What everyone else said. I was a MS for two years before fading. Unfortunately for me they just sprang it on me on the night it was announced even when I had ignored their pleas to shave off my beard so I could be appointed. It will be a weight around your neck unless you really believe it all.

Please help....in a dilemma..
by crazyhorse inplease help with this: when i was in college, there was a lot of talk about university and how all who pursue that are wasting their time and all that.
even before going to uni, there was a lot of pressurr on me concerning my decision.
during that time, two elders sat with me for appointment as ms and asked me if i have freedom of speech in the org since i'm going to uni and i said no.

How patronising, judgemental and biased we can be eh? That's ironic too. At risk of repetition:
The UK is investing £250m in two proton therapy centres one in London and one in Manchester but they're not expected to be available until 2018. child brain tumours and rare adult cancers are seen as the main issues to benefit from this therapy. I personally can't criticise this father for trying to do the best for his son And I don't think it was foolhardy at all. None of us can imagine what it is like in his place right now.

Totally cringeworthy weekend of Facebook smugness.
by quellycatface inlast night i was looking at some of my ex-friends photos of the assembly in twickenham.. the smugness is palpable.
the smiles do not reach their eyes, however.
everyone is swathed in shawls, men with jumpers under their suits and it all looks very stiff.. anyone else seen any of these photo calls?

Yes I had the pleasure of seeing my friend, ex bethalite and promiscuous homosexual, (out of the org for years but still pretends to himself and people that don't know his circumstances that he's a JW) posting 24 photos of his cheesy smiles with the cheesy smiles of people who would shun him if they knew what he was. His hypocrisy made me feel sick and my knee jerk reaction was to defriend him on facebook.

Sometimes I feel like getting away
Out of my life, away from the madness
Sometimes I feel like running away
Out of the light, into the dark...

?? Question for those that have successfully faded/are out:
by Darth Fader The Sequel inquestion: can any of you that have successfully faded out of the jw world without being df'd or da'd relate to me/us how you were able to maintain at least one or a few of your "still in" friends or family?
(and even if you were df'd or da'd and still maintained some relationships, how did that go?).
obviously, the truly demented, sick and twisted (and highly effective) policies and structure of the wtbt$ to set up a system by which anyone that chooses to no longer believe or participate must be treated as "mentally diseased" and a pariah by their own friends and family is the hands down, numero uno reason why many hundreds of thousands and possibly millions of jw's do not leave.

I started fading in 2011 and have been completely meeting-free for about 18 months. My family back home are fine when I visit. We never talk about JW stuff, it's the elephant in the room. My bestie from my cong stuck by me for a long while when I was only going to the occasional meeting. Then last year she sent me a text to say she wouldnt be coming over anymore. When I see her in the street she says hello and we have a polite chat. But really as Sporece and OnTheWayOut said - don't expect to keep your friends. Fading is worth it for keeping in touch with family but that's about all. If it wasn't for family I would have DA'd by now.
make new friends. i have some life friends who faded before me but I have also made some true non-witness friends over the years. It's only when you leave that you understand true friendship.

This photo woke me up
by krejames in.
i was already on my way to my second fade when i went to the wildlife photographer of the year 2012 exhibition, but this photo made me lose faith in the idea of a loving creator......(the gazelle has been injured by the mother cheetah so she can use it to train her cubs to hunt).

👍 What Rebel8 said. Nature is brutal. A loving designer would surely have designed the process of life and survival differently.
