It is an interesting question why they stay in. I'd say for a few it is because they are truly convinced and it is working really well for them. For most others they are convinced, but it is only partly working or not working at all (a yo-yo JW); I fell in that category and I think many other teenagers do. A few I suspect could pretty much put it away from day to day on an intellectual level, but they need the structure (and formalized social life) to function. I don't have a good theory; I wonder if anyone has written about this subject?

by Jacobi inmy name is jacobi, i am a born-in but mentally out for more or less a decade at this point (although it was cradual) and about 40yo.
i don't want to say a lot about my family, but it is a mix of going-through-the-motions, semi-actives (but mentally in), some who have left for a few reasons and one really depressed pioneer.
because people fade in and out i have managed to slide under the radar and i keep up apperances of not being all-out apostate but i completed my fade about years ago (it also helped i moved to another part of the country).. i might rub some of you the wrong way because of my views on different things like politics.. i am not a trump supporter at all and neither are most people in my country.

When did JWs begin.
by Lost in the fog in" the contestant was useless as he said the 1700s.
the correct answer the quiz master gave was the 20th century.
and then he added, "they only began in the 1930s believe it or not.

i think people went irrational over investing, a correction is needed..

Well, up it goes again, dammit I didn't invest...
If only I had invested in bitcoin when it was 7 dollars. Fortunately, I will probably get the chance to do so in a year or two. Then I will make a killing!

In these days, with north korea, global warming and the fear a robot might take our jobs, I think Canada should be thankful one of their greatest problems is the way their prime minister sits! In fact, to avoid further national embarassment, I would suggest one of the debate rounds for the next election should be a "sitting round" where the candidates demonstrate they can sit in a manner deemed sufficiently manly (or womanly) for the electorate!

Falcon Heavy
by Coded Logic inthe falcon heavy is set to launch today.
if successful, it will become the most powerful rocket in use (twice as powerful as the delta heavy).. as it's the very first attempt, elon musk has said he thinks there's a 50/50 chance of it not blowing up.
so should be interesting.

I certainly saw it and I must admit it was a profoundly impressive sight -- I was almost cheering loudly as it passed up towards orbit and seeing those two boosters land in perfect sync was really one of the most impressive things I am ever going to see on video.I even thought the car and bowie theme was awesome and I kind of thought it was silly initially ;-).
I don't get the distractors on this thread. Regardless of government help, this was one of the truly great feats of engineering in all of history, and it was done right in the middle of the US. Is natural pride these days reserved for when the fat man manage to remember most of the names of his cabinet members?

Whenever the stock market fall I think about buying some, but then I worry it might fall even more and don't, and then I kick myself a year down the road when it is up 20% (as always seem to be the case).
But what do I know, I thought about buying bitcoin (or at least mine them) at some point, but then when I saw the price (7 whole dollars as I recall! Insane!) I thought they were insanely overprizedand didn't haha

Hi all. My name is Jacobi, I am a born-in but mentally out for more or less a decade at this point (although it was cradual) and about 40YO. I don't want to say a lot about my family, but it is a mix of going-through-the-motions, semi-actives (but mentally in), some who have left for a few reasons and one really depressed pioneer. Because people fade in and out I have managed to slide under the radar and I keep up apperances of not being all-out apostate but I completed my fade about years ago (it also helped I moved to another part of the country).
I might rub some of you the wrong way because of my views on different things like politics.. I am not a Trump supporter at all and neither are most people in my country. In fact, I am pretty left-leaning :-D. I also take a live-and-let-live view on the org; I think it is mostly bad, but some seem to need the stability it offers. I hope I am still welcome here ;-).
