This section was full of condemnation for the wicked religious leaders who were focusing on minor silly things rather than deep important topics. It's called projection in psychology. Projecting your faults onto others and not being able to see that you have them.

"Straining the gnat, and gulping the camel"
by stuckinarut2 inwhile watching the annual meeting videos on the official jw channel, i was struck with this scriptural expression:.
"they strain out the gnat, while gulping the camel" matt 23:24. this section was full of condemnation for the wicked religious leaders who were focusing on minor silly things rather than deep important topics.. the amount of silly things the gb focuses on is amazing!
they pedantically focus on things like proper pronunciation of words, (such as s lett joking about how isiah is best said), while missing major issues and topics like the proper handling of child abuse issues, or the court cases being lost worldwide!.

Evidence of a form of telepathy, science and personal experiences.
by Bad_Wolf ini believe in rational explanations for everything, whether they are understood yet or not.
medication used to be considered 'magic' until understood how it worked.
on the subject of telepathy, for me it's very subtle but has happened many times.

Actually he leaves the god question open as many have said on this forum we cannot say for sure there isn't one, we can only say the Christian God or any God who gives a damn about us doesn't exist.
'These things' don't always turn to magic at all, people are trying to suggest rational explanations, are you sure you have read a) Hawking b) this thread?

By the way - there are about 80k astrophysicist and thousands of theoretical physicists. - wilyouDFme
You might find Stephen Hawking's last book, Brief Answers to the Big Questions interesting. Arguably one of the greatest theoretical physicists and scientific minds the world has ever known, he tackles questions regarding is there a God, predicting the future and alien life, in the most amazingly humble way. Notably he does not SHOUT at us willyouDFme. Perhaps you could emulate his intelligent example? -

Like the Bronze Age religion it is, they view women and children as property not human beings to be cherished.

Anyone every heard anything about your own blood?
by Tobyjones262 ini was wondering if there was any policy from the cult about your own blood in you cut your finger and put it in your mouth out of reflex ect.
what if any is the position of this?
i always thought the amount of blood is not the real issue, even a drop would be a sin?.

As I understand it it's an evolutionary instinct that cleans the wound and provides antiseptic from our saliva.
Of course JWs don't believe in evolution. I remember this kind of question occupying the minds of some congregation members. What can I say? I suppose it's a distraction from why hasn't the new system come yet, why is this religion always wrong?

The Berlin Wall came down in 1989, I remember it because we left the JWs that year. There was a lot of talk of peace and security, the words were splashed across newspapers. We thought it was odd that nobody in our congregation was interested. Too busy fighting among themselves and the elders stepping on heads.

I'm amazed at quantum physics too Bobcat, especially that we can affect things at the quantum level by observing them. So there is a link between living and non-living things at that level. There's still so much we don't know. I agree no need for woo woo. Isn't she in the Mikado?

Since when does a slave appoint itself over anything???
by Roger Kirkpatrick inat matthew 24:45, where jesus discussed the faithful and discreet slave, he gave only two identifying features of that slave.
(1) providing the master’s domestics food at the proper time; and, (2) after having done so, being appointed by the master himself over all the master’s belongings.. since current watchtower teaching is that the appointment over all the master’s belongings is yet future and that such appointment is to be made by the master himself, how does the governing body of jehovah’s witnesses account for the fact that it has preemptively identified itself as that faithful and discreet slave?.
surely there remains among believing jws some who can discern the problem with this teaching!
