This is very sad, I'm sorry this is happening, and also for the loss of your Mom. I'm sure it's even more difficult since you're far away. It is typical of many JW to drop even their good friends once they aren't able to be in f.s. and meetings. My thoughts are with you and your father. 💙💚💙

Ranting
by FedUpJW inplease excuse me for long-winded ranting.
i know, as do most of us here that "love" is not something that the jdub's are known for except in their deluded, feeble minds.. i can handle their hypocrisy when it is directed at me, but when it is aimed at family who for decades have genuinely been the type of jw that the watchtower presents to the public, and when it is motivated by pure hate, then i get pissed!.
my mother was dunked in the 1940's and my father in the 1950's.

Kindness and the corporation
by punkofnice ini refer to the thread started by nikl quoting the daily text.
in which the comment said:.
kindness can help you to deal with a conflict of loyalties.. can anyone here (or there), give a verifiable example of when watchtower corporation has ever shown 'kindness' when it wasn't for some selfish gain?.

July's watchtower leaves out some important info from a quote!
by stavro injerome over on discuss the truth has picked up on something interesting.. in the july watchtower on page 28 of the article entitled “winning the battle for your mind” the following statement is made “keep in mind that satan does not want you to think clearly or reason things out well.
because propaganda is likely to be most effective, says one source, if people… are discouraged from thinking critically.”.
the quote comes from a book entitled: “media and society in the twentieth century: a historical introduction by lyn gorman, david mclean" the watchtower however, chose to leave out a portion of the quote.. the full quote is "therefore, it is likely to be most effective if people do not have access to multiple sources of information and if they are discouraged from thinking critically.. the following sentence which the watchtower also decided was best not to include states,.

I agree with Outlaw. They discredit any information outside their own. As we know one very effective characteristic of mind control is the *keep them busy* tactic. Witnesses are bombarded with literature, videos, field service, maintaining the KingDoom Halls, etc. Skimming through it all is only what many have time for, and that's the ploy. The GB and Writing Department are responsible for this, they absolutely have to know exactly what they are doing. 😣

Wonder if I should send this to my well-off pioneer and elder family. They are clearly wasting their retirement funds. They will need them. It's so obvious that the WTS is stealing money from the gullible rank and file left and right. Maybe just ask her as if I was still in. Anyone should be able to see the leaders are tricksters. Well, maybe not since it's mind control that they've gotten away with this for so long. Say something to them like "What is this? I'm shocked! Didn't they recently send missionaries and CO's home for lack of funds!!??" I'm carefully going considering bringing this up. Grrr!

Dad Turns 70 Today
by neverendingjourney inand i can't wish him a happy birthday.
they converted when i was an infant, so birthdays were never a thing for us.
still, i'd love to be able to throw him a party, surround him with friends and family, and show him how much he's appreciated.

Tell him about something he said or did that made you happy or inspired you when you were a child....

After the 'Miracle' Chairs Video, What Pointless Tasks have you seen Assigned?
by Slidin Fast insheffield 1980s i think.
there was a grassy area that needed mowing to put a collapsible baptismal pool on i think.
there was no mower so they gave a bunch of sisters a pair of scissors each and they went on their knees and snipped away.. only in jehovah's organisation!.

Effects of GB Manipulation
by longgone inbecause the gb controls it's members by f.o.g does that affect former members to be easily manipulated by self serving people as they start a new life outside the borg?
the definition of a manipulator according to the cambridge dictionary is a person who controls people to their own advantage, often unfairly or dishonestly.
sounds familiar doesn't it?.

What do you think about this. Because the GB controls it's members by F.O.G does that affect former members to be easily manipulated by self serving people as they start a new life outside the bOrg? The definition of a manipulator according to the Cambridge Dictionary is a person who controls people to their own advantage, often unfairly or dishonestly. Sounds familiar doesn't it?
This has been going on with me recently, starting even before I left and I didn't see it as that until this past week. I've given away my money so very little was left me for me month after month. Clothes, dishes, food, running errands etc. I didn't even mind, I thought I was being kind. Others have been pointing this out to me and I made excuses for the person every time. Now, I'm exhausted, I see that the situation will not change, the person won't change and I am done. I'm recognizing that the "truth", lol is that I'm the one who allowed it to happen in the first place! 😕
I had an epiphany (a favorite word of mine) that I've been trained to accept a toxic person because that what the WTS did and still does to those in. I let it kind of situation happen again without recognizing it! I don't plan to let it occur in the future.
So, had this kind of "experience" happened to you? What did you do to prevent it from happening again?

Movies I'm Watching
by ILoveTTATT2 ini have, for about 6 months now, been trying to watch every single movie that was "cool" or interesting since 1960.it started out with a desire to watch as an adult all disney movies.
then it morphed into all bond movies (except for the non-canonicals).now it's turned into pretty much any and all movies.
here is my list, scratched out are ones i have seen, green are recent next-in line.turns out there was a lot i had never seen before, about 70% because of the cult restrictions!

I'm also catching up on gradually on movies and books that were disapproved by the cult leaders. Racing around trying to keep up with the "theocratic routine" didn't leave time for much of anything else anyway.
I'll find your lists helpful as I didn't really know where to start. Thanks! 😊
