I think his family was JW's from what I heard. I didn't know he went back. He went back b'cuz he had, had his fun...sex drugs & rock & roll. That happens when folks do all they want, as they get older they begin to think about their life. They did all they wanted to do and now they can be a witness or religious...hope he won't be overly zealous...you know when folks did what they wanted to do they are more judgmental than anybody.

I just learned something, I didn't know there was a show called Lethal Weapon...I thought it was just a movie...learn something new everyday...

There is another actor Terrance Howard that was raised or exposed to the witnesses and said if he ever joined a religion it would only be the JW's. Deep down folks who were a witness and want to come back there is some type of guilt they are working off...& believe me the ones that return after being out there, they will throw folks under the bus to be DF'd..because they have so much guilt and won't confess their stuff but will so they tell other folks stuff...

You hit the nail on the head. The core of a witness is "self". That's the common denominator of JW personality. Most of them need some type of validation. The org. strokes one ego...read a scripture, repeat a comment from their literature, they beam when someone says loved your comment or your reading...help someone take off their sweater or jacket (ever notice when one needs to take off a jacket or a sweater the entire congregation tries to help and almost take your arm off). JW's only do things to be seen, they are most helpful when in public or around folks who aren't witnesses to say see, we are so helpful. If you go into a restroom & it's crowded, they get to cleaning to show how holy & pious and clean they are (most of them are germaphobics)....but bet you if no one is in the bathroom they do just like most...do their thing wash their hands & walk out.

Most of them would not survive in a church with a big congregation because they would just a member and to stand out you would have to join different committees to be important & in churches when you join a committee you have to be reliable...none of this woe is me. They would get lost in a church. No one would care if they are suffering...JW's enjoy bad health...JW's have to fake being sick because that's the only way to miss a meeting...you can't just say, I was tired and wanted to go home..no you have to make up a medical condition so when you don't come, the friends will say well, so & so isn't here but you know they suffer with.....(you can fill in the blanks). Most of them are healthier than most they are always in the street in the fresh air walking....

There is a saying...Birds of a feather flock together...that's my opinion of the org. same type of personalities...See Me syndrome...

As many have said, most folks know witnesses but all they know is we don't celebrate holidays, no blood, & just heard someone say, Only 144,000 going to heaven....I know that blew that person's head...but to be fair, why would the bible say, The meek will inherit the earth. Children will be playing with animals, don't that sound like earth to me...New Heavens & New Earth, I'm just saying...The way the JW's explain this new system sound perfect but we still will have a government...only it will be in heaven...

Well all that to say, nobody cares about JW's. Something real controversial has to happen at the top...

Just like with this HS shootings, Gov't won't care until it happens to one of their children, but hope not.

2 tim 3:1… but know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here.

These two have always reminded me of our D2D...we prey on folks who are weak and going through stuff...and then we love bomb'em...I do agree that we/GB/JW are fulfilling bible prophesy...otherwise why do we know it so well...it's always easy to recognize yourself & say it's someone else...

For the most part JW's use the org. for social outlet...they get nothing out of the meetings/assemblies or conventions...it's just to get out the house & look holy...

@Neat Blue, exactly...JW's have applied the scriptures to themselves...they even say the first DF'ing was when Jehovah thru Adam out of the Garden...(but he never shunned him)....I think you are right about the Jerusalem thing...The bible has great stories...The good against the bad...I take from the bible is how to treat folks and have patience for them...

JW's know the bible back to front but can't apply it that's why they fiend for a bible student so they appear to be doing the right thing all the while just telling their student what to do but they never do it....those who can do..do, those who can't...TEACH...

There is another generation coming up....don't think they'll swallow the kool-aide...remember, this generation put a BLACK MAN IN THE WHITE HOUSE..they are not cut from the same cloth as their parents...just like we weren't..The baby boomers, made statements...we were about sex, drugs & rock & roll, but a lot of changes and good things came from that generation...We protested, butt our heads against the establishment...etc...

