Is it just possible that the Scottish first minister, whose job (by democratic election )is to do the best for the people of Scotland, would rather work towards the aim of making Scotland stand and thrive on its own two feet rather than the country be at the begging bowl. Who would not want to help a beggar who is striving to be self sufficient. Why does the Westminster government in the main want to keep this ' beggar'.

Could a petition to make shunning illegal work?
by aboveusonlysky inwe're currently watching leah remini's series about scientology and the main thing she seems to focus on is the shunning policies of the scientology organization which let's face it are very similar to jw procedure.. i was wondering with all that's in the media recently about bullying could a petition be put together to get the goverment to consider making religiously mandated shunning illegal?
has such a thing been tried before?.

The Scottish referendum on independence was not conducted without argument and statements of outcomes, i remember it well. The anti independance argument included the view that in order to maintain eu membership voters were encouraged to vote no to independence. The feeling being at the time was that the rest of the uk would remain part of eu,whereas if Scotland gained independence the country (Scotland ) would have insurmountable difficulty in gaining entrance to eu...how things quickly reversed presumption is indeed presumptuous.

There are many ways to deal with unwelcome comment from family or friends which may influence in an unwelcome way . There is no need to shun, there is always the law if the behaviour goes contrary to legalities. Shunning is despicable and should not be tolerated it leads to extended negative consequences inc' health and mental health problems.

wrong, from start to finish, yes, wrong: the wt anointed anecdote.
by waton inthe supposed start: at the last supper, the anointed were identified by partaking.
wrong.
wrong start: the only anointed present, jesus christ, did not partake.

Theresa may the uk prime minister said... no general election necessary until 2020,she also said her government would implement the tory manifesto which her predecessor had written. ...both of these she has already U turned on. Her government has a majority and has won the votes re brexit seeing off the other contrary parties at Westminster, her governments position was secure..... why then the rush to election. This move is a big risk, many who voted for brexit are now not so sure....watch the fireworks !!

Apologists saying that the JWs shouldn't be banned, what the hell!??
by Crazyguy init's been brought to my attention that there are xjw that say they support the witnesses and don't think russia should ban them.
i would just like to remind all of you that jws are guilty of murder, causing higher rates of suicide, covering up child molestation, and keeping members in prisoned because if they leave they loose family, financial support, possible employment etc.. sure their not strapping bombs to their chests but they easily get members to kill themselves with their blood policies.
they are an extremist group!

Question. ....what separates the 'believers' from the organization. Is it not that all jws represent themselves as part of the oganization? Doesn't the baptismal declaration confirm this ?

The Watchtower are Right About Blood...
by cofty in... but, they fail to take note of one important detail.. i believe that if we are going to have any chance of reasoning with a jw about blood, this is the place we need to begin.. don't try to convince them that it was only a dietary law.
it wasn't, and they will never go along with it.. don't tell them that saving a life is more important than obeying a law, even a seemingly trivial one.
they take pride in obedience.

@cofty..thoroughly and sensibly researched top marks. I applaude you. @ fishy if you ever come to realise the jws stance on the 'blood' doctrine has been wrong, which judging by the governing bodies own admission per watchtower feb 2017 ie not infallible, not inspired and capable of error of scriptural understanding, I'd say you owe cofty a gratitude......too many adherents to this misjudgement of scripure lost family and loved ones needlessly. This organization has blood on its hands.
