Is God pulling out who he wants in paradise/heaven from all places of worship

2 cents tor here...i was just thinking...most of the folks who don't go to church yet they worship god, also not fanatical, is god showing what a sham religion is.

we see many today do care about each other but not really into religion.

most of the folks i meet are much nicer than people in places of worship.

We see many today do care about each other but not really into religion. Most of the folks I meet are much nicer than people in places of worship. I find people like that have a mean spirit, and that's their default button. (Places of worship is Rehab for the mean spirited).

I meet many nice people outside the hall too....and they ok. Which I knew that already, it's the witnesses that live in glass bubble. Scared to come outside their comfort zone....

Have any of you out after being a witness that most people are ok? I won't talk about while you were a witness...I think you thought that folks were ok, but again, in your comfort zone.

in his book "the righteous mind" jonathan haidt proposes that religion served - and continues to serve an important role in bringing about cohesion within non-kin groups.. to put it very briefly haidt advocates a form of group selection but only insofar as it applies to humans.

our unique brains have made it possible for us to cooperate in groups in ways that are impossible for all non-human species.

despite their intelligence you will never see two chimps helping each other to carry the same log or one chimp pulling down a branch while the other removes the fruit.. his description is that humans are 90% chimp and 10% bee.

Always great comments to make one think....Religion=Control. Spirituality= Moves your heart to care and to do something about it...Religion was supposed to teach spirituality, instead it taught mankind how to dominate one another rather than take care of one another...

If you read the bible with Love on your mind, you won't see the do's and don'ts.

Whether there is a God or not...at the end of the day, are we our brother keepers...does it really matter if we come from apes, or that the earth was created a million trillion years ago, is there life on other planets, the big bang, Jesus was just a man, never existed, God was evil, killed all them children, my two best stories...the prodigal son and the good Samaritan....should we drink the wine and bread, are we anointed ? Was this scripture meant for the sheep or the anointed....

Here is goes....when someone is in need...do you have to go through all these mental hoops to help them? We are all in this together...there are some good things and some bad things, but no matter what, we are in this together....if there are other planets and other beings and want to invade Earth, will they care if you are a witness or a catholic or black or white...if they want to invade, they are killing earthlings...that's us...

Some folks need religion to tell them what to do and how to live...otherwise they would follow Homey The Clown. Some don't need religion to tell them how to treat folks, they know, but they like to go to church, hall, & synagogue to fellowship, to be around like thinking folks...they like to belong...

Before I became a witness I went to other churches...some crazy and some ok, most are motivational speakers, they talk to the broken hearted. But one thing is for sure, they may be nosy like all worship goers, but they dare not tell the pastor. Why? because they don't want to draw any attention to themselves. If you go to the pastor and say you saw so & so doing this or that, they will say, well thanks very much. But they will say to depending if you are one of those busy bodies...if you are telling on someone, what are you clearing your conscience about?

Here's a thought...just think how bad some folks would really be if they weren't in church or the hall ? If they are this messed up and they worship...as they say in the bible...Woe to the earth...

I'm glad you know they are fake friends...you go to a place of higher education...make some friends....the people outside the org. don't bite...don't be afraid of not being a witness...if you believe in God, then you can find some where else to go to worship...Religion is man made....spirituality is another thing all together....churches, or any place of worship don't make that a priority..... just a bunch of do's and don'ts...other places of worship....you are accountable for your self...if you want to have sex, drink, or whatever, that's between you and you...folks don't tattle tale on you....even if you go to another place of worship, you will find they ain't telling the truth either....

They try to stick to the bible...most religions try....but they always interpret it towards their doctrine...

You live with your parents...play the game...(if you want...free will, you know)....

Try not to worry or be affected by the shunning...the friends would speak if Gustopos weren't looking....they like to obey....most likely most of them never obeyed their parents...so now they are making up for it...

Again, play the game...get educated, because that's the only way today to land a job.....you can get a higher education and get a good job...but don't fall into the pit of being greedy and enough is never enough....look at the many rich folks, they are unhappy....what do they have,...the have things...God is not the God of the WT...and Jesus is not The Jesus of the WT....the way they portray them....the bible itself explains who both of them are, folks need nobody to interpret the bible...we can read now...

Anyway, too long to read....I know..again, you came to the right place. Some great and intelligent people on here...take the positive...

