  Dad Turns 70 Today

  and i can't wish him a happy birthday.

  they converted when i was an infant, so birthdays were never a thing for us.

  still, i'd love to be able to throw him a party, surround him with friends and family, and show him how much he's appreciated.

  sheffield 1980s i think.

  there was a grassy area that needed mowing to put a collapsible baptismal pool on i think.

  there was no mower so they gave a bunch of sisters a pair of scissors each and they went on their knees and snipped away.. only in jehovah's organisation!.

  Effects of GB Manipulation

  because the gb controls it's members by f.o.g does that affect former members to be easily manipulated by self serving people as they start a new life outside the borg?

  the definition of a manipulator according to the cambridge dictionary is a person who controls people to their own advantage, often unfairly or dishonestly.

  sounds familiar doesn't it?.

  What do you think about this.   This has been going on with me recently, starting even before I left and I didn't see it as that until this past week. I've given away my money so very little was left me for me month after month. Clothes, dishes, food, running errands etc. I didn't even mind, I thought I was being kind. Others have been pointing this out to me and I made excuses for the person every time. Now, I'm exhausted, I see that the situation will not change, the person won't change and I am done. I'm recognizing that the "truth", lol is that I'm the one who allowed it to happen in the first place! 😕

  I had an epiphany (a favorite word of mine) that I've been trained to accept a toxic person because that what the WTS did and still does to those in. I let it kind of situation happen again without recognizing it! I don't plan to let it occur in the future.

  So, had this kind of "experience" happened to you? What did you do to prevent it from happening again?

  My Son's wish granted from Make A Wish

  we leave friday for his disney cruise wish.

  he's also a big star wars fan, and they have a star wars day on one of the seafaring days.

  to say we are all looking forward to this is an understatement.

  Movies I'm Watching

  i have, for about 6 months now, been trying to watch every single movie that was "cool" or interesting since 1960.it started out with a desire to watch as an adult all disney movies.

  then it morphed into all bond movies (except for the non-canonicals).now it's turned into pretty much any and all movies.

  here is my list, scratched out are ones i have seen, green are recent next-in line.turns out there was a lot i had never seen before, about 70% because of the cult restrictions!

  I'm also catching up on gradually on movies and books that were disapproved by the cult leaders. Racing around trying to keep up with the "theocratic routine" didn't leave time for much of anything else anyway.

  Cart Witnessing On Their Wedding Day

  this photo is doing the rounds on jw inspirational on instagram.

  although the brothers and sisters think this is "oh so amazing" and "so cool" it's actually very sad and quite shocking.

  what, people cant even enjoy their wedding day without the cult invading their special day.

  i want to thank everyone for the support you give in this forum, i know i'm just one of many who feel this way.

  i'm not just talking about feedback about my issues but overall i have leaned so much from what is said to help others who have/are leaving the wts.

  Back again to say hi! Life update after walking away from the cult.

  i hope all is well.

  my last post over a month ago was going to be the last considering i wanted to get away from all things jw but this place is much harder to ignore than previously thought.

  life has taken some very interesting turns since late last year.

  just needing a listening ear, so in advance thanks for being here, no one other than ex-jw's could understand.

  they may try, but i think only a person who lived through it could know what's its really like.. i wish i could be supporting others here but i'm so broken myself i can't seem to do that yet.

  i hope that will come in time though.. for now, i'm trying to undo the damage done to my family by the wts.

  Saethydd, thank you for your input, I'm making small steps in making new friends, also I started volunteering at one of the elementary schools helping second graders with math. We have fun together and I'm happy to do something for them in a small way. Great suggestions, thank you.