Just to add...since I'm a witness, I can say, no matter how they change the doctrine it will never shake the faith of a witness...because the org. admits they have a new understanding & to a witness that is a humble move...many of the friends say, the org. is so humble they are not like other religions, FDS/GB's (whoever writes this stuff), admit when they are wrong (never use that word, it's a new understanding)...you know like when an abusive spouse says, he/she has a new understanding that he/she should not abuse.....the abused spouse will say, well at least they admitted it...I think even if they admitted to child abuse (the org.) it will all be how they phrase it...

Remember how the Catholics got a new understanding that they shouldn't burn folks...

Trump always says...Let's take back America...My question is .....WHO TOOK IT...

The White House is now White again...could that be what he means...

Trump is 70 yrs. old...he is a business man..doesn't know a thing about politics...he's used to getting his way and No is not in his vocabulary. Being president was on his bucket list...

I talk to many folks that say, how did he get in...he was voted in...it's just that now he isn't doing what folks expected he would do, so now they are angry...but he was voted in...Russian help, maybe yes maybe no...many folks said they were not going to vote for him & they did...just like when Obama ran, many said they would vote for him...NOT...when folks close that curtain to vote, you never know...

The media are all over him...it's a good thing, otherwise they wouldn't have any thing to report...

If they impeach him...who they got... NOBODY...

Is Trump doing better than I thought...no matter who gets elected...I still have to get up and go to work & pay my rent and taxes...that hasn't changed...

The Presidents are just puppets...we know who runs things...

the petition denounces the institutional policy of shunning former members as a violation of basic human rights and psychological torture, and asks the portuguese legislators and judicial authorities to take action to stop this abuse, and suspend legal recognition to the branch office entity until the policies of shunning are changed.

Your choice of religion/faith is personal & that's why the gov't should not choose your belief...again, it's a personal matter.

The more exposure the org. gets in regards to their inner workings the better. No the petition may not do anything but it's showing that JW's are concerned. I'm a witness...not a extreme witness...I go to the hall when I can...in regards to the shunning thing, some take it to another level, some don't talk to the DF'd person, even go out of their way to be rude to them. But that's who they would be even if they were not a witness.

Many may not talk at the hall, but at home most likely they do.

The only thing this petition can do is show what this religion is really about...join at your own risk. That is why they give you the inner workings like a drip...they know if you know all, most likely you won't join.

I don't think the gov't can stop the shunning but this may shed some light on the ARC thing...

This time we just might have to wait on Jehovah really clean the org. His clean not man's clean...I know I know he is taking his time...but as I mentioned in another topic. Maybe he is waiting for the org's conscience to kick in and clean up their own act...this could be why so much is being written but he's just saying...OK, OK, you see it's closing in on you...You can give yourself up or I can...he is saying to the org...You don't want me to come down there, now do you..(spoken like a parent).

Negative press, no just real press of what the real org. is like...no sugar coating...there are rules and regs. to belong to the witnesses...more rules than Jesus would ever put on us...

Jesus is about LOVE...

What a great and honest article...do these scriptures come to mind:

Mark 4:22: For there is nothing hidden that will not be exposed; nothing is carefully concealed that will not come out in the open.

Matt. 10:26:So do not fear them, for there is nothing covered over that will not become uncovered, and nothing secret that will not become known

Luke 8:17:For there is nothing hidden that will not become manifest, nor anything carefully concealed that will never become known and not come out in the open.

Now for those who believe in God & the bible these scriptures show just where the world is today...seems every scandal is being exposed...folks are giving themselves up even before they are confronted...The gov't is being shown for who they have always been. Nothing and no one is safe...

Even if the society doesn't respond it doesn't have to. The longer they stay quiet the more articles will be written..they can run but they can't hide...most likely they are using the scripture where Jesus was asked a question and he never answered...but Jesus was in the right...the society is being quiet about something that is wrong. They will wait on Jehovah, but do they think that Jehovah is waiting on the society to come clean? That would never occur to them...Pride...& doesn't pride come before the fall...Too many articles to ignore...this is Canada...right next door to US/NYC...

Many of us want the org. exposed...the way things are being exposed...just wait...it's just a matter of time....in the words of MLK...How long ? Not Long...

