I'm so sorry, you've been through a terrible time with your mother your whole life and now this. I hope after the funeral you can begin to move on from the harm this dysfunctional woman caused you. Take care, it's time for you now.

Happy New Year! My personal success this year...

Well done on getting half way through your first year of teaching. You've worked hard and deserve to pat yourself on the back.
Kids learning to drive is scary isn't it? My daughter started driving to and from university this year to do her masters degree. A journey that takes her three hours on the motorway. Scares me to death. Good luck with your son learning!

Welcome to the forum Doublespeak. Yes they take advantage of ignorance. Appalling lies in the 'evolution' book about the lack of fossil evidence. Just enough fossils to fit on a dining table I remember!
Also ignorance of basic Christian dogma, so they steal the well established doctrine of Atonement from 'Babylon the Great', call it the new Ransom Sacrifice teaching and say they had it revealed to them by Holy Spirit.
They did the same with the expulsion from the garden of Eden, going on about fans slowing down and imperfection causing old age and death. This is an old teaching known as The Fall.
They just rehashed centuries old teachings from the Catholic Church and said God revealed them to Russell and Rutherford. The ignorance of the general membership of this religion has allowed it to happen. Taken advantage of such ignorance to bind people in a cult is unforgivable.

One thing that the WTS & Religion in general has going for it ....

yeah, i know, as pete kaye would say: "old people, you can't beat 'em .... pity".. but seriously, where else would you have a bunch or 17 year old lads chatting with some 80+ year old guy?.
i remember some of the old people in our old kh and they were genuinely nice people.

AgeUK have a befriending sevice where you can visit elderly people, many who say they haven't had a visit from family for over a month. I'd rather volunteer to do that than go to a KH.
Older people are great. I've taught Internet and iPad use to many in my job and they're lovely to talk to, very grateful for help. If libraries close in my county and I get chucked out of my job in April 2018 I might work or volunteer to help the elderly.

A Comforting Thought About Watchtower

they peaked in the form they were, i believe they were already falling apart in ways, but from the outside and to the majority r&f, things likely still seemed on the up and up.
browsing through the boards and just keeping my finger on the pulse of what's happening, this organization will never again be what it was.

My cousin who gets invited to my JW sister's home for a meal and can't understand why I don't showed me a photo she took recently. My sister couldn't even be bothered to smile, to even put on a pretence of being happy.
Such a picture of depression, talk about the fire dying. Those still in must know paradise has been postponed indefinitely and they are going to die 'in this system'. It's a different religion to the one I left.

she battled bipolar disorder and came back to acting.
then we lost her.

Very sad for Carrie's daughter to lose her mother and grandmother in two days, she's only 24. My thoughts are with the family.
