being a jehovah's witness for many years has a very damaging effect on becoming who he really are, many of the drives we were born with get subverted to corporation's directives, and we stuff lots of ourselves into our shadow(jungian), as we take on the "new personality" we become an easy to manipulate corporate drone.
in other words we really loose contact with authentic self, and to some extent a little hollow.. a search for our true self will require some alone time and can be scary and filled with some perils.
i did it for some time and it can make you a little odd, and you could wind up doing some crazy shit but over all i will say it was necessary and eventually rewarding, and i gotten quite used to it and now a days i have people around but value my time alone when every i can get it.. anyway this video interest me and i thought i would share.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfyczlbcavk.
According to Maslow self actualization is at the top of the hierarchy of needs and is reaching one full potential which is only rarely reached
I was talking to my daughter about this and she pointed out that physical needs are at the bottom of Maslow's hierarchy of needs and yet many artists living in poverty produced beautiful works of art.
since leaving the jw's after over 4 decades, i can see exactly what it is and hate everything it stands for.
however, there are still some jw habits and traits that i can't get rid of:.
1. i can't swear in general conversation (i'd have to be really angry).

I zone out in meetings at work. Can't focus on anyone who's boring. It's like throwing a switch, as soon as I'm bored I'm away with the fairies. Anyway I miss so much stupid shit in staff meetings. (Swearing? No problem)

You've got to remember that Ian McEwan who wrote the book and the screenplay is a well known atheist and he's very anti religion. If it shows the hypocrisy of the cult it's because that's how he sees it.
He is an intelligent writer, he understands that if you write a book just overtly attacking religion it won't go down well in the UK so he mixes it up with a marriage and a look at an interesting profession.

well today marks the beginning and biggest day of our protest at the london excel.. we believe it's a record number at around 100 exjws at the front door.. we spoke to lots of jw's and one young man studying who has quit after talking to us.

Ian McEwan's book that the film is based on a is a very good read. The issues are complex. The judge deals in family law, parents fighting over custody of children in divorce cases and so on. It compares her, Emma Thompson's, lack of children to the family who are willing to let their son die for their beliefs. Also his intelligence and musical ability which will all die with him. Good book, looking forward to the film.

I was genuinely shocked at how many JWs came and spoke to us, took videos and photos of our banners and were generally inquisitive about our posters - FarmerJim1
I have never seen this outside a convention. We used to just walk by with eyes averted, too afraid to even read them. If people are taking photos of the banners they definitely want to look at the words later. Good for you Jim, keep up the good work.
on rotten tomatoes, apostasy has 100% success from critics (very rarely that critics are unanimous in their approval of a film) and 97% from the audience.
i have loved reading the reviews as they are almost all ex jw's but there is one glaring review that is almost certainly from one active jw who is pleading that the film be banned, even though they haven't actually seen it (typical) and it made me laugh:.

Really interesting reviews, thanks for sharing. Shocking that 'John V' who was a JW for sixty years says he and his wife shunned two daughters at age sixteen for ten years. Sad story but it shows anyone can eventually see TTATT and leave. Hope they're reunited with their daughters now.