Home Schooling...my take on this is how will they ever stand for the truth...There are times when home schooling is good, some children have certain disabilities and cannot attend a traditional school. One of my friends has a grand child that has Leukemia and because of his condition he has to be home schooled. JW's are just phobic...they want to put a bubble around their children...I do know of a sister that was home schooled...nice and intelligent..& talk about gorgeous...a great Mom...but to me she's not the norm...Most likely she is sane...but to me she looks so sad. She is a nice person...great comments that are down to earth...

Isn't there a scripture that says, don't take them out of the world but keep watch over them..John 17:15:I do not request that you take them out of the world, but that you watch over them because of the wicked one.

But today with all this shooting in the schools, no wonder folks are afraid to send their kids to school...what's up with the schools today....what are the teachers doing to upset the kids...so many school shootings and so tragic...We are in a wacky world today...

Some religions have their own schools. A JW as a teacher to home school their child...they barely keep up with the studies we get from the hall...Most witnesses are not disciplined enough...we all know how they forget everything...will cancel a bible study in a heartbeat...

This is the scripture JW's used to support no masturbation:

Gen.38:6-10:In time Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, and her name was Taʹmar.d 7 But Er, Judah’s firstborn, was displeasing to Jehovah; so Jehovah put him to death. 8 In view of that, Judah said to Oʹnan: “Have relations with your brother’s wife and perform brother-in-law marriage with her and raise up offspring for your brother.”e 9 But Oʹnan knew that the offspring would not be considered his.f So when he did have relations with his brother’s wife, he wasted his semen on the ground so as not to give offspring to his brother.g 10 What he did was bad in the eyes of Jehovah, so he also put him to death.

Jehovah wasn't angry about masturbation, he was displeased because O'nan disobeyed Jehovah. O'nan did not put faith in Jehovah so. Pride, not humble whatever, but not because he masturbated but simply disobeyed...Just like the scripture they use for B'days...hog wash...All witnesses see in the bible is rules and regulations...if you read the bible like that, you won't do anything...

They don't want the young ones to get married too young, but we all know they get married young to have sex. Then the lust wears off & the two are stuck with each other...can't get to know your mate because of chaperone's. So it would be better for them to masturbate. But like anything, there should be a balance...as humans we tend to go overboard...with anything...

Masturbation is not sinful...having a lot of sex with a lot of partners and just playing with ones heart...that to me that's sinful..

if you had 2 minutes with an old witness friend or with a family member to convince them the 'truth' is a lie and the gb isnt being directed by god what would you say to get their attention that might make them question their beliefs?.

Hi,

I don't think there is anything that can be said....when a witness is comfortable and all is well, no matter if the doctrine does flip flop...they are in the "IN CROWD". Until someone steps on their toes or they miss a meeting or two and folks start acting funny towards them. Also,when they say to leave matters in Jehovah's hands & wait on Jehovah it's ok until it's them.

Many people don't see or hear anything until it's them....as they say, "It's the thief that screams the loudest".

Or give them a round trip ticket to Jerusalem or whatever fell in 607BC...let them look up....that is extreme but it just might work.

Lack of young people in the congregation?

been baptized for two years but being in the truth for longer.

one thing i have always noticed is the lack of young people in the congregation.

does anyone feel the same ?.

Hi,

In my hall there are some young ones, from babies to teens...if you look at them, most of them look like the life has been sucked out of them. The Teens look so sad, it's because their growth has been stunted...they just lumber around...being a teen is rough, hormones raging, then being a witness don't help...knowing that most of the congregation is older and has had they sex fun & we are telling them...hold on, the end is here...imagine just beginning your life & then finding out you may die...the pre-teens just lumber around with their bottom lip hanging..many of the kids in my congregation have one thing or the other wrong with them...

Young ones are not buying it...they are on the internet and know what is going on behind the scenes, but can't say nothing so they just lumber around the hall...trying to look like this is the best life, but they know it's not...they must hold on until they can leave the nest.

The friends are actually forcing their children to come & you can see it. We have some gay ones in the hall, but nobody talks about it...in fact they both got DF'd but are now back...

JW's young & old are suppressed..
