Elder asking for help

this is my first time posting on here so i’m not sure where to start.

i’m trying to keep it as short as possible since i could expand much more.

i’ve been in the process of waking up in the last year and a half.

Good to have you on the forum.

I'm an ex elder ... I started waking up about 9 months ago ... It's really tough going - and as you say gets harder each day.

I'm in a similar situation to you regarding my wife... All we've spoken about so far is the new generation teaching... She agrees that it just doesn't make sense... I'm at a loss as to what to talk about next.

I also wonder how many elders feel the same ... There must be a fair number waking up as Elders are a lot closer to the nitty gritty of the org than standard pubs.

Feel free to PM me... We might be able to help each other.

Remember some of the strange / subliminal pictures in the Revelation Book? Someone (or more than one) at Bethel must have influenced those pictures.

There was a strange picture in a fairly recent WT - I'll try and dig it out and post it.

To UK members that go to meetings - did Brexit cause a spike in meeting attendance last weekend?

i went to the mid week meeting and looked at the attendance figures on the noticeboard for the three congregations that share the local kingdom hall.

i wrote down the three previous sundays attendances and this sunday (after the referendum) too.

cong c. (95 pubs) 74/82/73/90.

The Bread Illustration (Feb 16 Broadcast) - Massive Contradiction

so... bro flodin puts poison onto the first loaf of bread and says that this pictures someone "sinning against the holy spirit".

he then puts the bread into the trash can stating that jehovah completely discards anyone "sinning against the holy spirit"... meaning they cannot ever be forgiven...he says that the pharisees "sinned against the holy spirit" because they denied indisputable evidence of the operation of jehovah's holy spirit displayed by jesus... therefore jehovah would completely discard them... no way back for them.. fast forward a little... we have the bible character stephen...acts 6:8 says: now stephen, full of divine favor and power, was performing great wonders and signs among the people.so stephen was showing indisputable evidence of the operation of jehovah's holy spirit.now we come to the bible character paul (saul)... he was a pharisee.paul would have seen stephen in action... witnessing the indisputable evidence of the operation of jehovah's holy spirit first hand!yet paul not only waged war against all christians but he personally approved the killing (stoning) of stephen.according to the bread illustration paul should have been discarded by jehovah at this point for "sinning against the holy spirit"... he would have been put in the trash can... no way back at all...but what happened according to the bible?

i've seen it mentioned by a few on the forum that at some point there was a realization that had they not been born a jw, they never would've converted no matter how many times the jws tried to study with them.

this was my experience too, and i'm wondering how universal it is for those that were born-in but eventually left.

i think i started having this thought (more specifically that if i were not born a jw, i would surely have become an atheist by now) in my late teens.

im a 3rd gen born in.

I was baptised at 16, an MS at 21, an elder at 30 (no longer serving). I kind of just went along with what I was "supposed" to do... I got baptised because others my age were getting baptised - I reached out because others were etc...

I started waking up because one day I started thinking about how people in all the other religions believe that they have the "truth" and that I was no different to them.

It was only after starting to think this that my rose tinted glasses fell off and i realised how strange the organisation actually is... There is no way the GB are chosen by God!! I started to see how my local elders are completely incapable of running a congregation (where is the holy spirits help?) and that all new ones coming into the "truth" are very "needy" or not mentally stable... There are no "normal" people joining - not that I can see anyway.

I'm still trying to work out a way out over the coming years as all of my family are in ... Hopefully I'll find a way out one day.

Field Ministry over the Christmas / Holiday period

i haven't done any field ministry over the christmas / holiday period.... i know that on boxing day only 3 went out at congregation arrangement from the kh.... i heard from a family member that only 4 went out from their joint two congregation arrangement... only 4 from two congregations!!.

do you think this is because most publishers are worried about what reaction they will get from the householders... or do you think most publishers these days view the christmas period as a holiday - a time to do less workwise and jw-wise?.

thoughts?.
