My JW sister has refused to have an aerial-connected TV in the house for years. She used to have one only for watching vids and I am almost certain she doesn't have a computer. So, head in the sand, feet waving in the air.

How is Joe Publisher reacting to all the TV coverage on the abuse cases?

i have had virtually no contact with any witnesses beside my mother for the past few years.
she watches tv constantly and claims she has never seen anything on the watchtower abuse cases.

Mind control.
by New day inin a recent thread someone mentioned that the wtbts uses mind control techniques.
do you think this is a conscious ploy?
if it is it would mean that the leaders of my religion (i am still an active jw) set out consciously to control people.

This is also supported by a lot of the prayers given thanking "the slave" for the abundant spiritual food.
Yes I've heard this on the forum New Day and it amazes me. When I was a witness prayers were about talking to and praising Jehovah. Now they seem to be about praising the GB!

15 Years of Jehovahs-Witness.com

i never thought for one moment that it would survive this long or have so many people post so many great subjects over the years.. it is still humbling when i get pm's or emails from people expressing how the site has helped them and of course thanks goes to all the posters who have shared their experiences and make helpful and supportive comments to others who are in the sometimes difficult process of learning the real truth about 'the truth'.. the site has gone through several different incarnations over the last 15 years running on different platforms, different databases and different hosts but we've been able to keep all the old topics.
the current site is still being developed and i'm hoping to push another major upgrade soon.. i also may have some other news to share soon about the future of the site so stay posted.. until then, here's the the next 15 years!

JW child taken out of hospital - now cured of cancer

if you remember the child's parents took him out of the southampton, uk hospital against the doctors' advice to have proton beam therapy for his brain tumour in prague.

Just to be clear I was referencing the BBC who in this article are quoting the child's parents who say he is free of cancer.
I thought as we had pages and pages of this story on this forum it would be fair to look at the follow-up story.
My sister survived cancer and my cousin is undergoing chemotherapy at the moment for cancer, both long processes, so I know this child isn't out of the woods yet but like Phizzy and bemused I think this is great news and I wish this family all the very best.

Hi vinman and welcome. My husband and I were true believers too. He was an elder and he pioneered for 15 years and I pioneered for 10. I wanted to save lives because I thought people were going to die at Armageddon.
When did we stop researching the WTS? At first we were very busy getting our lives on track. We had to get jobs, my husband was cleaning windows. We eventually studied for degrees to get better jobs so we could buy a small house. Then we had a baby before it was too late for us.
Your life has been different, you need to get your head clear for the sake of your family. When to stop researching? When you are sure you will never return to thinking it's the truth.
Just take your time and realise that this is the beginning of a very long journey. If you want to stop and take a break then that's a good idea. Each time I read a new book I had to take a break from reading for a week to take it in. We were sheltered from reality and facing up to it can be hard.
As smiddy said many of us have continued researching the Bible and found it equally wanting. The WTS didn't stop us believing, our research did. Take your time, keep it to yourself for now and come on here to vent. Where you stop your research is entirely up to you. Personally I love reality, but it's not for the faint-hearted. Take care.

Wife fully awake.

i just shared the pbs newshour segment with her with no comment other than something along the lines of, "jw story on pbs.".
she is furious at the arrogance of these men.. thats what happens when you get a momma angry!.

The end justifies the means every time with this organisation. They tell themselves they are controlling people for the sake of their everlasting life. Which incidentally was the reason the Inquisition gave when they tortured people to death.
