It may have its origins in the teaching of purgatory but I think it means something quite different now. The way people write in an obituary that a person died peacefully at home or in hospital. We like to think it was a 'good death' that they didn't suffer. When we hear of a death people often say on here RIP but I don't think for a minute they mean hope you're not in hell, they mean hope it was peaceful.

Never give up!
by stuckinarut2 ini just wanted to share a quick thread to remind us all to never give up hope that our loved ones who are still mentally trapped in the org may one day wake up.. when i first starting waking up i never thought my wife would also awake.
i have always loved and respected her ability to think and reason, but i assumed that the hold of the organisation would always have its grip on her.. but slowly, and with patience, i shared some things i had learned, and the results have been amazing!.
my dear wife, who posts here under the name "unstuck" is so fully awake along with me.

1985? That was just about the time my brother in law got the sack for stealing from his employer. The congregation removed him from being an elder so he moved a hundred miles or so away and soon got reappointed.

Which was the one in the late eighties that was about evolution. Creation book? There was a section about penduline tits. Yes folks it's a bird, but there was a huge amount of shuffling and smirking at the book study I attended.

Reaction of Governing Body Belies More than their Accusation
by carefullyread ina disfellowshiped brother wrote a letter of disquisition to the governing body of wbts a little while ago.
it was not in any way nasty, derogatory, rude, blasphemous, or with profanity but it was civil, truthful, & very informative that some have described as extremely truthful to enlightening, an ebullient disclosure.
i got to see some paraphrases extracted from it that have been circulating quietly or rather secretly passed around & i agree with the latter description.. the governing body was greatly perturbed, alarmed, to confused with this letter particularly as they became aware several of the congregation were also sent copies which some of the local congregational elders raised controversial questions about but mainly was dismissed by them without reading, to scoffing & ridicule but some also saw something more truthful to concern them.

Carefullyread I would like to hear more please. I am English too and I don't find your style pompous at all plus I don't need a dictionary to read your posts. Please don't leave, we're not all childish and suspicious.

It's good to hear you're finding genuine friends. Pity about your family! Hope your new roommates made up for missing the graduation, sounds like they did.

Like it! It's okay to stop, listen and change. Yes! It doesn't matter how many times your house falls down you can rebuild it. I've kind of decided to leave mine in a bit of a heap because I get fed up of changing it.

No matter our beliefs, we can all benefit from some simple wisdom about "karma." 12 Laws of Karma That Will Change Your Life
by kpop inwhether atheist, such as myself, agnostic or a strong believer in a god, i'd like to share something with you all about karma.
it relates back to my post about marcus aurelius and a quote often accredited to him on the best way to live.
i think this will benefit those who are just waking up from the jw cult and wondering, what's next?.

I still believe in being the best person I can be no matter what happens.
So do I because that's the kind of world I want to live in and it's good for me too.

Kpop this was a big problem for me in the JW religion. My husband and I were kind, good to people in the congregation and we worked damned hard at pioneering. What we got back from the congregation was unkindness and jealousy from the other elders. Do you know that scripture cast your bread on the water and it will come back to you after many days. After a while my husband and I used to say cast your bread on the water and what do get back, soggy bread.
So to get logical results from hard work and trying to live ethically a central point to remember is get out of a cult first! If you're in a bad situation, and you can insert, war zone, poverty, serious illness, cult, whatever and your karma law number one does not happen do you see?

Site Updates
by Simon injust a heads-up that i will be testing some updates this evening.. the nature of the changes means it's difficult to test every scenario in advance offline (translation: it's a lot more effort and i just can't be bothered) so i'm going to go with the "wing-it" approach:.
deploy, check for errors, try to fix errors before anyone else notices them.. i can switch between the new and old version pretty quickly so if there are significant issues, i'll rollback and revert the changes while i work on the fixes.
worse case is the pages won't display quite right (dates might be a giveaway) but a full page refresh should fix things.. http://www.refreshyourcache.com/en/home/.
