I'm still on my JWN holidays but had to pop back to share this experience.
by nicolaou ini'm a postman with the royal mail and was assigned to train a new starter yesterday.
my line manager introduces me to 'dave', within seconds my jw radar was on maximum!
in his mid to late 30's, politely spoken and with that haircut - i just knew it.. the post he'd applied for was saturdays only, he said he did a lot of volunteer work.

Love your approach Nic. I hope I would have dealt with it the same way. -

Totally agree that calling the video hate speech and calling for bans is way over the top and counterproductive . The message is psychologically unhealthy for gay JW children and it's outdated. But it doesn't directly affect anyone's vital interests.
There's a balance to be made against freedom of speech and belief against the wider public interest.
That said I think the negative publicity is a good thing. It won't do much to challenge the older generations of JW but it will probably make the more open minded younger generation think...
I'm gay btw.

I didn't manage to read through all 23 pages of discussion so apologies if this has been mentioned. Has anyone considered that homosexuality is about love as much as about the sex act itself. The bible can be interpreted to condemn the homosexual sex act but what if those two mummies were in a celibate relationship together? They Would still be expected to split up in order to become JWs and worthy of the new system. That goes beyond the bible. The damage to a gay child has already been covered in detail. Hate video or not, it is highly damaging and unhealthy. -

JW Chef Refuses to Cook Black Pudding
by cofty insainsbury's has been forced to apologise after its jehovah's witness chef refused to serve a customer black pudding with his full english breakfast.alan mackay was stunned when he was told he could not enjoy the staple, made up of animal fat, blood and oatmeal, with his meal at the branch in arnold, nottingham.after receiving his incomplete dish the former police officer was told the black pudding would not be served because it was against the religious beliefs of the chef to do so....

Simon: "If someone "grassed up" the chef it's likely because they were sick of being hung out to try, sent out to effectively lie to customers or have to do the chef's job for them (for a fraction of the pay? sharing tips with them?). The fault is not with the person who blows the whistle, it's with the person who commits the foul."
I'm sorry but I'm 100% with AverageJoe on this one. I have no time for the JW religion but this really is a non issue. Talk about people trying to find any excuse to stick the boot in and making absurd suppositions/filling in the gaps to justify the "anti-JW" at all costs.
The evidence suggests a member of staff failed to follow their line manager's instructions and took an opportunity to slag them off to a customer.
In my work I regularly have to defend my directors' incompetence but I don't slag them off to the members I f the public I deal with.
Personally, if I was the manager I would sack the insubordinate member of staff who failed to follow instructions and brought the company into disrepute completely unnecessarily.

I've often thought about what I would like to say if they called. In my head I think of them as being a bit patronising and deserving of "a few home truths". But the reality if whenever I've met them in the street or on the off chance is that they're always genuinely nice, friendly and respectful to me. We just chit chat and move on. I know it might be a form of love bombing but what the heck, life's too short for bitterness. If I ever got the chance to say anything it would be in a friendly rather than confrontational way as I think that is the only hope of getting through.

WT should admit that 1914
by bobld inwas a man made date when jesus came and that a generation is not 102 plus years.. why not say something like this.when the disciples asked jesus for a sign and the end of the age.jesus gave them a composite sign and said all these things will take place.when-before the people now living(at the end of the age which no one knows)have all died..

Scotoma: But JW's hide everything about their leaders. Rutheford was a drunk and a womanizer and loved to show off his big cars.
Correction: But JW's hide everything about their leaders. Rutheford IS RUMOURED TO HAVE BEEN a drunk and a womanizer and TO love to show off his big cars.
Sorry - I do agree with you 100%, but quoting hearsay as fact is the number one counter productive feature of us "mentally diseased" apostates.

Thanks Talesin. Interesting insight into Macmichael. I just died in your arms tonight and been in love before will never be the same again for me now!
so true that there are many talented people and most don't become famous. In the town where I live we have a well known music academy and some of the buskers we get are amazing.

The Rebel: This is a song about a girl who goes into a fantazy world where she meats the actor Robert De Niro.....yet if you meet De Niro in real life he is supposed to be nervous and shey.
Yes they said that they wrote the song after watching his film Taxi Driver. After hearing the song he phoned them at the council flat they we're living in at the time and took them out ...and, exactly as you state, it was all a bit awkward.
Nice story about Gilby Clarke. I often wonder about these people that have a brush with fame in that way.
As for shows like the X factor. They're about tv more than anything. I like watching them but they have ruined creativity. Bowie for example would never have made it through the first auditions...sorry I think I've probably gone off topic but I could talk about this kind of stuff for hours! Love it! :)

I love these stories! I find the whole subject interesting (as a frustrated music producer/songwriter myself). I have never really known anyone before they were famous. I met Bananarama in Northampton about ten years ago if that counts 😂 (They were lovely btw. Sometimes it's not only about talent, it's also about presence and they certainly had it in spades) -

We're Ashya Kings parents right?
by The Rebel indo you remember the case?
jehovers witness parents did a runner without telling the medical staff caring for their seriously ill child and took him to receive proton therapy in praque as this treatment was not available in the u.k.. first most importantly the good news, the boy was declared cancer free last march.. anyway i am sure at the time this issue would have created a lot of heated debate on the forum, as it was a case that created a media frenzy, with the parents and their jehovers witness religious beliefs being heavily critizised .
however as i followed the case i couldn't help but admire the parents, as i felt they would have acted indepentedly of both the jehovers witness organisation and the u.k medical advice, having in my opinion seriously thought the matter through, and then doing they thought was the best way for treatment.. so if you remember the case my questions are:-.

Mr Negative - are you suggesting that the NHS is always correct 100% of the time? Is there any possibility that another health service in another country might have given just as valid medical opinion that did not agree with the NHS advice? Are any of us qualified to make a judgement on which medical advice the family should have followed at the time?
