i did some self-reflection today trying to determine why, with every passing day, i become angrier against the watchtower company.
i am in my 70's and my health is failing.
at first, i thought it was because "worldly" people couldn't care less about jdubs and the little world they live in even though the witlesses think that the earth revolves around them and their desert god who was originally worshipped by the cainites.
Is it so small a thing
To have enjoy'd the sun,

It's no small thing to learn to enjoy life after our past, it's a victory! It's a victory for honesty and integrity. Live light in the spring sour grapes. Enjoy the sun.
many years back, my younger brother and i were the most mischievous kids in the kingdom hall.
we would mischievously take away things like the bible , study magazines, etc from meeting attendees.
soon, they will suspect us if anything went missing.. our parents were annoyed with our conduct and behaviour.. they requested an elder to talk to us.

Seems a shame to waste our one moment on earth feeling angry and regretting our lives. Life's a bitch and then you die but in the meantime ........
so, i am having lunch with a group of women with varying backgrounds.
i asked the circle how many believed in the story of adam and eve and the snake.
no one believed it literally.
Always struggled with this teaching as a teenager. It's very monetary isn't it, Adam lost perfection, Jesus died to get it back. Very legalistic. I always though it was weird we had to be grateful to God for torturing his son to death when he made the wacky bargain anyway. He was living by his own weird rules.
what is russell's motive when he started examining the bible with a group of bible students?
did he intend to form a cult and to mislead others?

Perhaps he was just a poor little rich boy trying to find himself. His family was wealthy enough for him to be able to afford the luxury of existential angst. Unfortunately he was a man of his time, with no internet he turned to the Bible and religion.
Too early for a library card, Carnegie was still making his fortune. If only Russell had read Origin of Species instead of Bible commentaries, how different his life and ours would be.
Tomorrow I'm flying business class and staying in a five star hotel being treated like a king by the local congregation........but first I have to talk to these idiots.

The motives of the ordinary folk who looked to people like Russell in the nineteenth century may have been genuine, desperate for answers for the reasons I gave but are the r+f JWs genuine now? Or are they just too lazy and too cowardly to leave? In the information rich world we live in how can anyone be so ignorant?

Life was hard in the 1870s even in Western countries. A lot of poverty, misery and sickness around. Heck people could die from complications from a cold, no antibiotics. So people were searching for answers and a lot of cults sprang up.
Do we need them now? No! We have answers, we have science, medicine, wonderful food from all over the world, technology that was beyond belief in the nineteenth century. They are anachronistic nonsense, these religions, be done with them.
i'm having one of those days where i feel lonely and wish i had someone to just hang out with.
my husband got disfellowshipped 3 years ago and even though i didn't do anything wrong i was pushed away.
my so called "friends" decided to avoid me.
There is a co-worker that wants to hangout and I would really like to. How do I push this endoctrination out of my head that it's not fine to be friends with someone who is not a JW? I feel like a big mess bleh.
That sounds great, just don't get too heavy about it, keep it light, no need to tell your life story, just hang out. If you don't enjoy hanging out with this person just don't accept further invitations. Don't worry about it. People in the real world don't shun you if you just don't want to hang out.
we received an invitation in the mail yesterday for my jw niece's wedding.. i am posting this just to add for any lurkers to see typical jw practices.. 1st - and perfectly understandable for anybody who is or was a jw.

You raised an amazing daughter, intelligent enough not to get baptised and yet still loving and open-minded, remembering the affection she had for her cousin as a child. You helped her to be strong emotionally so she is not broken by this, good for you.
