Does it matter? Will the governments ever say that cults are not allowed?

Another Burnt Out Elder
by Spoletta inyoung elder(mid-thirties) in my congregation stepped down last night.
nicest guy, with two lovely kids, a great supportive wife.. it got to be too much, as the other elders are practically useless, let him do all the hard work, while they did all the "important" stuff.
literally ran him ragged.. he's still in good standing, gave the final prayer.

In my Congregation I noticed that they are pushing for younger and younger brothers to become servants and they give them "responsibilities" to make them feel like they are part of something. It is all about psychology. But I do not think the young ones have the same zeal as the older generation because the younger ones have the internet and there is no hiding of anything from the internet.

Ex-Mormon talks about cognitive dissonence

Well said. Both the JW and Mormons are cults. If anyone disagrees then they do not know anything about either cult. There is not much to say.

Thank you!
by longgone ini want to thank everyone for the support you give in this forum, i know i'm just one of many who feel this way.
i'm not just talking about feedback about my issues but overall i have leaned so much from what is said to help others who have/are leaving the wts.
i also want to add the ripple effect that what help one person here goes forward to everyone else in our lives!

Same here! We all need each other. I come here almost daily just because I feel a connection to everyone here and it helps me cope. Like burn victims meeting up with other burn victims and telling how they survived and what they went through! It helps me so much!

Homeless guy begs with the Watchtower
by ShirleyW inafter that crazy story about the bride and groom going out in service in their wedding attire, that reminded me of a scene yesterday in one of the subway stations, a disheveled homeless guy had one hand out begging for some money, "does anyone have some spare change to help me " he kept saying, in his other hand was a copy of the magazine.
so what must've happened was some dub passed him by and instead of giving him a quarter gave him a copy of the latest publication.
although some of the beggars use their money for alcoholic beverage anyway instead of food i'm sure that magazine will be put to good use when he feels the need to take a squat somewhere and needs some paper.

Yes but you must remember this is how the JW operates. They actually feel that it is better to give this man bible literature so he becomes a JW, shaves, get's new clothes and suddenly his life is on the right track. To be honest I do not see this as bad. I think it is better to teach this man how to live so he can benefit himself. But at the same time the JW would never help a poor man out. Their money is for the WTBTS only!

People think how fast this went to trial - the JW cult might be dangerous but they are not dumb. They know settling out of court to pay a LARGE sum of money is better than the damage done to their image of this case went on for months or years!
Another loss for the JW cult!
I would assume this case was worth $4,000,000
