In Your Opinion Do Today's Elders Recognize That The Religion Is BS?
by minimus ini always wondered that while i was in especially when i was an elder.
i recognize that some people, elders included are brain-dead.
but do you think that the average older today knows it's all nonsense?

I think many elders are really well intentioned and well meaning but they start to like the power they have. The ones that are not power hungry will wake up and leave and I believe that some elders in my hall are already fading or have serious doubts.

Three million was just an early guesstimate. The actual number is probably much higher.
1- True The Vote found 1 million cases of voter fraud in the first few days after the election.
https://truethevote.org/category/voter-fraud
2-Obama said in an interview that illegals who vote will not face reprisals.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiAvrnKOEkE
3- Project Veritas uncovered lots of voter fraud. Should make you sick. This is a free democracy or a banana republic?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCldQRaPXwo
Let me be clear that this has nothing to do with supporting the right or left or Trump or Clinton. This is about fair and honest voter system. That is the point.

The media sucks. It does not matter the country you go to now. From Korea to the USA to Russia to Mexico. I understand that the media is driven by profits but they also have a responsibility to report the facts, just the facts. If we want to know opinion then we read opinion pieces. If we want entertainment we read tabloids. But today in America especially, the mainstream media has one goal and that is to destroy the reputation of President Trump, to delegitimize him because they lost and now they are angry. It is really that simple. You want some really scary facts?
So maybe instead of saying, "oh Trump is fascist because he doesn't want to talk to CNN" maybe you should ask yourself what this consolidation of media has caused in the country and around the world.
Answer: it is all about control. Just like the JW cult. Control. Control. Control.
Some years ago, a famous movie directer who knew Nick Rothchilds, asked him what their end goal was and he said, we have enough money, it's all about power and control.

Another Burnt Out Elder
by Spoletta inyoung elder(mid-thirties) in my congregation stepped down last night.
nicest guy, with two lovely kids, a great supportive wife.. it got to be too much, as the other elders are practically useless, let him do all the hard work, while they did all the "important" stuff.
literally ran him ragged.. he's still in good standing, gave the final prayer.

In my Congregation I noticed that they are pushing for younger and younger brothers to become servants and they give them "responsibilities" to make them feel like they are part of something. It is all about psychology. But I do not think the young ones have the same zeal as the older generation because the younger ones have the internet and there is no hiding of anything from the internet.

Ex-Mormon talks about cognitive dissonence
by LevelThePlayingField inthis guy gets right to the point and talks about how mormons deny truth and their phraseology.
very similar to jw's.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlupmkdfhlu.

Well said. Both the JW and Mormons are cults. If anyone disagrees then they do not know anything about either cult. There is not much to say.

Thank you!
by longgone ini want to thank everyone for the support you give in this forum, i know i'm just one of many who feel this way.
i'm not just talking about feedback about my issues but overall i have leaned so much from what is said to help others who have/are leaving the wts.
i also want to add the ripple effect that what help one person here goes forward to everyone else in our lives!

Same here! We all need each other. I come here almost daily just because I feel a connection to everyone here and it helps me cope. Like burn victims meeting up with other burn victims and telling how they survived and what they went through! It helps me so much!

Homeless guy begs with the Watchtower
by ShirleyW inafter that crazy story about the bride and groom going out in service in their wedding attire, that reminded me of a scene yesterday in one of the subway stations, a disheveled homeless guy had one hand out begging for some money, "does anyone have some spare change to help me " he kept saying, in his other hand was a copy of the magazine.
so what must've happened was some dub passed him by and instead of giving him a quarter gave him a copy of the latest publication.
although some of the beggars use their money for alcoholic beverage anyway instead of food i'm sure that magazine will be put to good use when he feels the need to take a squat somewhere and needs some paper.

Yes but you must remember this is how the JW operates. They actually feel that it is better to give this man bible literature so he becomes a JW, shaves, get's new clothes and suddenly his life is on the right track. To be honest I do not see this as bad. I think it is better to teach this man how to live so he can benefit himself. But at the same time the JW would never help a poor man out. Their money is for the WTBTS only!
