I used to study with JW up until I had an encounter with Jesus and The Holy Spirit lead me to an accurate knowledge of God. One of the last studies I had I was reading what does the Bible teach book. I stopped when it said "Do origins matter? There answer was... "Yes". At that point I brought up the origins of the religion and they did not like the fact that I told them origins only matter when it doesn't pertain to JWs. I told them if they wanted to continue the Bible studies they would need to leave the literature in the car and only bring in the word of God and let iron sharpen iron because they keep putting new wine into old wineskins when using the watchtower magazines. the Bible is provided by God and is beneficial for teaching, reproving (rebuking), for setting things straight (correcting), for discipling in righteousness so that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

J.W's and " but that is Pagan !".
by Phizzy inthere have been a number of threads touching on this before, leolaia for one, back in the day when we had many an erudite poster, showed the pagan origins of many things, including the passover , and by extension, the jw " memorial".. what prompted my thought on this was a conversation i had the other day with a young lady, never a jw, who said the jw stance on birthday celebrations, was groundless and cruel.. i thought later that jw's do a " pick and mix " as usual, as they do with so many other things, on what they condemn as "pagan" and what they accept and practice.. the institution of marriage itself is pagan, marriages were performed long before the bible was written, and long before the nation of israel was formed.
yet jw's perform marriages, use the veil, and the ring, all pagan.
the names of the days of the week, the months of the year, all pagan.. i guess you guys can think of many more things ?

I know a lot of people may feel some type of way about this situation and Trumps motives behind him saying churches are essential. The fact of the matter when Keeping the Word of God in mind is that for that one person none of y'all would dare to invite to your homes for edification that the congregating of spiritual groups provides, the church buildings are completely essential. Remember that in scripture he says he leaves the 99 to find the 1. So, for those who don't agree, stay home. Keep in mind that He loves us all and if He needs to use someone in office to declare that church building are essential, it is because of the reasons you do not see and trust that what the enemy meant for evil God is and will and can and does turn it for good if it is in line with His will. So, maybe as followers of Christ and believers of the word, you should be more worried about the word directing all of your steps and have more faith.
the Bible explains that Paul got bit by the snake but he did not die. So, always remember that He doesn't say He is going to protect you from the bite but He does protect you from the venom. So, don't let fear direct your steps. Let the Holy Spirit do that. God is good all the time. So, lets not be so ignorant as to say that people who are walking in faith are crazy. For they thought the same thing about the people on the day of Pentecost yet they were on a spiritual level that some of us can only dream of because our doubt and lack of faith keeps us from reaching what God has for us. We are our own worst enemies at time.

The reason I shared my testimony is because I believe that everyone should have faith. But obviously LOVE thy neighbor. So, if you love you will not put people at risk. If you don't feel well, stay home. keep your distance and still wear a mask when in places with more people than normal as a Curtis for others. God DOES PROTECT his people. Psalm 91 makes that clear. Pray constantly and have that personal relationship so that you can be in tune with the spirit and hear when God is speaking to you. You can be cautious and Faithful. If you want to attend the church building to worship do so but do it smart cause I have seen patients with no symptoms whatsoever and they were positive. I am grateful I never got it. Doesn't mean I never will cause this is my new norm but I believe the Word and I have faith. God got me.
God bless you all!

I will tell you my testimony.
I work in a hospital. I go into suspected and positive cover-19 rooms all the time. At one point I was very ill. Could hardly breathe. I had all symptoms on Covid-19 except the fever. I still continued to work because they refused to test me and/or quarantine me. At one point I was told to take off my mask because they didn't want to panic the patients and visitors. That was right when my lungs felt the worse. I realized that the enemy was trying hard to put me into a vulnerable position. That is when I took my mask off, said out loud "my LORD is my refuge" from Psalm 91, and I notified my manager. She then sent me home early. I went home, prayed, studied the word, asked God to help me cause I'm the only income for my family, and bam! No lie, within the time from then til my next shift next day, my lungs were opening up. I went to work the next day spreading the gospel and reading Psalm 91 to many of the RNs and everyone I could to encourage them and they received the Word! They felt better and told me how much they appreciate me and my faith in God. With everyone I spoke to about God I felt better and better. I got my antibody test done and Bam! ALL CLEAR! Never had it! Lungs are clearer then ever and I have been working in all kinds of conditions with these patients who are positive. My family is covered and all is well.
My faith is in the promises God gave and the words that Jesus spoke! I am a Jesus follower. I work with MANY JWs, and would NEVER know it, cause unless they are dressed up and have a WT in their hands, they don't EVER speak about Jehovah. Mind you we work in a hospital that allows you to pray for people and I even hand out bibles to patients at times. I pray for patients and their families and I share my testimony and scripture all the time. They all know me as the Lab girl that believes in the LORD and has faith and love for everyone. I am so honored and humbled by my ability to be known as such. I take no credit for anything I do. I give all glory to God and thank Jesus for leading me there. People say "your good". I say "no, God is good. I take no credit". The patients always smile and thank me for my services.
I am til this day the only Phlebotomist in the Hospital that patients are happy to see. I have been able to draw blood from the most violent patients to the most ill patients with "no veins" so they say. I pray before I go into the rooms and I ask Jesus to help when I don't think I can do it and He helps me every time. God is possible of ANYTHING and He knows EVERYTHING. Don't limit Him. Don't deny Him the great glory that He is and worship Him always. He has made Himself known in my life. I will not deny Him or His love and PROTECTION over me and my household. As long as I continue to do his will.

