  His advice on the Jameson? "You can't go wrong with that". This is a man who knows his way around a liquor store.

  Jameson is like the McDonald’s of Irish whiskies. If anything, it tells me he knows far more about Scotch than Irish Whiskey.

  Yes you're the only one. If you wanted to go at a time least likely to be caught by jws in a liquor store, it would be on opening hours on Sunday morning. Any other time of the week, afternoons, evenings, other days of the week, he would be more likely to get caught. Those JW's who don't have 9 or 10am Sunday meetings will either be sleeping or just home.

  That's just ridiculous. There's no evidence to support your theory. In fact, there's no evidence to support much in this thread other than the fact that Tony went and dropped some money on a bunch of booze.

  1. We don't know the source of the money. (Watchtower Corporate Card? Cash gift? Gift card to that specific store? Money from his grown children?)

  2. We don't know the circumstances of the purchase. (Alcoholic? Circle of friends pooling money for a sale? Special occasion? A yearly tradition of gifts for the memorial?)

  3. No other context for this aside from the fact that it was in New Jersey.

  Footage taken 11:00am on a Sunday morning - Wow That is no accident. He figured all the JW's would be at a meeting and he could get away with it. I hope the active JW's think about what their leadership are doing while they are suffering through boring meetings on Sunday mornings.

  Am I the only one that sees the flaw in this assertion? Not all JWs have meetings in the morning on Sunday...some don't even have meeting until 4:00. Some don't even have a meeting on Sunday, they go on Saturday.

  How is it logical to say that his timing was "no accident" because he intended on avoiding seeing JWs? Do you really think a Governing Body member wouldn't know that not everyone has morning meeting on Sunday?

  i'm one of earliest adopters of the internet in discovering the real history of the watchtower.

  back then it was the wild wild west with newsgroups being the primary sources of information.

  then came watchtower observer, freeminds, and all the other sites that followed jwd was one of the later sites.

  Hey Victor...

  I'm an old (nearly 40 now) youngster from Laredo and knew you growing up.

  My dad used to have a morning radio show on the local AM station.

  You'll be glad to know I escaped from the cult with my wife and kids. My parents don't really talk to us anymore unless they want to see how the kids are doing.

  But thanks for being there 4 years ago (this month!) when I was going through my crisis of conscience. I read the books you suggested, got a therapist, and it helped a lot. In the end, I escaped, my wife woke up, and my kids aren't being raised in a cult!

  alright, so what is the deal with the thousands coming to the states right at election time seeking asylum?

  i'm not up on this, usually try not to be, but how can this not be manipulative?

  it's either manipulative in the size of the group and pressure that creates, or in where it started or who started this, etc.

  What are y'all talking about? It hasn't vanished from the news. I see reports on it every day or two. Just this past weekend, there was a demonstration by MEXICAN protestors in Tijuana chanting, "This is an inviasion...get out Hondurans."

  you've made the US seem like the evil empire because you've neglected to mention 9-11 and the 3,000 innocent deaths it caused.
  America didn't bomb Afghanistan and Iraq just out of thin air, for the hell of it.
  And I'm not sure what America's action against certain ME regimes has to do with illegal immigrants and other criminals coming to America from the South and Central Americas.
  There seems to be a certain amount of conflation going on ...

  Oh, it's not conflation. It's an outright deflection.

  Things to consider:

  - Law of Supply & Demand: the unchecked influx of cheap unregulated labor will cause wages to decrease.

  - The premise that they're seeking asylum: they are supposedly fleeing central america and seeking asylum. They have been offered asylum by Mexico, yet have refused it. Why?

  Wacky Baccy Eh! Cannabis Now Legal in Canada

  so canada has legalized pot / marijuana / cannabis and you can go to stores today and buy some.

  the local news is covering it here in calgary with crowds of thousands expected at one of only 2 stores licensed in the city but last i saw, there were only 7 people in the line so who knows how popular it will be.

  i imagine all the people who really wanted to get it could already get it easily so this is more about expanding the market to new users who will be less inclined to queue for hours on day 1.. apparently you'll also be able to purchase online with discreet delivery by canada post.

  Should the gangs during US prohibition of Alcohol been pardoned after prohibition was lifted?

  Of course not. You're participating in criminal activity.

  If you parked somewhere and it was a no parking zone, and then later it was changed to a legal parking spot, should you get a refund on your ticket? Of course not.

  You broke the law as it stood.

  If you illegally claimed a deduction on taxes one year and got thrown in jail, and then the next year it was a legal deduction, should you be released form jail? Of course not. You still committed tax evasion.

  If Alcohol and Tobacco are legal, it makes no sense to ban marijuana. All the reasons for banning marijuana can easily be applied to Tobacco or Alcohol.

  I had one friendship affected in these politically divisive times. But I don’t think it was because of politics. I think it was because of thin skin.

  I shared a hilarious meme that was at the expense of Hillary, and he got so offended that I just stopped sharing anything with him or being myself out of fear of offending him.

  Eventually, I realized he wasn’t much of a friend to react so negatively to a harmless meme that I just left the ball in his court to communicate. He never did, and we haven’t spoken in about 2 years now.
