I'm sure now thinking about it this wasn't the teaching thirty years ago. The remnant who were still alive at the big A were going to be 'Princes' on earth until they died. Doesnt anyone remember that?

So the Witnesses still believe in rapture
by eyeslice2 inaccording today's watchtower, all the remaining ones of the anointed ones will be in heaven when the great tribulation breaks to join jesus in the battle against evil.
the watchtower was making the point that at that time god's organization will be ran by members of the 'other sheep'.
it didn't say how these remaining ones find themselves in heaven, but presumably they will be taken, i.e.

Stupid armageddon false alarms
by purrpurr inwhen i was 5/6 i remember being in the car with my jw mom and a jw sister.
they noticed a yellow ish glowing cloud in the sky which really freaked them out and they both declared that it must be a sign that armageddon was here!
they then spent the whole car trip declaring that the police and army were about to come and round up all of us.

The evil thing this cult does by perpetuating this 'God will save you soon' teaching is preventing people from trying to solve their own problems.

Thanks respectful_observer, it's obvious they do believe in a type of rapture. If flesh and blood cannot inherit god's kingdom but the remnant will be in heaven to share in the war of Armaggedon they will be taken up, bodies left behind, effectively left for dead to all human observers.
As you said playing with words again to look as though their teachings are different from the rest of Christendom. I really don't remember this teaching as a JW thirty years ago I wonder when it started?

Science and Watchtower's astounding ignorance
by Diogenesister inwell these goof balls at jwbroadcast apparently think the study of pure science means not having any "practical application".
oi vey.
sanderson may speak russian but he is so ill educated he appears to think that researching a subject and formulating a theory about it means that's the end of it - in other words he's saying it has no practical use.

Lancelink, you should definitely tell your college what these idiots believe about education. It's going against the values of the college to have a trolley outside it regularly.

Thanks Diog, omg I could only stand a few minutes of that. Mocking the study of science which does 'nothing to help others'! What an idiot. Wait until he needs a triple bypass, who's he gonna call? A Gilead graduate?
They've always been down on education but this is a blatant celebration of ignorance. Also didn't their God create insects and bacteria, but it's laughable to study them is it? It's not laughable if your child has malaria or meningitis. Try calling a janitor/elder then.

I've been thinking about this Smiddy and I was going to write about all the good stuff in my life now but there's something else I want to say and I'm grateful to you for your question.
Sometimes people accuse me of overthinking things, of over-analysing everything. I don't give a damn what they think, this brain and this personality got me out of a crazy cult. Whatever combination of genes and my own decisions to not be told what to think or do led to it, I'm grateful for it.

What Do You Think About Organized Sit Ins That Are Disruptive?
by minimus inmarches, sit ins, traffic blocking is the new normal for people to demonstrate.
they block highways, state buildings and roadways.
they may even get arrested but invariably get turned loose by the courts.. i think it’s disgraceful to demonstrate this way.

Instinctively I am inclined to agree with you, it feels very wrong to disrupt people's lives but rationally I know without the use of those methods I wouldn't be allowed to vote in the election tomorrow.

"Get Over It!"
by The Bethelite inthis is what my children tell me... get over the whole jehovah's witness thing!
yes, they tell me they have gotten over the whole thing and they tell me that and i need to also.
my exgirl friend who was raised as a jw also has said the same thing.. my children say they got over it, however they are quick to point out how messed up their lives are now because of no college education and other missed opportunities.

'Get over it!' does sound harsh. Especially if your kids still complain about what the religion has done to them.
Life isn't fair that's for sure, I guess I just want to even up the odds a little. I don't want this cult to take my whole life. The plus side is I now think for myself and refuse to listen to nonsense from anyone who doesn't have evidence. I won't get caught up in the ridiculous spending at this time of year because I see through advertising. I don't want to impress my friends or neighbours. After you've lost your entire family and all your friends you're over impressing people.
So the truth has set me free. Ha ha! Free from all the nonsense that keeps people on the hamster wheel. This isn't what the cult did for me though, it's what I've done by reflecting on my early life and not wanting to be a slave to any ideology ever again.
