Who is Jesus?

i’m not super familiar with jw theology concerning jesus.

Jesus is the guy who died for our sins (again, if this is true)...he didn't do nothing just took the hit for us humans...

JW's believe that he was the son of God...Matt. 10:16-17:After being baptized, Jesus immediately came up from the water; and look! the heavens were opened up,+ and he saw God’s spirit descending like a dove and coming upon him.+ 17 Look! Also, a voice from the heavens+ said: “This is my Son,+ the beloved, whom I have approved.”+. So if Jesus and God are the same, whose voice was that coming from Heaven...Didn't know Jesus could throw his voice...

Jesus was about Love...I would rather believe he was real, what a great pattern he left to follow...how many of us would wash the feet of our betrayer???

Is the Bible truly inspired?

so i was reading the book of daniel, starting with chapter 4 (nebuchadnezzar's famous tree chopping/banding dream where the 7 times is introduced) but i noticed that when you don't cherry pick verses and just read straight thru - it really seems like some children's book that was poorly written.

even though the borg says that this book as written by daniel, chapter 4 is clearly written by "king nebuchad·nezzar to all the peoples, nations, and language groups dwelling in all the earth" after the tree chopping business.

) of the rest of the chapters seem to be written in 3rd person (odd, if you are writing about your experiences).

Is the Bible inspired ? Who knows...The bible only tells us how to treat one another...you can read all the books in the bible and it's about Good vs Evil....

The more you read the bible and pick it apart the more you will lose the message....who cares if Neby had x amount of wives, or if you can say the Lord's prayer backwards on one foot, as I said before...WE ARE OUR BROTHERS KEEPERS...The Gov't isn't checking for us...we have to watch out for one another...

Don't get bogged down by some of the stories regarding Jehovah's killings of innocent folks...Read about Jesus, LOVE...he gave his life for us...no other religion has redemption...you can do good all your life but no guarantee you'll go & be with 10,000 virgins...but with Jesus dying for us...we might have a chance...let me say this...IF YOU BELIEVE..

Whether it's inspired or not...Just be good to your fellow man...as yesterdays WT expressed, have compassion for another person, even if you haven't been through anything...if you see something that you can do for someone, do it...even if they can't return the favor...doing something for someone that can't do nothing for you, shows character...

Faced with the reality of mortality

how have you all coped with facing the reality of our mortality?.

most of us were raised to firmly believe we would never get old or die... so here we are now having to face the reality that are getting older... we are going to die.. sometimes it really pisses me off that we were never helped to comprehend this most basic of facts.

we were given a utopian dream as a "fact", and hence never taught how to face our inevitable futures.... thoughts?.

I once heard a minister say this...."Some people are so heavenly bound (in the case of JW/Paradise bound), they are no earthly good....meaning, they are so into the here after they don't enjoy now...& to get to heaven or paradise they will do anything to get there, even throw their love ones under the bus....

You mirror my thoughts exactly....before we were born, we knew nothing & when we die, we'll still know nothing...Death is scary because of the unknown...we are aware now so we think we will have some type of awareness when we die, so that's what scares us, because we think stuff will be going on & we can only watch...Like Island Man said, we are unconscious...I used to think the bible made death more acceptable, most think we going to heaven, witnesses think they going to paradise...others believe virgins will be waiting for'em...whatever story we choose, it's a better place...

Witnesses are afraid of death, and they think they will cross over....but they are not prepared for Armaga....(however you spell it), why? Because they are germaphobic in this system, so how will they deal with the dead...especially if they aren't witnesses...ever notice witnesses are always sanitizing or moisturizing...wear gloves for everything...amazing...

Nobody wants to die, but we don't want to stay here if we are in pain...but if we do return, just think, you will be able to say....Been There Done That....

"Death does no harm to the dead. Death only grieves the living. Don't grieve over your own death. Grieve over the death of a loved one" SO PROFOUND...

No other religion is as guilty as JW religion—you know why?

all other religions have myths that show satan as inferior to god almighty.

but only jw religion portrays satan more powerful than god through their teaching of “issue of sovereignty” which implies god almighty needs validation from satan as though he waits till satan is satisfied which has not happened even after killing of jesus 2000 years ago and things like ethnic cleansing, spilling of oceans of blood ….

Hi,

Jehovah is waiting for mankind to realize we can't rule ourselves because of our imperfections and sin...So Jehovah wants us to be sick and tired of being sick and tired....once this happens we will finally give up and say...OK, Jehovah you is the MAN & have always been THE MAN....