The new JW Bible
by silas hobbs ini was recently informed that the new jw bible was reviewed by some academic type person who rated it as one of the best translations available.. has anyone heard of this person and if so what is his reasoning for giving it such a compliment?.

By your answer, I'm not quite sure what you are expecting as a response. I will say that I believe and even if you don't then I will pray for you and hope that in the time of judgement that God show you exactly what He means. Even now while still in the flesh I hope He reveals it to you. Salvation is the saving from evil. To live in the true form purposed for us by Him who created us. It is a happiness and level that you can only experience and not be put into words. Everyone longs to give a good gift to one they love. If we who are evil know how to give good gifts, how much more great is the gift given to us from our creator who is perfect.

I was raised reading the NWT from JWs from age 4, and It wasn't until I picked up another bible at age 35 that I found the Truth and now live the happiest life I ever have. I learned about the Holy Spirit and the 9 gifts in which we can get according to God's Will and I have a new personal relationship with Jesus.
The NWT is a really good translation until you get to the point where Jesus should be described as He is and then it down plays his position and thus hinders the readers relationship with the only person that can save them. That is my conclusion after comparing NWT against itself from the different years. Starting with the green bible from the 60s on. then I compared KJV (which JW printed before coming up with their own).
Anyway, it's a good translation but remember that the devil knows scripture better than us and although very subtle the changes that are made in the NWT can damage your chances of salvation if not careful.

Happy anniversary Watchtower!
by Half banana inif it still exists (!
) the watchtower magazine is one hundred and forty years old today.
what a splendid record of thorough-going ignorance, persuasion, irrational belief, enslavement to religious rules, misinterpretation of the bible, false alarms, historical revisionism, misleading instructions and plain deceit.. 140 years of wasting the lives of millions of people suppressing their natural ambitions to live fulfilling lives, discouraging them from having children for the sake of nearness to the fairy tale armageddon, keeping jw children uneducated and dependent on the state to end up in old age on welfare and in poverty-- the list goes on.. what a record of destroying billions of trees to print this useless cult propaganda, getting a record distribution figure for numbers in the publishing world and for what?

If you saw a governing body member being pummeled would you help them?
by Tenacious inbefore you answer; .
think about how they could care less how many families are broken up just to retain their power.
how they could care less if members are driven to suicide because of the deep programming and severe depression or strained family situations.. how they would rather let members die in order to retain their power and refuse to acknowledge their faulty bible reasoning regarding blood.. i could go on and on and on.

Whether or not one has shunned us or is our enemy, Jesus states that we are to love our enemies and that we are to do for the least of them. If in fact you have Jesus in your heart or you are just a good person all the way around, then you should always help someone in need. If you should lay down your life for someone else, Jesus is sure to make sure you are good when you pass.
If you have decided to not believe because a religion has mislead you, then I suggest you take a long look in the mirror and ask yourself when will you stop following man and start listening to the Word? At the end of the day everyone has to make a choice and everyone will have to live with the effects of that choice. What do you choose? To be like the ones who hurt you or to be on the side that would feel the hurt? Cause if in fact what you experienced from false prophets damaged you, then you have God in your heart, and you should draw near to Him. If you didn't have God in your heart, none of the nonsense that satan uses the organization to mislead would give you any type of feelings at all. Don't let the enemy confuse you.
You have already chose if in fact you walked away from the organization. Now all you have to do is commit to the only one who matters. His commands are not burdensome. He will lighten the load. Trust that.
The only Judge is Jesus Christ. Worry about what He thinks. Not man.

For any that still believe in God and Jesus, what is your reasoning on this matter?
by BourneIdentity inin the old testament, god was always full of anger and jealousy resulting in the murder of millions of people.
we’re told jesus perfectly reflects his fathers qualities.
why in the new testament does jesus show no hint of anger and jealousy and wanting to kill people?

Cofty,
Are you asking to know or asking to just mock? Wishful thinking is leaving chance and not having a source for which it will come about. Faith in God is Saying what you want, Knowing what you need and knowing that God can and will provide it for you in the perfect time. Not our time. Kind of like the law of attraction which is correct up until it tries to convince you that you are your own God. Which I refuse to even say cause I can't make a human being with my own hands or the earth or the moon or the stars. so, I am obviously not God and will never be.
Like "Doubting Thomas" in the Bible he was one that needed evidence and Jesus gave it to him. All the events in the Bible have been historically proven and current events around the world are in the works before our eyes and are listed also in the Bible. Now if you decide to ignore the proof then that's on you, the same way it was on the people during the days of Noah, Moses, and sodom and Gomorrah.
God sent the Holy Spirit during pentecost to sit upon the ones praying and waiting for Jesus promise and the Holy Spirit was able to speak in tongues that were not their own native language but of the ones who witnessed this happening and they understood and heard the word and were amazed. That day 3000 people believed and of course their were those that needed more proof cause not everyone followed. But not everyone will because the blind will see and the ones who see will become blind.
Salvation is individual. Thank God we don't have the responsibility of having to judge the world. If you want to know more. Study it. Meditate on it and pray to Him. Ask Him to reveal Himself.
I know and accept that the Bible is God's word and it will and does speak for itself. I seriously recommend that you seek Him and His word. I can only explain my beliefs but you need to experience it for yourself. If you choose not to then your questions are in vain, for they are not very edifying for those on here that are really searching for directions to the Father and long for a relationship with Him.
I still love everyone on this page who participates, despite our differences in belief. But keep in mind that there are people on both ends reading this and we need to tread lightly so that we are not guilty of causing someone to stumble.
God Bless
