  Very true, I sometimes search old newspapers, some from the 1800s on microfilm in my job. All the crimes are there and also the reports of suicides which struck me. Suicide from despair is not at all new.

  Also what hits you in the eye are the adverts for quack medicines in 19th century newspapers. Some of them sound so dangerous. People who think some diseases are hopeless now, should read the desperation those remedies suggest.

  No, they don't really use that term it makes it sound ridiculous (which it is) most don't talk about it - JW rogue

  I'm PIMO and I never hear the term used at meetings or in general conversation. The subject is never brought up. - a piece of shit

  To be perfectly precise, the official doctrine is that there is "one generation composed of two overlapping groups". No one uses the exact phrase "overlapping generation" - sir82

  Nowwhat? so no one talks about it and it's rarely discussed in the literature? Odd, I doubt if I went a week without talking to a householder about the one generation from 1914 teaching in FS. It must be a huge elephant in the room thing among JWs mustn't it?

  Well I thought it was a simple question that would get a simple yes or no answer. In one way I guess it's a relief to know I'm not the only one who hasn't worked this out yet even though we've had hundreds of posts about it.

  Yes I know what the teaching is for Fink but I want to get a handle on what the JWs themselves call it. Is it a derogatory term we use or do they use it themselves? Could I say it to my JW sister or brother if, by some miracle, they ask me one day why I don't come back and actually listen to the answer?

  I'd also like to try it at a cart/ trolley, there are usually two in my town every Saturday.

  JW-org-Facts-resources is an interesting Facebook page that I've started to follow. If Nathan's link doesn't work for you which it didn't for me just search the words I've used above and it comes up easily.

  Nathan seems genuine and many of his posts are very good especially the picture memes.

  I honestly don't think he intends to be sensationalist, he just comes across as a little intense, possibly because of the way his elderly mother has been treated by the cult.

  So if I said to a relative or a JW at a cart in my town, the problem I have with your teachings now is overlapping generations would they just see it as an apostate phrase?

  Seeing as their whole body of teachings that they even preached publicly for 80 years hung on the slim thread of the paradise coming in one generation from WWI, I would like to be able to use it in some way.
