3 meetings per week NOT FIVE!!!
by sawthelight inam i the only person ever to fall under the influence of the borg who can count?.
no offence all but jws meet three times per week.not five!
i consider the familiar statement about 5 meetings per week to be a good indication of just how indoctrinated a person is.

What Will Occur In 2012 When Mayan Calender Ends?
by Big Jim inwhat will occur in 2012 when the mayan calendar ends?
when people say the mayan calendar ends in 2012, they're referring to the end of one 5125-year cycle that began in 3114 b.c.
this cycle ends on december 21, 2012 (although some peg the date as the 22nd), marking the end of the mayan cyclical calendar.

Who was the strangest JW you ever met?
by Preston ini knew a presiding overseer in the congregation i attened who was possibly the strangest person i ever met.
he took a rigorous position toward the society's view on everything!!!
he was against many things ....including....science fiction, fantasy, the x-files, disneyland, cartoons and football.

i agree, none of us had a life. But, what do you think of my assessment of the math (one visit to KH= one congregation meeting). The point i was trying to make is that the org. tells the dubs there are 5 congregation meetings per week when they go to the hall 3 times(for regular cong meetings) vs. "christiandoms" once per week. Everyone accepts this: my point is that all dubs just repeat what they are told.if the borg said black is white they would repeat this. I realize it may SEEM like a small point but i think it is BIG when all the R&F and people who have left still take the statement at face value. I say if you can accept a small lie you are a good candidate to accept a very large lie. What do you think? -

I appreciate your extra load; however, when the statement 5 meetings per week comes up it is usually in regards to the Christian tradition of once per week. so i still say one meeting per visit to KH- part II(the second meeting) is really just the second item on a rather long and boring agenda; no?

are the people who leave after the public talk baptized? the only one at my former KH who would leave was the uninterested husbund of a sister(i guess showing up for 45 mins was his concession to the nagging). iguess this goes to show how few new ones ever graced my particular hall.

No offence all but JWs meet three times per week. Not five! I consider the familiar statement about 5 meetings per week to be a good indication of just how indoctrinated a person is. After all i have rarely seen anyone leave the KH after the public talk to skip the "tower". it is even more rare to see someone leave the KH after the ministry school and skip a service meeting(actually i've never heard of it).
Soooo its really only 3 meetings per week, right guys?

The CO's visit
by OrangeBlossom inthis past week was the visit of our circuit overseer.
i know what you are thinking so before i post some of his comments that i personally found interesting, i only went to keep peace in the family and not give rise to suspicion about my true feelings.
so with that said, here are some things that grabbed my attention.. 1) his talk thursday nite was about being successful and how the world's view of success is far different than the organizations.

This is not meant to offend any who attend to "keep the peace", but why not stay home when the co, do or whoever visits? let them preach their bullshit to the hardcore dubs and no one else. How would the co feel if the only crowd he attracted during his visit were the truly braindead or totally unprincipaled who are still hardcore? also all the boot-lickers who get to show off during his visit(i have to attend the servants meeting thurs. evening; or read during bookstudy)would only be showing off to others who are like unminded.

reappoinments to elder or MS after a move...why?
by chester inthis may have already been discussed in this or other forums and i may have missed it.. in another thread chipster mentioned something about coming up for reappointment after a move.
especially if i was coming up for reappointent after a move.
it has always been a puzzle to me why a brother should have to be reappointed to his position after he moves to another congregation.. i have never heard anyone complain about it.

i should clarify one thing, although the new elder was put on the schedule before reappointment, the actual date for his part in the ministry school was after the letter of appointment was read. I think i was the only person in the cong who knew he was already on the schedule because i was standing in front of the bullitin board when the school overseer told brother "new" which part he would take. you see the schedule was already up and someone had "copped out" so to speak of a talk.now concerning your situation, you gave a public talk before appointment. i am referring to a part in the ministry school. I am most certain that either the school schedule in one of the fall KMs or the school guide book (i think the former) states that the first two parts ARE TO BE GIVEN BY AN ELDER OR MINISTERIAL SERVANT. please referance an appropriate statement if i have this wrong.
also, it was the PO(brother "new"'s old old friend) who had the connection with ken little.
Finally, as i pointed out, this was not a very capable elder. I believe the main reason he was recruited was to insure the promotion of a ministerial servant to the rank of elder. You see this MS was really new (baptized about 2 years). And i think the Po was loading the BOE to insure the Promotion(this MS had kissed up to all theelders becoming best friends with the PO before Becoming even an unbaptized pub). It was pretty obvious that one of the elders wouldn't rubber stamp the promo and the new elder seemingly convinced him to change his mind. However, i don't know how these things work at elder meetings, but would be interested to here your take on it.

it all depends who you are friends with!
i once watched the ministry school overseer tell a brother (who had just moved in from 1000 miles away and was living in another city 40 miles away) which parts he would have in the upcoming months. (they were no 1's, elder or m.s. only). this was 1 month before co's visit.there was no announcement that brother "new" was appointed as an elder until 1 month after co's visit(branch letter). Of course brother "new" had a brother in the circuit work, was close friends to the PO(the PO's father had brought brother "new" into the un-truth(i recall hearing that the PO's father had also bought in a family of which a daughter had married Ken Little, Canada Branch Overseer, although no proof), also bother "new" has a son who is married to the daughter of the local jdub godfather(he goes to the corporation meetings every october). So as you can see the discision was made before the co's visit. To finish off the storey, brother "new" was a real idiot. once he stated that women in quebec were not allowed to take their husband's surname(during the Tower that he was conducting). he should have known better, he had moved in from Montreal, the largest city in quebec. No one ever questioned this (he is an elder after all) even though several in the cong had attended weddings in montreal including the the daughter of another elder and everone knew better.dumb dumb wasn't even living in the cong's territory during this time. when he moved, he moved in with his son who lived in another cong where the need was greater for "qualified" men.
to top it all off meeting times were even put back, one of the reasons given being to allow for brother "new " to get to the KH on time.
any way that's my rant for today. I know the nepotism sounds like something from the british royal family but it's all true.

WTBTS membership count prediction
by Skimmer insome thoughts on statistical projections of the wtbts membership count:.
1) extrapolation (projection beyond known statistics) is hazardous for any measurement that does not derive from a simple model.
an accurate model of the wtbts membership count would have to include demographics for each of the countries, and this would have to combine population age distribution data, educational attainment data, economic data, current wtbts coverage, and (of course!

just wondering folks
Are there any more congs like my old one?
the only new faces there for the last ten years were old faces from other places who moved in!
