Yes Blondie, exactly. People who pollute and damage the earth care about profit and yes they don't even care about their own grandchildren and what they'll inherit. Wealth and status today, that's it, let tomorrow burn.

Climate Change - True Believer or Skeptic?
by Simon inclimate change ... who doesn't believe it?
crazy fools and science deniers ... right?.
it seems like it's become the new religion, the new orthodoxy, that must be accepted and believed as gospel and preached to all.. is it ok to be skeptical?.

Here's a thing: if we really are gonna soon destroy the planet with pollution, there'd be an international crisis. All cars would be banned, save for electric ones. Airplanes and buses would also be banned
You really think the majority of humans are logical and that politicians actually care about the future? They can actually see further than the end of their noses or the next election? What planet did you say you were from?

So we've gone from climate change is not real but....... if it is you really shouldn't live on the coast or an island in case that polar ice melts.
Wait, we need to use nuclear power. It's the best. Why? Well becasue it's better than wind or solar, they're a stupid idea.
Why bother if there's nothing wrong with coal? If global warming is rubbish?
What a waffling argument. So logical! Too deep for me!

Disfellowshipping - abusing our evolutionary development
by Anony Mous ini just saw the video from kursgezagt on loneliness and it points out the biological reasons for social interaction, it also points out the reason we experience social pain in loneliness, basically, because in the recent past (a few hundred years ago) isolation meant you were very likely to die so our bodies and brains adapted to know when the circumstances of this dangerous situation emerged.. this immediately made me think about the disfellowshipping and social isolation that jw’s practice - it’s basically abusing our own evolutionary biology against ourselves and puts you in a cycle of loneliness, depression with the only ‘cure’ going back to the acceptance of the social group and accepting their ‘quirks’..

isolation meant you were very likely to die
That's very true and one of the reasons we experience loneliness, but knowing this and I've known it for some time you can fight it. Modern humans have learned we don't have to give in to every primitive evolutionary response.
It's actually very pleasant having lots of time to read, think, go to the cinema, the theatre or walk in the countryside alone. It's also pleasant not having to think of other people's needs, just do what you want, when you want.
As you described our evolution and to some extent society also has conditioned us to fear being alone but we can beat the fear. I say these things for all those who are terrified of leaving the cult and have a terrible fear of being alone.

However, with nuclear it does.
What about nuclear waste? Where are they putting that now, it used to be in sealed barrels underground.

Universal Sovereignty
by incognito2014 ini always thought this was nonsense, just an excuse for why there’s suffering.. but just assuming there really is this very long period of human history to allow god to prove his sovereignty.
this issue that affects every being not just on the planet but in the universe .
it’s a big deal and one that is so important that billions of people have had to suffer for 6,000 years.. .

They bang on about universal sovereignty being the biggest issue in the world because the vindication of Jehovah's name is supposedly paramount.
I think this is a dead giveaway to what's going on in the mind of JWs, they desperately want vindication. Vindication in the eyes of their neighbours, colleagues, nonJW family, all the 'worldly' people they know.
It's hard standing out as a weirdo with crazy beliefs. They want their whole life to be vindicated, even if it's only a few minutes before the unbelievers get nuked by their loving creator.

I'm good thanks. Where are you thinking of travelling to, HC?
Travelling is my passion too. I'm going to Norway in four weeks and I'm thinking of going to Bavaria in the summer. I love mountains and nobody does castles like the Bavarians.

Millions of people not a few thousand. I hope your economy can cope with all those ex-fisherman living inland.
I believe eighty-five percent of Australians live on the coast becasue it's too hot anywhere else.

The earth didnt always have polar ice caps. Must it have polar ice caps for us to survive? - Simon
If you live in an island nation yes!
If you don't want to be flooded dont live near a river or the sea. - Simon
Seriously? See my previous comment!