"you are my witnesses says jehovah".. this is going to show you how poor my knowledge of the bible has been.. i thought there was a scripture that says the quoted phrase (at least in nwt).

i could swear that i heard it for years quoted in talks.. i went to find it this morning and found nothing of the sort.

am i an anomaly or do any of you remember this as well?.

That's the scripture they use to represent themselves as chosen....Just wait...when a movie comes out it's said soon to be at a theatre near you....Just give it some time...soon to be on a tee shirt....that verse will be only in part...it will say...in big bold letter...We are your witnesses...says Jehovah (God)....that will be on the front of the tee shirt and the back of course...in small print...JW.org...The entire world are writing their feelings on tee shirts....and the world does seep into the hall..

Oh, I forgot to add, after the says, Jehovah..Is.43:10-12....they will add that like they do at the KH....

See right there in Is. it says we is chosen....we are bible based...witnesses are not bible based, they force themselves into the bible..they insert themselves when and where necessary to prove they are chosen..

Machislopp, that's the key...we all sin...the more folks would admit that the better we would all be.....that's what that scripture they took out the bible was saying...we all sin...so shut up....

The bible gives us dos and don'ts....the OT was approx. 600 commandments, then down to 10 then Jesus said, if you get these two right you got the entire bible....Love God and your neighbor...if you love God you won't do things to other people that will hurt them....that includes adultery....when you really look at what God/Jesus is saying is that the test is 100 questions but if you get 2 right...he'll give you an A....

Adultery is wrong, but it's been around forever....not only can a wife be seduced but so can a male be seduced...look Adam ate the fruit....

Still think the bible was written by wealthy Jewish men.

I have always enjoyed your take on the Sunday WT...I would love to use some of your comments... I also use the biblegate web site, it helps me to understand what the NWT is talking about...sometimes, I even get a comment out of it...

David....so much to take out of this story....Adultery, that was allowed back then....was it right, I don't know...it just seemed men could have as many wives as he wanted and could take care of, if he didn't have that many wives, the wife had female servants...seems men always had a lot of eye candy....just my opinion....If David had just slept with Bathseba, maybe just maybe God would have not been too hard on him...but to kill her husband and how it was plotted that is the sin....this is my opinion....and that's why there are so many religions, because of opinions....and everyone thinks they are right...anyway...I don't think God judges adultery like humans...he knows that it's hard for humans to be monogamous....If you ever read the old NWT...there is a scripture in the NT, where a crowd brings a woman to Jesus caught in adultery, of course they want her stoned....side note...males have been committing adultery all through the bible...anybody want to stone him....when a woman has more than one man...the bible never fails to bring it out....back to the point...in the scripture, Jesus draws a line in the sand and ask anyone who has not sinned cross the line...he looked up, nobody was there...told the woman to stop what she was doing...end of story....so why was this scripture removed from the new NWT...we know why? because what that scripture is saying...no one has the right to judge anyone..as a matter of fact some of the bibles say they don't think this scripture is really valid...I say it is...it's just that it puts man in his place....this scripture is to the point...

All of the WT/AW are written to promote the org. They tell stories of long ago that were successes...every now and again, they throw in a story from the 2000.

Oh yeah, free will God did give it to us....but the org. has taken it away...

JWs Like to Take Away Hope...

i think the worst thing about jws is that they like to take away peoples realistic hopes for a happy life now and replace it with false hope for the future.

tell a jw you want to go college and get a good career and they'll tell you that college is a waste of time, that you'll end up in debt or that the economy is so bad there are no jobs.

tell a jw about how scientists have discovered a new technology that could improve millions of lives and they'll tell you that scientists and technology have "ruined the earth" and cannot be trusted.

&&& the only hope JWs have is coming back to earth with their magnificent selves...

Really a whole earth full of back bitters and gossipers and whatever else...

Hi,

Many JW's are not very well learned....that's some of what they attract....so many of them that are unlearned believe whatever the org. says. why because they learned to read and reason. So it makes them grateful and hang on every word the org. says...now, many folks who are not very educated come in various attitudes..one that comes to mind is someone who couldn't read now can cite scriptures at the drop of a hat to most folks who only know the lord's prayer...so they believe their publicity the org. sold them...they are superior, and with no college education...or the other one...one are not educated....very humble.....and so grateful...again, whatever the org. says is right, because I'm a poor illiterate soul...and Jehovah looked down on poor ole no read'n me...and they are just as dangerous as the ones who feel superior.