Think about life today....the gov't has gone rogue, White House ain't thinking about us...basically no one is minding the store and so we citizens don't have any leadership, everybody watching for their own butts...

I've met many people that are saying, can't trust the Pres./Gov't so I'll try the man above...

Could Jehovah have opened up the window of opportunity for us to look to him...

Maybe just maybe this is the time to preach...folks are more open...I'm just saying...

Jehovah don't need humans to tell folks about his sovereignty, he said it in the bible, he could've used rocks, he just wants to let you know, that he raised his son from the dead and he can raise you...Jehovah's message is this...I gave my son for you nuts...so act like you appreciate it...preach about my son Jesus, not me, I can take care of myself...

It's called Christianity...why because Christ....not Jehovah'anity...

How Would You Console A Witness Who Has Lost A Loved One?

let’s say that you haven’t been around a kingdom hall in years and everyone knows you are not a “true believer “ anymore.

yet a tragedy strikes and you want to give a real heartfelt expression of your feelings— what would you say?

would you acknowledge the resurrection hope that the witnesses entertain or say something very different?.

Hi,

Just repeat what they tell others about the love of a lost one...give them a track, OR, the famous...TAKE IT TO JEHOVAH IN PRAYER...

They know about the resurrection hope but when it happens to them....they feel just like all humans, hopeless...

Humans are all alike, they don't have compassion for anyone else until it happens to them...

Many can teach it but can't apply what they teach....

But here's the rub, God sees our hearts...yes, it's would feel good to get them back and tell them what they tell everyone else when they lose someone in death....but that ain't right, so I think the best thing to say....Take it to Jehovah in prayer....then shut up....that alone will make them remember when they said those words to someone one day &&&& it didn't help...

Why is there such a 'high turnover' within the Jehovahs Witnesses?

i happened to come across a time article in 2008. it was basically talking about the high turnover in american faiths.

it mentioned the jdubs and highlighted the following point.. an even more extreme example of what might be called "masked churn" is the relatively tiny jehovah's witnesses, with a turnover rate of about two-thirds.

that means that two-thirds of the people who told pew they were raised jehovah's witnesses no longer are — yet the group attracts roughly the same number of converts.

Celibacy....nobody standing on line to be celibate....& they only love you when you going to be a witness....

Folks find out that they love you conditionally....

Delineation of Biblical Application for Anointed vs R&F

i think it would be great for the gb to clearly define the scriptures that are intended towards the 'anointed' who are already counted, depending on who you believe, and the remainder of scriptures intended for the rest of the followers.

that way there is no confusion during biblical discussions about how little of the bible actually has to do for the great crowd.

and so new studies can clearly see, defined, how little of the bible god cared to preserve for the great crowd.. further it would be useful to know from the gb what scriptures are believed to be literal and which are solely spiritual.. just an idea.

There is no such thing, the bible applies to all....when Jesus says there are others in the flock but....that means there are others who just not ready to follow Jesus right now...John 10:16...that is what that means to me...

Why do humans always see each other in different classes...rules for one and rules for the other....there seems to always be an upper echelon in life...even when flying...first class, second class, etc...

The message of the bible is for everyone...Remember the org. see's themselves in the Bible...So they elected themselves as the anointed, ain't nobody said nothing to them....it's all man-made...

Don't believe the hype, because that's just what it is...the org. plays on folks esteem, some feel unworthy no matter what...the ones that don't have made themselves the anointed...I hope they haven't defiled themselves sexually....

Most would just faint and have the vapors....the org. is their life blood, it would be like pulling the plug and most would just plain short circuit...talk about the walking Dead...

I think many also would jump for joy, quietly in their heads...

As most of you know I haven't been a witness for too long, but I remember from the stage how many of the Brothers would give a talk and mention how the churches are installing ATM machines & how they are like the story of the money exchangers that Jesus threw out of the church. & See how greedy christiandom is...blah blah blah....now look whose calling the kettle black, remember when the org. talked about the Catholic churches with child molestation....JW land is always pointing judgmental fingers at others...but they were the ones that said if you point a finger at someone, how many fingers are pointing back at you ?

The more the ORG. accuses other religions, it's just a matter of time that the org. is guilty of the same thing.

They are begging just like other religions, it's how they package the message that the average JW accepts...they have no idea of how the org. really makes their money....flipping real estate...
