i tend to think that many jws who joined the religion in their later years feel foolish or are embarrassed by their decision to become one of jehovah’s witnesses.

The vast majority I have met are just dumb, lonely or mentally ill and sometimes all three.

i know that i was proud to say that i was a "serious bible student" when a jw.
we boasted about how much we learned each week, and how we shared bible truths with the community.. but it's only after leaving, and really delving into a broad range of research, that i realise how little i actually knew!.
Once i realized terms like son of man and word of the lord were actually rooted in the old testament, it became pretty obvious the writers of the new testament thought of Jesus as some kind of manifestion of Yahweh of the old testament. It would be like watching Star Wars and not realizing Darth Vader was the father of Luke Skywalker.
Not saying i can put a pretty little bow around it but at least I can admit it all doesn't make sense or I can admit I don't it all.

I just watched a documentary on iPhone production in China and it's insane.
First off 50000 people work at these factories. They build entire cities around them. Any Building over one story is surrounded by nets to try and stop potential suicides. They work 72 hours a week for 450 dollars a month.
Then on top of it the average Chinese person only works there for about four months because it sucks so bad.
The idea these jobs could move back to North America is just stupid. a phone would end up costing 10000 dollars.
My point being Trump and interest rates. This is the danger in having a leader who has never worked a day in his life nor has a basic understanding of economics. If everything was made in America, no one could afford to buy it. He isn't going to re create the 60s , he is going to re create the early 80s.
so my jw mom messages me on facebook last night and says she wants me, for a month, to read the bible, but first pray using the name jehovah and in jesus name and then read it with an open mind.
she is so ridiculous!
first of all, i do pray but i usually just say father and i always pray in jesus name and i find it ironic that she is saying i should have an open mind when hers is closed.

As a Canadian I can tell you the United States has the same anti dumping tariffs protecting there agricultural sector as we do, but you only hear about our milk tariffs. He doesn't tell you US food exports to Canada have gone from 2 billion to 20 billion since 1994.
Trump tells people the US run a massive trade deficit with Canada but he doesn't tell you about the 3.5 million barrels of oil imported each day. on a straight manufactured good to manufactured good, the US has a massive trade surplus with Canada.
He doesn't tell you Canada has lost about as many jobs to the US , as the US to Mexico.
