  have been in the austin area for a little over a week in the midst of trying to start over.

  i was df'd recently after being in the truth my entire life.

  everyone has abandoned me, and i am lost out here.

  Yeah homeless shelter = bad news. As you said. Sleep with one eye open and try to get a weapon of some sort- a knife or large blunt object. I completely believe you are doing all you can at this moment, but dont give up. As balaam suggests here, there may be other options for you.

  people out here in the world who were never Jehovah's Witnesses- they don't get it. They don't care.

  the best thing you can do for yourself is drop this us and them attitude. Its true that people who were never JWs might have trouble understanding how your own wife could do this to you- but thats only because people in the world may actually be operating on average with a greater degree of human decency than your closest companions on the inside. You need to protect yourself in this situation, but also be open to any help you can.

  Hi Miles,

  I am so sorry to read your sad story. This is a terrible situation. Stay strong. You must eat. I would not recommend homeless shelters if you can help it, they can be even more dangerous than sleeping on the street, but there are places in the city to get free food, there are also temp companies where you could find work for a day or two or more. If it comes to it grocery stores usually get rid of huge amounts of blemished but not rotten produce.

  This may sound trite so please forgive me, but I believe in this situation to keep your sanity you must maintain your human dignity. Keep up the showers and grooming and find some food. You have nothing to be ashamed of. Despite the way people are treating you, you are a very worthy and brave human being. I dont really understand how or why you came to Austin from Cali. But you have made the best decision of your life and you have accepted the consequences of that action. In one way you have lost everything, and everyone dear to you, in another way, for the first time in your life you have the opportunity to be genuine and form bonds that dont depend on being someone you are not or fulfilling the arbitray expectations of a cult!

  Dont despair. I am nowhere near Austin but you have a friend!

  so my boyfriend sometimes goes out on service on weekday mornings.

  (he usually works evenings.

  ) he said that in three hours out there one day last week, not one person answered the door and the only person he saw was a door to door salesman.
