I'd hate to see you miss an opportunity to keep in touch because you thought she was ignoring you. ( just sayin')
- Thanks Pete I do appreciate it. Some people are just so screwed up by this cult it's hard to know what to do, you know? When I left I wrote to my sister and she didn't reply to several letters. Eventually I phoned her and asked her why she hadn't replied, she said it seemed like my letters were trying to get a reaction from her. What do you say to that? Eh yes they were, I would have liked a reply!
- She said she was going to put the phone down and I started to cry. I said I don't think you'll ever phone me again. She said I will, you will just have to trust me.
- Twelve years later I sent her a card because I heard she was seriously ill, she phoned and thanked me and soon after that it went back to 'normal'. Sorry Pete, I just don't understand people like this, it just doesn't compute.

My sister has a different view of shunning to my brother-in-law, but he doesn't know
by Xanthippe inmy library has volunteers who run the local history department.
they put up an exhibition last month called women at war and they asked for photos of people in uniform who aided the war effort in wwll.
i offered a photo of my mother in her red cross nurse's uniform but then i couldn't find it so i had to write to my sister asking if she had it.. i addressed it to her and her husband explaining why i wanted it and just wrote as if this is family property and i needed it.

A wave of momentum!
by stuckinarut2 init certainly has to be one of the most exciting times to live in as an awake ex witness!.
the wave of momentum we are part of as thousands awaken from the hold of the society is a joy to be a part of.
the internet helps us to see that we are not alone.

Yes Stuck it is exciting, especially when you've been waiitng for nearly thirty years. We got on with our lives because we'd already lost our youth to that religious cult. Until five years ago, although I did know about this forum I didn't look on it.
You get used to just ploughing on and we'd made a new life for ourselves. We were happy but it's been amazing to find hundreds of people on here, YouTube and other sites who've been though exactly the same things I have. It's helped me enormously. Now seeing this cult starting to shrink is very encouraging. It might be too late for my family but where there's life there's hope.

MrRoboto and Punky maybe he is waking up, I hope so. They both use to moan like crazy about the stuff that went on in their congregation, until we left. Then everything was rosy.

My library has volunteers who run the local history department. They put up an exhibition last month called Women at War and they asked for photos of people in uniform who aided the war effort in WWll. I offered a photo of my mother in her Red Cross nurse's uniform but then I couldn't find it so I had to write to my sister asking if she had it.
I addressed it to her and her husband explaining why I wanted it and just wrote as if this is family property and I needed it. They did send it and my sister put a note in saying we think this is the one you mean. I was delighted and it was good to see my mother's face every day at work for a month doing something useful for the world before she became a JW. It made me proud.
Then I thought I would like to thank my sister so I used the mobile phone number I've not used since my parents died and sent her a text telling her how good the photo looked enlarged in the exhibition and thanking her. She didn't reply, absolutely nothing and yet in the card she sent with the knowledge of her husband she was fine, even chatty.
This confirms what I've suspected for a while that the reason she makes a point of kissing me and my daughter at funerals and trying to engage me in conversation is it's all for her husband's benefit. I thought it was for the nonJW relatives but they know how she treats us.
Years ago I remember him phoning me offering to mow my lawns when my husband died and I said this is a surprise! He said well his wife, my sister, phones me regularly doesn't she. I told him she doesn't you know, she doesn't keep in touch. He didn't believe me, she's convinced him she contacts me regularly.
It just seems so two-faced to me! Again I wonder if some of these people actually believe in god, who do they think they're fooling. Also why so many different attitudes to shunning? Who is following the correct rule as I'm disassociated, her or him? She has never taken advantage of the family business thing to keep in touch. I'm sure she could if she wanted to.
Anyway rant over, thanks for reading.

No other religion is as guilty as JW religion—you know why?
by venus inall other religions have myths that show satan as inferior to god almighty.
but only jw religion portrays satan more powerful than god through their teaching of “issue of sovereignty” which implies god almighty needs validation from satan as though he waits till satan is satisfied which has not happened even after killing of jesus 2000 years ago and things like ethnic cleansing, spilling of oceans of blood ….
etc..

Venus I basically agree with you on this as JWs have come up with the universal sovereignty doctrine because the kingdom of God hasn't arrived yet, as you say even with their belief in the ransom sacrifice of Jesus.
Probably because they don't believe everyone goes to heaven they've come up with an answer as to why our reward of a paradise earth has taken so damn long to get here.
We're waiting for God to give an answer to Satan, as in Job's account, proof that people serve him out of love and not for reward. As with everything the JWs believe they keep having to think of ridiculous reasons why paradise has been delayed.

If God is the father, he would definitely know the capacity of his children. Man is capable of solving all the problems on earth, he really wants. Already some parts of earth is like paradise which can be extended to other parts if humans really wants.
I feel you're missing the point here Venus. You seem to have agreed with me that God is impotent in human affairs although you think he is watching us because we are clever children and we'll get it right in the end. The point is he isn't doing anything and as we know how we got here through evolution there is no evidence for his existence.

First constructive change should be this--ban all religions.
Then arrange a panel of experts from all countries to find out ways to avoid all other wastages
So you have left religion behind, we have something in common. Personally I think you need to push yourself one step further and accept that we will eventually find an explanation for 'unexplainable' phenomena, of which there are many, without resort to a supernatural being.
We don't yet have the physics to answer all our questions but resorting to a god of the gaps is a) ignoring all the evidence that he isn't there and b) missing all the fun of finding the real answers to all the amazing things still to be discovered.

People learn through experience—they are supposed to repeat what brings benefits, and to avoid what brings harm to them and others.—in that case, He doesn’t have to communicate with us. -venus
So God watched while humans burnt hundreds of screaming humans so we could learn from experience that religious bigotry has no value? Did he have popcorn?
