Happy Christmas Farmer Jim1. I'm glad you've enjoyed your alone time. Yeah it's so great not to have to do FS on Christmas Day. Surprisingly some people were really nice to offering us sherry and mince pies. There are some lovely people around, Not having to drag yourself to a meeting this evening, freedom is sweet isn't it?

The festive period
by Farmer Jim1 inso having spent xmas day and boxing day on my own (which has actually been really enjoyable) it has given me time to reflect on how fortunate i am to be free of the jehovah’s witness cult!
i would previously been guilted into going door knocking on xmas day and would have been half heartedly preparing for a thursday night meeting/indoctrination session which i didn’t want to be at.
heres to all the folks still stuck in the cult that secretly want to leave - i’m thinking of you as i’m sure many others on this site are, and we’re all here to help you pick up the pieces when you eventually take the plunge and leave the abusive relationship that the cult has with you.. happy festive everyone and special thanks to those that supported me when i left..

the fir tree stands silently in the corner of our living room: proud, erect, strong.
even unadorned, it is beautiful.

Bihari, I'm glad you had a good time with your family listening to beautiful choral music.
Do you think they'd let me in a KH with ripped jeans?! Hey they wouldn't let me in a KH😀

Vehicle manufacturers are ripping off UK drivers!
by The Fall Guy invast numbers of vehicles sold in britain are sub-standard quality.
so many vehicle's indicators/turn signals only function when the steering wheel is turned to exit a motorway, overtake other vehicles, or to turn right or left at junctions.
more often than not, they just don't work at all!

Who's Happy To Go Abroad and Drive on the Other Side?
by snugglebunny ini do it most years.
being in the uk, virtually every other country nearby drives on the right.
we drive on the left.

I've driven in Canada, the US and Italy. Motorways in America are half empty so quite easy.
I didn't drive through cities, my husband did that. Don't like driving automatics, sound like they're screaming to change gear.

What is the housing / accomodation living conditions of all of the Governing Body Members ? Does anybody know ?
by smiddy3 ini would be very curious to know what standard of living they have .
and what type of housing each member has and what type of accomadation do they have and even what type of areas they are living in .
unlike many of the rank & file members who live in housing estates provided for the low income earners and pensioners ?

do any of them have holiday houses that they own ? that they can retreat to when the stress gets too great for them ?
Smiddy this is the water side property that cost over £1 million, bought by London Bethel for 'translation' work in Wales. -

If You Had The Choice To Live Anywhere In The World or Any State Where Would You Be?
by minimus ini do like the usa but winters suck!
florida has some charm but it gets brutal with heat and humidity.
california is too looney.

The Italian lakes especially Como or near the Pyrenees in France, the Languedoc area. The only trouble is both areas have boiling summers and freezing winters. They're gorgeous in the spring though.
I was thinking the same Fulano, Greece and Italy can hit the forties in summer. Too cold for you Min?

Upon learning of a terminal illness would you return to being a JW to appease your family?
by NVR2L8 inthis is an hypothetical question...i am doing well.
but i was thinking about how my jw family, grandchildren and all will feel when their inactive grandfather dies with no hope of being reunited in paradise.
of course there would be immediate rejoicing if i came back to the "truth" and a surge of conditional love from the "friends".

I've had a few cancer scares which turned out to be false alarms but while waiting for test results I never thought about going back to that destructive cult. My concern was for my daughter and not wanting to leave her on her own. As for appeasing jw family, I don't appease people.
