The specific consequences are irrelevant as the JWs knew they were breaking the law.
Imagine this: "Yeah, it sucks those apostates had to be flogged, but they should've known blasphemy was against the law to begin with." - Saudi Arabia
on april 15, 2019, total of 18 jehovah's witnesses in china were arrested and charged with indictable offences relating to, "using an evil religion organization" to "incite the obstruction of law enforcement," and one charge relating to, "obstructing law enforcement by organizing and using an evil religious organization.".
since the arrests, the governing body of jehovah's witnesses have remained silent on the plight of these 18 jehovah's witnesses in china.. link to translation of indictment:.

i have a few and built two 80% lowers.
just got a larue two stage trigger.
i can get 2moa out of it at 100 yards with a nikon 223 scope.
I shot a 3 point buck at 25 feet and hit it all 5 times. It ran off and the only way I found it was by hearing the Coyotes at night fighting over the caucus.
Wow. This is why ethical hunters don't use a .223 on deer.
Stop using your AR for deer, bro. That's not cool.
some people say that’s the least we should do while others say no way!
.
what do you think about dispensing reparations?
Simon:
I tend to agree with you on some of what you're saying, but the US broke treaty after treaty with the Native Americans.
And also, the "bought and paid for" comment regarding their land is technically correct, but in reality morally bankrupt. They were definitely taken advantage of. "Here's some beads and shit, give us your land." Yeah, they made the transaction, but it wasn't exactly an equitable exchange of value, even though the Native Americans didn't think so.
You are correct, though, that the "noble savage" meme was extremely racist and patronizing.
Regarding culture, we tend to forget that the stereotypical native American popularized by US media wasn't the only type of Native American. The Maya, Aztecs and Inca all had relatively advanced cultures. They viewed violence and human life differently than western culture, true, but they were advancing in other ways also.
Anthropologists agree that the lack of domesticated beasts of burden in the Americas (equines) likely contributed to their slow growth on the tech tree, to borrow a gaming phrase.
There is speculation that if Columbus had been just 150-200 years late, the Native populations of Mexico and Central America may have rivaled the European forces in strength.
All of that is conjecture in hindsight, of course.
Anyhow, in the US, Native Americans get lots of government benefits, so I don't think they are due any reparations...they're already receiving them in a way...but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a good thing.
interesting interview.
https://www.npr.org/programs/fresh-air/.
Y’all complaining about her using the term “missionary” with a general public audience are just ridiculous complainers.
its obviously a dumbing down of cult language to make the concept clear to the general public who are not familiar with the specific vocabulary Jehovah’s Witnesses use.
Imagine having to explain at every single interview what a pioneer is and every time saying, “It’s like what you think of as a missionary.” It’s just easier to say “missionary” to someone of the general population.
When I tell people I served at Bethel, I don’t say “I was a Bethelite.” I say, “I did volunteer work at the organization’s headquarters in New York.”
And re: salvation, JWs talk out of both sides of their mouths on it...can you blame members for being confused?
we had a nice long talk and i brought up some things that make me think that this isn't the "truth" and she somewhat agreed with me.
i stuck with things i personally experienced or had knowledge of plus all the changes in recent years.
she agreed on a lot of the points but still believes in god and the bible.
Perhaps suggest doing research together as a "family study."
Research things like the destruction of Jerusalem, the authenticity of the biblical flood, etc. Don't just use Watchtower's publications, but use archeological and academic sources too.
Pick some topics where you know the society cherry picked quotes and facts, and look up the original sources to read the stuff in context.
When I told my wife about my doubts, I went too hard in trying to tell her TTATT stuff. In the end, what woke her up was her doing her own research and me sharing the PBS News story on the Candice Conti sex abuse scandal. It's very powerful for a JW to see the leaders of their organization lie under oath or try to justify not reporting child sexual abuse under oath.
if it does not have hips it dies if i see it.

I have no problem with people killing venomous snakes on their own property.
Property owners have a right to protect their loved ones or friends that may be wandering the property.
I've killed a few rattlers on family land in Texas. I didn't take glee in it though. It was just a thing that had to be done because my 4 & 5 year old loved playing outside.
Taking pleasure in killing, though, makes you a pretty low IQ individual in my opinion.

Good to know. There's an awful lot of information on JW policies that affect every community. One on one doesn't get it done the way a newspaper article can.
It's gonna be a TV News story...I'm interested to see how they're going to frame it. Might be interviewed tomorrow. She's trying to work out logistics. They have a sister station here in my town. I'm also only about 1 and 1/2 hour away from Orlando...

Hi Nikki...
Facebook has some great exjw groups for support and some of them organize meetups.
South Carolina is a pretty cool state! We visited Charleston last year and had a great time (even though it was hot as a $20 pistol.) Callie's Biscuits was AMAZING. Definitely on my "last meal" list.