Every commenter hit all the nails on the head. Many are just jealous of the young ones who have their life ahead of them....and many wasted theirs...Most of the witnesses have had all the sex they are going to have in or out of the truth in or out of marriage....and now it's time for the young ones to have some fun....the ole ones are telling them...they are wasting their time...oh really...old folks had their fun. Now they are looking down the barrel of old age and death...

In the words of my dad....JW'S ARE PARTY POOPERS...

Yes, they do attract negative folks. I am positive and so the friends like me but they do not know how to take me and most of all....HOW TO FIX ME.

JW's live the good life. It does depend on where you go. But I see it first hand, they live well, yet cry broke.

Shunning - Are Mothers Most Fanatical?

on many posts by those with experience of df or da shunning, it look to me that the most fanatical observers of the shunning practise are mothers, and when a person approached parents about their own doubts or intentions, approaching the mother the most daunting prospect .

odd that visiting warwick leaflet has a picture of a meeting of some sort with a room comprising men only, given the subordinate role given to women, one might think they would be more liberal over shunning close ones, but not so.. what drives this, is it grabbing an opportunity to be more visible by their loyalty, or low level of education of a lot of dubs so that the sisters blindly accept direction or authority.

i might have expected some kick back against the shunning practise by sisters giving evidence to their independence of thought.. our real thinkers here will be able to explain this fanaticism of loyalty better.

I wanted to comment when this topic was first started....wanted to see what others thought...

I'm a female, no kids, a witness...I don't get it...there is a certain disconnect with a person who can shun their child. That parents environment may have contributed to it....

Love is something you can't turn off or on...and if you can....you a bad mudder....even Psalms says Love is as deep as death....

Parents that can shun have other issues....females, it's to please man....some females when their child does something they feel it was their fault....as some have said...single moms...sexually frustrated....

Females are emotional...not more emotional, it's how we are wired...we can get so angry that we throw ourselves into a tizzy....we gunny sack stuff...so many things that happen to us...it's not that actual situation but all others compounded....

I think the moms that are fanatical, is all for show...they say how sad it is for them.....it's for attention. I know some sisters that think it's commendable that parents shun their kid...they feel it's loyalty to Jehovah....I don't want to wish nobody nothing..but those same sisters....lets see what they say, when it's their child(s).

Again, women are emotional beings...we want to be the head of the house, then sometimes we want to be Cinderella, then a Fairy princess...we are so many things....

I don't know what it would feel like to have my mom shun me (my Mom didn't like her Dad), she a little messed up but she's ok...and did not let that keep her from loving me even when I wasn't the best child...same for my dad...middle child...you all know the story...but he was messed up but ok...I was raised by both of my parents...When I got into trouble...my dad would come rescue me...he would say, you know your mom is not reasonable...she's is the wrath of Khan....So all that to say, it's easy for me to say why worry about a parent that can shun you, if they really loved you.....blah blah blah....I can't...it wouldn't be fair...but many of us don't really know our parents and their home life....some of our parents are just damaged goods, then married another person from another home that was damaged goods....

Another question could be posed here....why when men go outside the marriage, the first thing a wife does..is use the kids as pawns....the one thing you love the most, a woman will use against the man....that's her first thought...They make sure he don't see the kids...the kids are weapons....Why ? Oh I know why...just saying....

The Danger of Settlements

i was pondering the recent influx of lawsuits against wt, specifically in regards to the child abuse cases (ie.

conti, fessler, lopez, etc).. in each of these, wt has settled for an "undisclosed" amount, assumed to be in the millions of dollars each.

i know there are many many more cases, subject for a different thread i'm sure.. i was reading something completely unrelated a while back that mentioned the dangers of settlement agreements for a large corporation or business (not just wt).

Thought just occurred to me...all witnesses know Michael Jackson....well everyone knows him....when all these cases came against him...he settled....so everyone said, he had to...he did it...because if he didn't do it he would not have paid the victims...this is what everyone thought....in and out of the org...I have a different opinion...anyway...if it ever leaks out that the org. paid these settlements...I think a light bulb will go off in the heads of the friends...now, I didn't say they would leave or think anything is wrong with that....but that'll start the ball rolling in their heads... their brains will begin to short circuit...because it will be hard for them to process this....some will put 2 and 2 together and think about fading, others will stay because of family, some don't care, they are secure in the org...

Again, if these settlements get to the friends, it ain't going to be pretty....I don't think the org. can keep this quiet for long.
