  How do apocolytpic cults start?

  i was doing some reading on jonestown recently, which led me to some reading on the branch davidians and the heaven's gate folks.. it seems to me (and this is the part i want to discuss) doomsday or apocolyptic cults all share some common characteristics:.

  - secret knowledge of am impending disaster.

  - their survival if they follow the messages from a higher source that their leader receives.

  i dont think most jehovahs witnesses realize how easy they have it when it comes to gift giving.

  Another thing:

  I am so embarassed that as an adult I am never sure how to wrap a gift. I actually have no experience in wrapping presents and it flusters me when I have something that needs to be beautifully wrapped.

  I can imagine as a kid being told that doesnt matter, but you know what- how you give the gift also matters, and taking the time and energy to make sure it is well presented it part of the giving process. I learned that from other people, no thanks to the JW family.

  It may sound obvious but I was told that those sorts of things didnt matter.

  And they do matter.

  I suspect there may be malicious spirit entities.

  But that is a minor part of my life.

  Unlike some people in my family, who feel constantly tormented and in fear of demon influence. For the JW the world, life itself is truly terrifying. Even God is not really on your side. ( I dont believe in God, BTW).

  Anyone Else See Les Miserables?

  i went to see it today - by myself (mr bee is on a golf junket).

  i was glad that that i was by myself because i cried so much at the end, i wouldn't have wanted to be with anyone who wasn't crying - and that would not have been mr bee!.

  les miserables the current film is adapted from what is considered one of the half-dozen greatest novels of the past 150 years and one of the longest novels ever written.

  I have all the songs stuck in my head at once. It is interesting how all the melodies are related, somehow. Maybe someone with more musical knowledge knows what its called- its like any melody in les mis contains the other ones.

  AMAZING> also visually beautiful- the CGI is well integrated into the film.

  I didnt get to see it until now.

  After it was over I jsut wanted to sit there and have a good cry.

  I loved Javert and Cosette.

  When my family does give me gifts, they are basically garbage.

  They either bought them at an extreme discount so that there is something off about it- or I also receive cast offs of things my mother no longer wants anymore.

  I am so sick of it. Last time I just said thank you- but I really want to just say- keep your crap. Stop giving me your garbage. the box is just sitting there pissing me off. She sent me breakable things she didnt bother to wrap properly. So they broke.

  For my wedding she gave me something she just didnt want anymore and pretended it had meaning to her.

  Its such bullshit.

  Just yelled at my mom today

  sorry to post this but for some reason after a year of not talking i got drunk this morning(yeah i know no lecture) and called my mom and blew up.

  i tolded her she was a false prophet and a horriable christian mother who never even came to her grandson's birth by my wife.

  my words came out like a river of rage from which i never knew.
