  i studied the bible weekly with a wonderful jw.

  i suddenly stopped because things just seemed to be getting stranger.

  The WTS essentially a belief that Jesus died for anointed Christians or 144 who can only be understood by seven magical men called the faithful slave. Though your works and obedience to the wizards you can be saved.

  I see you have moved from the basic bible facade to the guts of what they teach. The superiority of the WTS to all other Christian denominations.

  Keep going and you get to learn about the magical wizards next.

  Rubbing one out has actually kept me from making some very bad decisions when I was younger.

  Is it ethical to have children?

  this was a news article recently in an australian newspaper that caught my eye.. the premise was that to have a child is to inflict an extra human being onto the world and also, to inflict the world (with all its problems) onto the child.. there is a lot to say about this but from jw point of view, i have always believed it to be incredibly hypocritical that jw's have children in 'this system'.

  all my life at the meeting i heard how little time we have left, how sick the world is, how i was probably going to be persecuted and end up in a jail cell for being a jw.

  why would anyone want to become parents in this situation, particularly if they are confident there is only 'a short time left'?.

  last year i was at the memorial and the speaker was saying something about how the phrase born again was actually a mistake and it should say born from above.

  jesus was actually referring to those with a heavenly hope.

  last night i was flipping the channels and there is a religious program talking about being born again.

  The part that bothers me is large tracts of the new testment are decided to the idea of spiritual rebirth or becoming the new creature in Christ.

  Yet as a JW , basically none of that applies to the average person. Essentially the entire new testament is just written for the 144.

  What a bizarre and depressing teaching.

  I don' really understand the connection between being Born Again and tthat being limited.

  Last night I was flipping the channels and there is a religious program talking about being Born Again. Jesus is talking to a man who thinks he has to re enter in the womb.

  This got me thinking about how dishonest the memorial talk was. Clearly the bible is referring to born again instead of born from above.

  Sorry I can't copy from a phone or I would reference the scripture but has anyone else picked up on this?

  the recurring theme throughout is the struggles he has had as a black man.he was born in 1935 in a one roomed log cabin in liberty indiana.

  his mother raised him in the baptist church.

  Yet if you were a Jehovah witness you would be disfellowshipped if you took a stand with those great men.

  144,000 v. Great Crowd Verses

  we know that the wt claims all sorts of distinctions between the "anointed" 144,000 and the great crowd.

  -- the "heaven" verses apply only to the 144,000; the "earth" verses apply only to the great crowd.

  -- "unless you eat of the flesh of the son of man..." applies only to the 144,000, etc.. in fact, when you show jws some passage the wt doesn't follow, they often say, "oh, that only applies to the 144,000.".
