Incognito how did you know what you were doing? You thought it was the truth and that the leaders spoke for God. How can being fooled into dedicating yourself to serve a publishing/real estate company be seen as acting from free will? I don't understand.

it seemed like a pretty poor reason to get baptised. I’m sure there must have been more to it than that. I hope. Intriguing that whoever organised the programme thought this would appeal to young people
They like to get young people baptised as soon as possible so if they realise it's all a lie and start asking questions they can disfellowship them immediately.

I did read it through. It's good for some people to know not all religions are like JWs in predicting the end times. My mother-in-law seems to get a lot of comfort from her church after leaving the JWs although it's not my cup of tea.
The scientists who warn us of the dangers of climate change . The environmentalists who tell of the pollution of our oceans by plastic . The horticulturists who report a decline in insects due to the use of pesticides . Perhaps it is these people who are the true prophets today rather than the ' religious folk ' They are more in keeping with the examples of prophets in the Old Testament .
I just don't know how he thinks scientists are like the Old Testament prophets, that meticulously working with data is like Bible prophets but it's good to see religious people not slagging off scientists like the JWs do.
Actions born from love are more beneficial than those born from despair I agree.
edit: oh hang on is he saying scientists are prophets of doom like in the Old Testament? Therefore the answer is not to listen to any of these prophets, religious or scientific but rather live from love not despair, is that what you get out of it Jan?
How about supporting environmental efforts to save our planet?

Paradise Earth
by Jeff1 injust recently i was looking at a topic on jwfacts entitled 'paradise on earth forever.
' from the research paul did on this topic he mentioned that there is no biblical evidence of an earthly resurrection.
i haven't heard this before but wanted to get some thoughts on this topic.

If we aren't designed to live forever on this Earth why didn't God just create us in heaven in the first place?
Welcome Jeff1. That's a good question. The next question should be, are we designed?
Since the 144,000 are the only ones who will have a "resurrection" (to heaven) what hope do any of us have that are not anointed?
As you say why continue serving God if we're just going to die? Yes I agree it is disappointing, that's a huge understatement! One that all of us here have had to deal with.
The thing is about reality Jeff is that it just is. Humans have found many ways to deal with it. Live your life to the full. Find ways to make it fulfilling. Art, music, travel, helping others.
Good to see you here.

The phrase "one of Jehovah's Witnesses"
by Ding injws don't say, "i am a jehovah's witness.".
instead, they say, "i am one of jehovah's witnesses.".
what does the second way of saying it convey that the first does not?.

Instead, they say, "I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses."
Yes of course just as you would say "I am one of Peter's friends"
You wouldn't say "I am a Peter's friend", that sounds ridiculous. For once I don't think they're being devious, they're just being grammatical.

'As regards Watch Tower’s Cease and Desist letters threatening damages long with attorney fees, it’s worth noting that their copyrights are not registered with the Copyright Office. We here at AvoidJW.org are confident that Watch Tower are not going to register their Shepherd the Flock of God book or their Branch Orgnization book. For them to do that, they’d have to give up their secrets. And if they do that, AvoidJW’s very reason for existing would end. Either way, we win.'

Zeb I had nightmares and sleep paralysis sometimes doing night feeds when my baby was born. It seemed to be connected to waking up a lot during the night and then dropping off again. Perhaps you are awake off and on in the night with your back pain?

Welcome HBF I understand your desire to make a normal life for your children. I hope if you have a birthday party for your son your husband might join in or at least be okay with it. It will take time so just enjoy life with your children and let him do whatever he wants.

The awful treatment of my disfellowshipped cousin still continues
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmy cousin was disfellowshipped twenty years ago when he was 18 years old.
he admitted to the congregation elders that he was fornicating with his ''wordly'' girlfriend.
the elders were following him and hiding in their cars to see what he was up to.

My cousin's dad just sent him a baby gift with a card. He only addressed the card to my cousin's wife and granddaughter. For some stupid reason, he can't even write his son's name on the card to congratulate.
Why do they make a difference between relatives that have left the JWs and those that have never been JWs? Mine do the same, obviously because they want to punish your cousin for daring to be different. Act of love, who are they trying to kid!
They seem a very fanatical, controlling family. You and your cousin did well to leave. It's very hurtful but all I can say is you are well rid of these toxic people.

We had an email at work some years ago saying deodorant and perfume can set of some peoples' asthma so to be careful about wearing it.
I asked my manager if that meant we couldn't wear deodorant anymore because believe me it's bad enough when some of our library users, the great unwashed, don't wear it.
She said no it doesn't mean that, as if I was being difficult. Still no idea what we were meant to do about it!
