Which songs give you goosebumps?
by LoveUniHateExams ini don't know if this topic has been covered before - it might 've been.. i also recommend flipper's excellent music thread ('what songs have you been listening to?
', or similar).. but, i'd just like to start a thread about certain songs giving me goosebumps.
y'know, when you hear a song that profoundly effects you in some difficult-to-describe way and the hairs on your arm stand on end even though the room temperature's comfortably warm.. so, which songs give you goosebumps?.

JW Statistical Charts - 2011-2019
by Jehalapeno injust made a few charts using data from 2011-2019. interesting stuff.
definitely not the charts you would associate with an organization experiencing healthy growth.
the most interesting trend, in my opinion, is congregations.. .

Nevertheless it's interesting to see how for example, the number of baptisms are going up, though I doubt it's in the West, since on any given assembly, there is only a handful of suckers.
Honestly, the baptism figures are all over the place. I wouldn't say it's trending up. It just shows that the baptism figure is flatlining.
Look at these numbers:

Peak Publisher Inc/Dec by year - This charts the difference of the year's publishers compared to last years. So if there were 7,900,000 publishers in Year 1 and 8,100,000 publishers in Year 2, the number charted would be 200,000.
Same for the other charts, just using the reported Average Publisher, Baptism & Congregation data.
Charting this info is useful for showing growth trends over time.

You broke it - you own it.
Imagine if the US had followed that advice when Europe was in turmoil in the 20th century.

Does no one realize that we invaded Afganistan after 9/11 and not Iraq?
The connection between Iraq and 9/11 was tenuous, and I'm being extremely generous there.
The biggest lesson Iraq taught me is that we should be extremely skeptical of the Intelligence Community. That's why I don't believe a word they say about Russia Russia Russia.

I find myself in the unusual position of agreeing with Fink on a geopolitical issue.
I'm not handwringing over this. If it escalates to war, that will be the Iranian's decision at this point.
What Trump did is reassert the deterrence factor. That deterrence factor became impotent when we started kissing Iran's ass and sending them pallets of cash in order for them to pinky swear they won't build a nuke. Pallets of cash that then went on to fund terror actions against western targets.
It was very naive to make a deal with a country that promotes a theocrat ideology.

I met and interacted with both Don and Joel. Joel definitely was the sourpuss.
Don was super nice, though.
While I was at Patterson Bethel, I had a nervous breakdown and had to be in the infirmary for a week because I wasn't sleeping or eating and was having suicidal thoughts.
Don would eat breakfast with me every morning in the infirmary dining room. His wife had had a stroke and was up there until she passed away, so he ate breakfast, lunch and dinner up there with her.
He was probably the most pleasant Bethel heavy I met while I was up there.
I thought he had passed away YEARS ago. Maybe I'm mistaken. Maybe I'm remembering Karl instead of Don. It's been 20 years since I was at Bethel.

Maybe her catchphrase is ringing true on here
You've stolen my childhood, how dare you!I think that's why she rubs some of us the wrong way. We're like, "Oh sure, Jan. We stole your childhood? Call me when you were raised a JW."
