My chat with 2 Dubs yesterday about UN membership

i live close to a resonanbly busy street, 20 odd shops banks, a train station,a couple of cafes and coffee shops etc and usually see dubs doing street work close to the station and i'm now on nodding terms with an elder who is out most days of the week and have got close to recognizing most of the hard core of about a dozen of them , i was walking out of the cafe yesterday to be greeted by a couple of newbies i'd never seen before , a scruffy short dumpy man and a fairly well presented middle aged lady, i'll try and abridge the conversation as best as i can, we must have chatted for about 15 minutes and it was all in a good mannered style;.

me " have you sold many of those this morning ?".

jw guy " oh no we dont sell them we give them away for free" (like i didn't know that).

Chain smokers don't bother me. You don't look like a jw? How do jws look? I can spot a jw dressed for door to door. But, other than that, they look more or less normal, Do you look normal? If so, then how would i know by your looks that you aren't a jw? 'Course, i know what your real threat was/is.

i think we all know that shariah law is basically mohammads copy of the torah, with minor edits.

slavery, womens inequality, anti homosexuality are obviously written in the same spirit.

so believers why dont you go live in saudi arabia if yo u believe gods law is perfect or at the last useful ?.

The idea that all christians should study the bible, know their bible and argue about every jot and tiddle is relatively new. It came in w protestantism. W the catholic church, the church was the main issue. The bible was the job of the priest. I wonder if ignoring the jewish laws contained in it was part of that catholic shunting of the bible into the background.

There were from 200 to 300 laws in the ot. It does seem that jesus and the disciples w him followed them. It also seems that after jesus' passing, almost all of them became detached from application to christians.

Islamic laws are similar to ot laws. This is how i see the title applying. Both of them are claimed to be from god - nonchristian. Christian, nt laws are much fewer and much more peaceful. If they are from god directly depends on whether you view jesus as divine or not.
