go with the "wing-it" approach:.
deploy, check for errors, try to fix errors before anyone else notices them.. i can switch between the new and old version pretty quickly so if there are significant issues, i'll rollback and revert the changes while i work on the fixes.
worse case is the pages won't display quite right (dates might be a giveaway) but a full page refresh should fix things.. http://www.refreshyourcache.com/en/home/.

Be ready to obey!!
by kairos inhttp://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/w20131115/seven-shepherds-eight-dukes/.
from paragraph 17-. at that time, the life-saving direction that we receive from jehovah’s organization may not appear practical from a human standpoint.
all of us must be ready to obey any instructions we may receive, whether these appear sound from a strategic or human standpoint or not.. i think i know what the instructions will be.it's nothing new.

Reminds me of the announcement at a circuit assembly that we could no longer study just the Bible with people if that's what they wanted. These kind of statements should ring loud warning bells. Why would you follow a direction that doesn't seem sound from a human or strategic perspective? They might might as well say if we tell you to do something stupid just do it.

what is the craziest book the dubbers ever published?
by dogon inso i was wondering what book is the nuttiest they ever printed?
i know there are several in contention for first place but which is your vote for no 1?
also if you don't mind post a bit of what is in the book you pick to show why you picked it.

The Milgram experiment.
by The Rebel inthe milligan experiment was an experiment on obidience to authoritive figures.
it's worth checking out, for in my opinion the experiment showed how even before the conscience is desenthitized, people will go to any length to gain approval from their authoritive figure.
this clarified to me why many become ministerial sevants, elders and company men, giving their life to an organisation they proudly refer to as mother..

Which Watchtower publications did you keep?
by Schnufti ini'm currently cleaning up our bookcase and need to decide what goes into the trash.
i'll keep the watchtower books that are not available online anymore (e.g.
the brown "reasoning" book).

We kept one of the old green cross-reference Bibles and I think we might have an Aid book somewhere.

Met JWs today - they lied about who they were
by Xanthippe inso a couple came into the library where i work today and the woman said she was from the british sign language association and asked if i would display a leaflet for her.
when she handed me the leaflet the jw website logo jumped out at me as did the words 'would you like to study the bible with jehovah's witnesses?
' there was a small picture that had someone conversing in sign language but the other pictures were typical jw leaflet pictures.

Thanks for saying that Steve. Yes I normally do explain the library policy for accepting items for diplay and if she had handed it to me and said we are JWs please display this it would have been straightforward. I was dumbfounded by the barefaced lie.
My mind was racing but when a person says we represent one organization but they clearly represent something else entirely it is very difficult to speak especially, as you say, when one has to be tactful. Next time I will be ready for them.

I would contact the organization above and find out if they are aware of such an organization and how they were distributing WT publications under that organization's direction.
I might contact them Blondie. I'm sure the bda doesn't want religious organisations misrepresenting them.

Ruby you are a troll. You have trolled every single one of my threads talking utter rubbish, you troll everyone's threads. You have nothing useful to say. You don't encourage new people, you contribute nothing. I am not going to discuss this with you any more. You are a troll.

Hi Simon, just wanted to mention that today some of the adverts on the forum are cutting right accross the middle of posts instead of at the top. Never had that before. I'm on chrome on iPad. No biggy, just didn't know if it was something to do with upgrades. Thanks for all your hard work.
