My use of Josephus is cautious as his writings like all ancient historians are uninspired and fallible. Clearly, where his account contradicts the Bible then I accept God's Word over that of any man including Josephus. I use Josephus only where his testimony supports the Bible or is in harmony with it. For example, this debate is about the seventy years and there is much interpretation as to how this period should be interpreted. Apostates argue that this period refers only to domination of Babylon in order to harmonize the period with NB chronology. Celebrated WT scholars argue the period is of exile, servitude and desolation and refers to Judah. Josephus' testimony conforms to the latter point of view and this is why I use Josephus.

Josephus has been considered by some to use flawed data but those who wish to ignore Josephus are rather dishonest because the main pillar for NB chronology is Berossus and the sole source of Berossus is Josephus so you cannot have it both ways.

I do not idolize Jonsson but I feel for those who have been victims of his false teachings are regarding chronology and he has certainly deluded you.

My arguments are Bible-based and can withstand any foolish objection because we do not have to protect NB chronology which has a twenty-year gap and cannot account for Jeremiah's seventy years either in its chronology or its history.

The letter of Jeremiah 29 was sent to those exiles in Babylon who had to remain there until a complete period of seventy years was fulfiiled for all of those people who would become exiled and in servitude to Babylon. At the time of writing that letter Jeremiah was in Jerusalem as the captivity had not then commenced. It is as simple as that. Jeremiah 29:10 does not refer to some partial or previous exile but to that exilic 'seventy years' where by the all of Judah was exiled, forced to serve Babylon leaving a devastated and depopulated land. A complete reading of Jeremiah proves this to be the case as there was more than one exile for the Jews.

It is not a matter of me making bold claims as you put it but that of simply reading God's Word and being faithful to it. We do not want to imitate those false prophets such as Hananiah but accept the prophecy of Jeremiah who clearly taught that the seventy years was a period sexile-servitude and desolation.

Nonsense, Jeremiah 1:1 clearly shows that this letter was sent to an already exiled people and that all of the people in exile had to remain in Babylon until the seventy years finished. The context proves that their servitude was located in Babylon and was not for Babylon which could be argued that their servitude was not the case but they were simply under Babylon's domination. Therefore, the translation 'at Babylon' is the more accurate rendering rather than the apostate 'for Babylon'.

Jeremiah 25:11 definitely states that the seventy years was a period of servitude of Judah along with the nations, was a period of desolation of the land and a period of exile. This verse and the context proves all the principal factors namely: exile-servitude-desolation were of the seventy years. The nations merely had to serve Babylon during the course of Judah's seventy years of exile-servitude and desolation of the land.

You need to be more thorough and use careful research. Read more widely, deeply and thoroughly!

The Bible most definitely describes the seventy years as exilic. Jeremiah 29:10 was written to the captives in Babylon. Jeremiah25:11 states that the Jews had to serve Babylon for seventy years and read the whole book of Lamentations describes their exile in Babylon and the restoration.The seventy years was also a period servitude and desolation as confiremed by the testimony of Josephus.

The Bible nowhere says that the seventy years began in 609 BCE or the event that you ascribe to that date.

The historical judgement described by Jeremiah was not here fall in 539 BCE but her destruction which happened only after the fulfilling of the seventy years besides Daniel confirmed that the seventy years had not then finished at the time of Darius whose reign began after the Fall of Babylon in 539 BCE.

Scholars have not got a clue as to what date would properly mark the 'end' or 'complete end' of the Assyrian World Power as shown by surveying reference works so your use of a 'fuzzy' beginning of the seventy years is unwise and foolish. The dates of 605 or 609 BCE are useless in this regard.

Your opinion is incompatible with the Bible and is not up to fate with current scholarship because you would not know what scholarship is about because you do not research but simply give your interpretation of the Bible.

My comment on Jeremiah 25:12 is what the text plainly says and is supported by leading commentaries which have that same observation.. The 'calling to account' is explained by Jeremiah is Babylon's destruction and not her fall as you claim which began only after the seventy years was fulfilled which was in 537 BCE.

I take your point but I do not share your concern. It is only apostates and our critics who make much of our 'date setting' and the failure of some of our prophetic speculations. They fail to give us credit for those dates that have proven to be reliable and accurate such as 607, 537BCE, 1914 and 1975 CE. Chronology has always been a subject of intense interest for earnest Bible Students as it is the bedrock for the fulfillment of prophecy and the framework for the presentation of history, in the pursuit of such noble objectives it is reasonable to expect a margin of error but over time adjustments are truly appropriate and necessary. I am proud of our heritage and our effort to present eschatology in such a manner as to inspire faith in God's prophetic Word to the betterment and enlightenment of 'sheeplike' ones hungering for truth.

I have never doubted the integrity of 1914 and my academic and biblical study in all matters asssociated with that date have exceeded my expectations and that is the reason that I am an apologist for such matters. I have used my academic studies to provide me with the necessary intellectual skills to defend and criticize those opposing viewpoints.
