Just need to vent a little
by Phoebe inin the last week i have had three visits from brothers.
so 6 witnesses in all as they come in pairs.
now considering i used to go to the meetings, sit by myself and literally no one talked to me - ever - why the concern all of a sudden?.

Pheobe you don't need to 'sort yourself out' at all. You've raised children with minds of their own who have all gone to university and now have good jobs. Well done! Perhaps your anxiety disorder will go with a few more months away from this horrible religion where people let you sit all on your own for twenty years! Take care.

When if was 18 or 19 I went to a convention and had the feeling that something was wrong, like something was missing. So not as young as you, I was a bit slow on the uptake. But I do remember when I was eight I was at the book study when I just started crying and couldn't stop. I was overwhelmed with the feeling that now, with experience of it, I would call raw grief, dreadful pain and sadness. What that was about I don't know.

Seeking Riches That Are True
by NJ501 inyour thoughts on today's watchtower?.

how can material possessions be used to strengthen our friendship with god?

Don't give them any more of your hard-earned. Book a holiday, have a slap-up meal out with friends, buy some books about something other than this pathetic cult.

Did You Enjoy Your "Vacations " As a JW?
by minimus inwe went on "vacation " every year because we were jehovah's witnesses!
we were so fortunate to stay in a cheap hotel more often than not so that we could enjoy a witness convention.. we never enjoyed a real vacation though until many years later and the funny thing is---so many jws thought it was so materialistic because we went on more than one "vacation " per year..

Minimus yes I thought there were some seven day conventions.

One of my greatest regrets is that we only had three holidays in my entire childhood. Yes we went to conventions instead. Boring football stadiums for days on end. Were there conventions for five days or did I dream it? Wicked when I think how little money my mother had and those fat cats in America with their rock star lifestyle.
That's why I'm so keen to make up for lost time. I've been to much of Europe, might try India this winter. For my parents they never left the UK and it's too late for them.

Watchtower Society of Australia Financial reports to Charity Commission.
by doubtfull1799 inscreen capture from the watchtower society of australia's article's of association:.
i wonder how item (e) is defined and whether they actually provide any money for charitable poverty relief?
if so, i would love to see the evidence.

Thanks doubtful1799. You have to wonder, looking at that list of requirements, if the whole point of the preaching work and pioneer, missionary schools, was so this publishing and real estate company could register as a charity all over the world and escape paying tax. They certainly don't do any relief of poverty and never have done.

"The Governing Body is neither inspired nor infallible. Therefore, it can err in doctrinal matters or in organizational direction." -- Feb 2017 Watchtower
by cognisonance infull stop.
(paragraph 12 -- feburary 2017 watchtower -- who is leading god's people today?
)so why then would any jw abide by harmful doctrines setup by the governing body (blood, shunning, the two-witness rule, etc)?

If they're neither inspired nor infallible how the heck can they be the FDS? Why would anyone be disfellowshipped for not believing they're god's representatives? Everyone that has doubts gets the loyalty question but if they don't know what their God is thinking why should anyone follow them?

Some Good News About Me (Although Anthony Morris Will Be Furious)
by pale.emperor injust wanted to share with you some good news i'm really excited about.
i have been accepted for university to study psychology and counseling.
my goal is to become a counselor and, in time, to specialize on treating those who have left high control relationships/groups like we all did.. it'll take a few years before im qualified but studying in university has been a dream of mine since i was 12, which was systematically dashed to pieces by watchtower.. .
