Surely the pivotal word is 'taking' as opposed to 'given' , 'taking' supposes mutiny eh ?

"Taking the "Lead" vs. "Leader"
by sir82 inthe wt articles for the past 2 weeks were the typical every-3-months-or-so attempt at justifying the sovereignty of the jw popes, the governing body.. aside from the usual specious reasoning and ridiculous assertions, i noted this:.
the articles went through great semantic pains to emphasize that, for the jws, jesus is "the leader", while the gb are merely "those taking the lead".. what, exactly, is the difference between a "leader" vs. "one who is taking the lead"?.
in what other sphere of human experience is such semantic pretzel logic even close to rational?.

An independent Scotland would democratically be able to decide policy on these matters the snp is not the only option at the polls. Thats the benefit of independent decision making, its in the hands of the people.

@phizzy...Scotland would work towards clearing the deficit as other countries do, as indeed the uk is trying to do. Scotland is not devoid of resources and talented people , the world has benefited immeasurably from the input, innovation, invention in the fields of medicine, engineering, communications, art , architecture by scots. Im not decrying others but on the world stage Scotland and scotshave punched well beyond its weight for a country of 5 million or so inhabitants. I also take the view that there are those who even if convinced that Scotland would prosper, would still doggedly be anti .there are factions in certain organisations who cannot see past the union jack !

Is it just possible that the Scottish first minister, whose job (by democratic election )is to do the best for the people of Scotland, would rather work towards the aim of making Scotland stand and thrive on its own two feet rather than the country be at the begging bowl. Who would not want to help a beggar who is striving to be self sufficient. Why does the Westminster government in the main want to keep this ' beggar'.

Could a petition to make shunning illegal work?
by aboveusonlysky inwe're currently watching leah remini's series about scientology and the main thing she seems to focus on is the shunning policies of the scientology organization which let's face it are very similar to jw procedure.. i was wondering with all that's in the media recently about bullying could a petition be put together to get the goverment to consider making religiously mandated shunning illegal?
has such a thing been tried before?.

The Scottish referendum on independence was not conducted without argument and statements of outcomes, i remember it well. The anti independance argument included the view that in order to maintain eu membership voters were encouraged to vote no to independence. The feeling being at the time was that the rest of the uk would remain part of eu,whereas if Scotland gained independence the country (Scotland ) would have insurmountable difficulty in gaining entrance to eu...how things quickly reversed presumption is indeed presumptuous.

There are many ways to deal with unwelcome comment from family or friends which may influence in an unwelcome way . There is no need to shun, there is always the law if the behaviour goes contrary to legalities. Shunning is despicable and should not be tolerated it leads to extended negative consequences inc' health and mental health problems.

wrong, from start to finish, yes, wrong: the wt anointed anecdote.
by waton inthe supposed start: at the last supper, the anointed were identified by partaking.
wrong.
wrong start: the only anointed present, jesus christ, did not partake.

We are talking here of 2000 yrs between scenarios the only bit i would base a comment with evidence is....the watchtower peddle bullshit hoping the gullible will bite .... more fools those who do .
